Galveston Hotels

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent hotel in Galveston for a pre-cruise stay? We are flying into Hobby the day prior to our cruise and would like to stay somewhere close to the port, specifically someplace that has a shuttle to the cruise port. Any recommendations?

We stayed at Tremont House when we sailed out of Galveston. We had a very nice room and the service was perfect. At the time, we used their shuttle to get to the port. I just checked on their site and they mention they only offer cruise drop-off and pick-up for guests booking their Stay, Park, Sail package, which we didn't book then. We arranged for the shuttle with the front desk.

If you want to stay there, call ahead to see if they do offer the shuttle to guests without the package.

We did the Harbor House, right down the street from the terminal. Watched the Wonder come into the channel and dock. Priced about the same as everything else, so why not stay on the water.

We have the Tremont House booked for next month. I was under the assumption that the port is walking distance? They state this on their website? 0.3 miles from port

You can walk from the Tremont. It's about 5 blocks, if I recall correctly.

We like the Harbor House also. Two nice restaurants very close - Willie G's and Fisherman's Wharf. If you get to Galveston early enough I recommend visiting the Historic Seaport museum and the tall ship Elissa.

It is walkable, but the port is gated and the walk inside the gate goes through the port’s trafic. It was a five minute ride at the most, but we didn’t want to drag our luggage with the little one in tow for 15 minutes.
