I don't know how much this means, but this was just posted on ABD's facebook page:

Where are you dreaming of traveling to in 2014? Here are some places that have been on our mind lately.

Maybe I can get a job as an Adventure Guide. :)
:lovestruc I didn't think of that! :thumbsup2 That would be so cool!

I would love a trip to Japan. They did have a Spain trip that they did away with several years ago they might be re imagining it. like that they are looking at more USA trips as well.
I agree with all of this, Tozzie. I'd love Japan, but I also love the idea of more domestic trips, too!

Japan! Spain! Now...I wonder if any of these are in conjunction with new Disney cruise itineraries? (I hear the rest of 2015 cruises will be revealed in late Jan or early Feb) We always heard from the guides that Japan was too difficult as a land tour--but I guess we'll see...

I would also love India. They did Spain but could be bringing it back. Would also like more USA or canada tours.

Oh WOW new itineraries! At this rate I'll never be able to cross them all off or retire for that matter :rotfl2:

We just did a vacation in San Francisco and visited the Walt Disney Family Museum. For us, really big Disney nuts, this was a very moving experience. If ABD could combine a few nights in SF (including WDFM), a couple in the wine country (perhaps including Lassiter Winery?) and add Yosemite they would have a winner.

Not sure about some of them (nashville and napa?), but love Japan and the Amazon.

I think Amazon was a fabulous idea, too.

I have been saying on this forum for about a year that India would be a great trip with ABD.

From the ones they posted, my vote was Israel, paired with some time in Jordan. My DBF and I could never agree on a trip with ABD (other than Egypt), so we have never taken the plunge. Japan & Israel are at the top of his travel list. If Israel became available, I think I would book it instantly, but as a surprise, so I have nobody to consult with! Lol (And that is totally out of my character for our relationship. We don't even like to spend $200 without consulting with one another first).

I agree. They've had a couple of different California itineraries in the past. In 2008, they had a trip that started in San Francisco and went down the coast to Hearst's Castle, Santa Barbara, Morro Bay, Hollywood and ended at Disneyland. In 2009 & 2010, they had a California trip that did San Francisco, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. It's hard to remember, but it seems like it was dropped from the 2010 schedule after it didn't sell? I'm not sure why it didn't sell. But I agree, now that you have the Walt Disney Family Museum, it might do better, especially if you include Napa. I'd love to do that itinerary! They brought back Central Europe after re-vamping it. I'd love to see them do it with a Northern California trip.

With the Olympics coming to Brazil in 2016, the Amazon trip may be part of a Brazil ABD (Rio, the falls, day trips on the Amazon...)---much like the China trip just before the 2008 Olympics there. And just thinking out loud here...what about a Disney cruise itinerary along the Central and South America coast that includes Costa Rica and Brazil, with ABD add-on? Just sayin'...and also, Merry Christmas to all on the always helpful disboard!

I was told by one of our guides that the feedback ABD received on the Northern CA/Lake Tahoe trip was that there was nothing particularly exclusive about it, so guests felt that it was something they could have done easily on their own. As I recall, he mentioned that they were considering revamping the itinerary, so maybe that is where Napa Valley comes in. If ABD is really planning to add these locations as new itineraries, I wonder if they plan to drop some of the old ones. Egypt comes to mind, since that hasn't gone well for them. If they plan to introduce this many new itineraries at the same time, I certainly hope they are not over-reaching again. I would hate to see a recurrence to the 2009 cancellation debacle. Hopefully, the economy won't be such an issue this time, but 9 new itineraries seems like a lot. But it looks like several of them could potentially be in conjunction with DCL, so maybe that is less risky.

So, has ABD ever announced future trips like this? Wondering what the likely hood is of any of this being announced soon. I don't imagine them to announce them all at once, just wondering if you realistically think any of this will appear sooner, rather than later.

Mele Kalikimaka to all of you!! :santa:

Maybe they are just trying to get a discussion started, since their Facebook page never has very much activity. The odd things about it is that the post references 2014 and ABD announced the 2014 trips long ago (except for Norway). If they are looking for feedback on possible future itineraries, I think they would get better results with a survey.

Personally we have to make out schedule at least a year and a half to two years in advance for vacations so we are probably not able to take advantage of any new offerings quickly. For us they look really interesting but not realistic for us to participate. Also we still feel "stung" by ABD's cancelation of our vacation with them in Italy this spring. :worried:

I really hope they're just fishing for reactions, and not introducing that many new itineraries at once. I just can't see that having a good outcome. The economy hasn't improved *that* much! But I do think they need to retire the Egypt itinerary for now. It has to be frustrating for people to sign up (some I know have done it multiple times) and then have it cancelled. As much as I'd understand why it's getting cancelled, it has to get old for both ABD and the people signing up.

I agree a survey makes more sense, but maybe this is an experiment to see what kind of discussion they get. They've already added the Norway trip long after the 2014 trips were announced. I wonder how well they are selling? I can't imagine adding that many new itineraries *now* for 2014!

Well, they sort of did with the recent Norway trip addition, but other than that, not really. They've sent out surveys in the past asking for opinions on different itineraries, but there was no indication on those that it was anything but research for future trips.

I know the post asked what the plans were for 2014, but I think I took it less literal. I was thinking they were toying with *some* of the ideas, to be announced in 2014 with travel beginning 2015. And if I'm not mistaken, about half of those destinations have been offered in the past in someway, right? I know NYC is a DVC exclusive ABD right now, and I thought Hawaii, Spain, and Washington DC were offered before as well?

I found that original post interesting too! DH was very interested in a few. We still haven't picked this summer's trip! I feel a need to see my ancestors roots in Italy, but DD is really wanting Prague and Salzburg! I like the idea of Napa on that list!

There was a very short-lived trip to New York/Boston a few years ago, as well. And the DCV-only New York trip this year.
