Funniest or Strangest reason for ride interruption

My family loves COP...and we're aware that, because of it's age, it sometimes "hiccups". Well, when we took my MIL on for the first time on our 2009 trip, it got stuck in the 1940s scene (hubby and I figured someone was an idiot and had walked out). Well...wouldn't you know? Some fool woman and her husband and children get all in a huff and walk out. Moron

Needless to say, we had to wait about 15 minutes for them to reset the ride to move on. But it's all good....she was in a rush and didn't get to enjoy one of the finer finds at WDW.

A couple years ago, we were in line for Splash Mountain...anyway, we had been in line forever because we didn't have fast passes for whatever reason. Right before it was our turn to ride, the fire alarm went off. Everybody had to exit and leave the area. We found out later, it was the smoke from Wishes. Luckily, we hung around and were the first ones back on when they re-opened the ride.

DD and I were in line for RnRC for her first time. DS and DW were waiting outside for us to come out. We finally got to the ride and turned the corner to the launch area.

The little girl and her dad in front of us started a little commotion. Appearently the little girl did not want to ride but dad wanted her to.
The CM came over and asked if she wanted to get off or ride. The little girl was now loosing it. :sad1:

The CM said the ride would only last a few minutes but it would take at least 15 minutes to get her out. We were already locked into the launch so they had to completely shut down the ride before they would allow the shoulder bar to go up. (I like the safety)

So we wait 15 minutes as they power down. The little girl gets out. Now another 20 minutes to get back up and running. The whole time we are in the limo waiting. DW asked outside what is going on and they tell her "Technical Difficulties" which does not sit well.

We finally get to launch and ride RNRC but there is no music! We can hear the wheels as in a normal coaster. The best part is we get to the end and the CM sends us through a door back to the start of the ride to go again since we had no music. Front seat and we go again!

My 6 y.o. DD got fussed by "a voice from above" on the monorail. We were the only ones in the car, and stopped, and she was holding on to one of the bars, swaying back and forth. She was busted for "swinging on the handrails". :rolleyes1 You should have seen the look on her face! :rotfl:

You tend not to think about it but I guess when you are on Disney property you are most likely being watched....I find that both comforting and DIScomforting at the same time :guilty:

We were getting off Peter Pan on one trip - I think my youngest son was 3 - and he tried to get out of the wrong side of the "ship." The ride shut down instantly. There's nowhere to go on that side, and my husband was grabbing his hand to get off, but he just barely tried to step out and the whole ride stopped. I don't think it lasted but 30-60 seconds, but it really impressed me how quickly it did happen.

Several years ago we were at the All-Star Music main pool when suddenly they announced that the pool would be closing due to an 'unscheduled cleaning'. Fortunately, we hadn't been in the pool at the time and we quickly figured out what the 'unscheduled' part meant. Yuck. Think 'Caddyshack'!

While I understand that there are "emergencies"...there is a reason they make umpteen million announcements on Ellen's Energy thing, both prerecorded and by CMs. Even being there during a slow time in January, I can't believe some of the stuff I heard on that ride. "Well maybe we'll pick up speed" or "Mommy I gotta pee" "No we're going to ride" "but.." "No. We're riding everything so just hold it" which inevitably led to a faint chant of "I gotta pee I gotta pee I gotta pee" intermittantly for the first 10 minutes then this kid fidgeting and sighing and thumping the seats for the rest of the ride. She was like 4 rows ahead of us and the audio in that ride is pretty loud so she was easy to tune out but I can't imagine how the people around her felt.

The announcements are for a reason folks..that's the moral of the story.

When I worked at Universal, I had to Estop The Simpsons Ride because a middle aged couple decided to um.... get it on.... on the ride. Ride stops, lights come on. Yes, people are that stupid.

I estopped Doctor Doom because people take off their seatbelts at least 5x a day. When you work in a theme park, you view the world as a big dumb mess. You realize you have to talk slow, explain the simplest of procedures with the utmost care and clarity.

I basically figured that these rides all had to have "eyes in the sky" and "voices in the sky".....so how come they don't yell at the people that uses flash cameras and bright video screens on their recorders on the dark rides:confused3....cuz they drive me nutso and I'd love to see them dumped off the rides:mad::mad::mad:

They do! We've heard it happen on CoP three times, Soarin' once, and POTC once! I wish they'd speak up more often, too. :)

There was/is another great website that has stupid things guests do. I can't recall the actual website name, but it was set up like the Dis but was for cast members.

That was a great read! If someone knows the website can you add a link or post what it's called, I'd love to read some more.

I'm going to move this to the theme parks community board.

For the person who missed the link earlier:

Now I'll warn you there is some naughty language and, more importantly, things you can never un-read: Epic Failures At The Theme Parks

That would be the wonderful Stupid Guest Tricks.
