"No, you can NOT have a light saber!"

(Star Tours Gift Shop, 21 SEP 05.)

OMG, I would say that was ME who said that to my ds6, but we weren't there until the 30th of September! Also, it would have to be followed by "you already have four of them at home!!" :rotfl:

we were on the bus from POFQ to MK and met a family who were planning to visit *ALL* of wdw in that one day... they expected to hit all four parks and dtd in a day... and it was already after 10am! tried to gently explain that it was likely not do-able and maybe they should just pick a park and enjoy, but they were convinced it was easily done 'cause they'd been to a lot of amusement parks before...

*~*~*~*~*~*
another day we met a family who were on the bus to epcot but planning to go to magic kingdom, reading the mk map the whole way, and looking very surprised when they could not see the castle from the turnstyles! um, duh?!

Okay, so maybe this is more pathetic and ignorant than funny, but~

One year we just happened to be at the MK in the first week of June (I think) and it was red shirt day (for gay pride). I heard several parents commenting on what a digusting display... I dont show off being heterosexual... etc etc

I just found it amusing that people were being so uptight about it, and being so severely offended that they were clearly letting this ruin their day!

Before DH and I had kids, we were on one of our commando style trips.
We were at MK and just before park closing we wanted to ride POTC.
So we decide we would run there to make sure we could ride it before closing. We were running through Liberty Square, and a little girl, no older that five, screams out to us: "Pace yourself!"
We couldn't stop laughing, and say that to each other all the time now.
What a good Disney memory that is!

:rotfl: That is hilarious!

I just thought of another comment that had my daughter and I cracking up. We were at the Animal Kingdom, walking around and enjoying the beautiful scenery, and looking at all of the different birds at the various exhibits. When we came up to the gorgeous blue macaws we were stunned to hear it greet us with a big old "HELLO!" we giggled and said hello back then clear as day it said...

"Wow! Look at that bird!"

That is one of our best memories from the AK.

UGH! Thats all im going to say about that, dont want to make this a politcal thread but come on. Let them be. People can be ignorant.

but anyway on with the fun!

If a bird said wow look at that bird, i think i would just fall over.

Overheard on the bus last week, mother to little boy:

"Honey, it's CHIP and DALE, not CHICKEN DALE"".

:rotfl: :rotfl:

:paw:

Overheard last week in China at the Hong Kong Disneyland display. "Oh look they have an Animal Kingdom too" It was Tarzan's Treehouse.

Last week we are leaving AK heading for POFQ. The bus reached the stoplight in front of the McDonald's near the All Star Resorts. One of the guests shouts out to the driver, "please do me a favor and pull into the McDonalds parking lot, I'd love to have a burger". The driver explains that the bus routes are fixed and she can't drive into the McDonalds. The guest responds that she is tired of the Disney Resort food and would do anything for a McDonalds' burger and tells the driver she will give her a $20 tip if she will take her to McDonald's. She says "it's McDonald's, it will only take a few minutes". The bus driver tells her that there is a McDonald's at Downtown Disney and that she can transfer to a bus for DD once we reach POFQ. The guest is really upset and makes a comment like "This is Disney and I thought that Disney does anything to make their customers happy - you have ruined my vacation". By this time the light turns green and off we go to POFQ. :rolleyes1

One night last September, DH and DS talked me into taking out a surrey bike at the Boardwalk. We hopped on and took off around Crescent Lake with the advice - "there are two hills...get a good start before you get there to best get over it." For those of you who haven't done this, you go over the bridge towards the Beach Club (medium hill) and down the lakefront at the Beach Cub and Yacht Club. The next bridge over from the Yacht Club back to the BW is a bigger hill. On the first hill, we did okay. We got our fast start and cruised over. But then on the second hill, we found it much harder. As I was just beginning to think we would have to give up and push, a booming voice with a strong New Orleans type accent spoke from the lake to my husband, "Come on Son! You can do it!" I looked at DH and he was laughing. The voice kept going, "Just peddle harder, Son!" It was the captain of one of the Friendships on his way from Epcot to the Swan/Dolphin. He actually STOPPED the boat so the passengers could watch us cross the bridge while he kept up a running commentary. I am proud to say we did make it, even with our sides hurting from laughter. The last thing we heard as we sailed down the second side and the boat began to move again was,

"I'll bet you'll never do that again!" :rotfl:

That's so funny that the captain did that! There are a couple of hills around CBR that you need to get going a little fast for too....especially if your spouse (me) isn't helping...and laughing.

(Star Tours Gift Shop, 21 SEP 05.)

Ohmigosh that might have been ME!!! :rotfl: I just checked our trip report and we were at MDM on the 21st...and I remember my DS grabbing everything in the Star Tours giftshop and in particular wanting a light saber because his cousin has 4 of them...! I think we got him out of there with a promise to put it on his list of possible birthday wants...

So if it was a short very pudgy/round blonde mom with a 4 year old redhead...that'd be us...!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Those hills are difficult--especially if you attempt them after stuffing yourself at Cape May (as we did)! Great story! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Those Friendship boat captains! The following is excerpted from my 10/2 - 10/7/05 BWV trip report:

Speaking of Friendship boats, a high point was walking along the waterway between the Swan/Dolphin and Boardwalk, hearing a boat captain talking to people on the shore through the megaphone. Imagine a mean voice; maybe an army seargeant's voice, or maybe the mean guy in prison you don't want to cross. Imagine that voice over a megaphone, coming from the Friendship boat, bellowing out to some random 8yo boy walking along: "Yo Boy! You! YOU in the blue shirt! Run... You hear me, boy?!? RUN BOY!" The boy looks around confused, and then starts running. "Run faster! FASTER. LIKE YOU MEAN IT! RUN!" Boy runs faster, leaving family behind. Perhaps at this point the CM on the boat realized that maybe this was not such a good idea for continued employment where the Magic Lives. "You BOY! Stop! STOP!" Boy keeps running -- apparently the fear of the Friendship boat captain is strong. "OK, boy... Keep running then. RUN!" For all I know, the boy in the blue shirt is still running

This was more of a visual, and more stupid than funny: we were sitting at a table outside Casey's Corner, with our amazing hot dogs, and next to us, this woman was feeding the birds french fries RIGHT NEXT TO the sign that says "Please do not feed the birds".

She was yelling at them, calling them "losers" or "suckers" when they let another bird get that particular fry. At one point she yelled, "Yeah, bird fight!" - My DH and I say that now, on a regular basis.

She had absolutely no regard for what it might do for the birds' digestion or fragile stomach lining, or that SIGN that was seriously a foot away from her. I got a picture of her feeding the birds, with the sign visible - I had to take it; the irony was just too great.

I guess this belongs in the pet peeves thread, but it is a little funny when people do this, or take flash pictures right next to the sign that says it's prohibited, etc. Do they think nobody notices? Are they just that self-involved?

I realize that people continually feed the birds there - it's in Mary Poppins, for God's sake, but when I'm in WDW a wave of total respect comes over me - for Walt, etc. I get so angry when people don't clean up after themselves in counter-service restaurants, or litter (I can't believe anyone would litter in WDW!) or especially smoke in non-designated places, like watching parades. It makes me sad.

hmmm....maybe I DID post this in the wrong place....... :rolleyes1

Many years ago, my husband's whole family came to visit us in Tampa, and we took them to the newly opened Epcot. We were eating in the Rose and Crown. Our waiter was bending over to take the order of the folks at the table next to us, just as my Father in law turned to point at something - and FIL's finger went right into the waiter's - um - well, you know where!

The waiter let out a yelp, turned, and said to FIL, "Please, sir, I don't know you THAT well!"

We've laughed about that one for years!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: OMG that is so funny. What a picture that paints. Thanks for the giggle.

Sitting waiting for the afternoon parade yesterday at MK, there were some antzy little children around, so I was trying to engage them in conversation about WDW and maybe share a few hints. Well, the little girl next to me asked me "Are you in charge of all of Walt Disney World?" I loved it!
