Can you reserve a FunCat in advance on CC? If not, are they plentiful or have you seen them not have any available? Thanks!

You cannot reserve them ahead of time. If I remember correctly last spring they were about $30 for a half hour use, I don't think you'll have any trouble getting to use one. People don't seem to use the rental boats very much.

Great, thank you!!

Do you mean the Hobie Cat? If so, as the pp mentioned, it can't be reserved early. But someone does need to have sailing experience.

We rented it a couple of times and both times we waited until early afternoon and they was no wait. Once we rented it, there was no one out and when we got closer to the ship, we looked back and there were quite a few out but they were mostly near the beach...most of them didn't go further out, so we had a lot of room going back and forth at the farthest point. The area you are permitted to go is not very big...I would say you can circle the whole area about 10 times if the wind was cooperating.

No, I meant the motorized multi-person water loungers, I believe they’re called FunCats but we’re first timers:D

We have to work our way up to the hobie cats:P

We were glad that my son sails. He's been sailing since he was young. Otherwise, I don't think it would have been fun. We saw a lot of people being towed back to the beach.

It does take a lot of work and the wind has to be cooperating. For us, both times, my son said it was perfect sailing whether...whatever that means...I thought it was actually a little too windy...but it was consistent and generally one direction...perhaps that's what he meant.

But once you're out there, it's awesome. We got photos of the ship from that angle and it was great. It's a corralled area, but it was still fun.
