Fun, Sun, and Mickey Mouse! An August 2009 TR...new 11/19 p. 34

Hi Sarah!

All caught up again! BLT looks lovely, I kind of agree with you - I prefer the themeing of WLV!

The Electric Water Pageant looks lovely! Is it on every night?

Di x

I LOVE the water pageant! I miss seeing that. The Villas looks SO nice. You got some great pictures!

The Villas are great! I'm so happy we finally got the chance to stay there. :goodvibes

Great Update!

I can't seem to see any 3-d effects in TSM hahaha someone said I need to get to a certain point in the game before it will do anything :confused3 Any btw I am more than horrible at Jessie's Sarsaparilla toss or w.e it is!!!!

Yeah, I think we got the 3D stuff because my dad ended up "buying" all the games with all the tickets we earned! But I think I read somewhere you do have to unlock them.

That game is SOOOO hard! :confused3

Ooo, thanks for the review on the Toy Story Mania game, it's on my list of must buys for Christmas for the kids. They'll all love it. My 10 yr old is already making sure I know that it exists.

Nice update, the water pageant looks very neat, I would like to try and see it next time. We are going to be doing the Wishes cruise and I think i heard that some people have seen it while on that cruise. I hope so.

Yeah, I'm sure they'd get a kick out of it. We all love it and the youngest of us is 19 (though technically she hasn't played yet since she's at school...lol!).

That is probably right about the cruise, I know that when we saw it there were a few boats out on the water. Maybe that's what it was.

Hey Diane, how are you doing?!

The theming of the lodge is definitely unique. Love it!

As for the EWP, yes, it is on every night (as long as it's not bad weather!).

Sarah,
great update! Now I'm looking fowardto the Toy Story Mania game! :)

Thanks! You will love the TSM game when you get it!

Great updates!! I missed quite a few but I'm all caught up now!

Glad you liked all the updates...I've been kind of slacking on updating since I've been subbing all week and haven't had any time! Hopefully this weekend though I'll be able to start Day 2!

HAPPY WEEKEND!!! So happy it's Friday!

I'm so sorry that I've been a major slacker in updating my TR this week. I ended up subbing all week at the same school I subbed at all last year which was interesting. It sounds like I may have to go back Monday too since the teacher is still pretty sick but we'll see.

ANYWAYS...I am definitely going to do another update sometime this weekend and hopefully I'll be able to catch up on everyone's TRs too. :thumbsup2

I guess that's it, just wanted to check in. Enjoy your Friday evening/rest of the weekend!

August 22, 2009

Saturday was our Magic Kingdom day. We got to sleep in a little bit since the park didn’t open until 9:00. Once we were up we got ready, ate some breakfast and were on our way to the bus stop by 8:15. While we waited I took another picture of the Lodge. I loved all the purple flowers out in front too. It just adds more to the whole atmosphere of the resort.

Before long we were arriving at the Magic Kingdom. YAY! I love when they play the Mickey Mouse March on the bus when you get there (by the way, that version is available on iTunes…not gonna lie, I have it on my iPod…now I can listen to it and imagine I’m on one of the buses!).

By the time we got there they were already letting people through the turnstiles but we were still early enough that we hadn’t missed the opening show. The show is so cute and it’s a great way to start off the day. Oh yes, and the song makes me smile too. There was a commercial I saw a while ago, I think it was for some coffee, and it had that “good morning, good morning” part in it. Emma and I looked at each other and started laughing because of course we both immediately thought of the MK show. Anyways, it was kind of cool because the family of the day was from Wisconsin. When they announced that I cheered which got a few looks from some people. haha So with the help of the family, the Main Street citizens, and Mickey Mouse, everyone did the countdown and the park was officially open!

I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of going through the railroad station and stepping onto Main Street—atleast I better not (that would be be pretty sad). As we headed toward the castle we were greeted by all the friendly cast members, waving to us with their Mickey gloves. I love that too!

Normally our first stop is Tomorrowland but with Space Mountain being closed (SO SAD!!) we went to Frontierland. We ended up cutting through Adventureland to get there.

As we were walking, Dad and I had a brief exchange that went something like this:

Dad: Did you hear that?
Me: No.
Dad: That kid, he just said “We’re in the Magic Kingdom. We’re home. I’m so happy.”

How adorable is that?! That was definitely the quote of the day. Kind of sums up how I felt too.

When we got closer to Frontierland, there was hardly anybody in front of us. But then we saw the swarms of people being led into Frontierland so we ended up sprinting to beat the crowds to Splash Mountain. That was kind of fun—and just for the record we never run in the parks and wouldn’t have done it if more people had been around. But the walkways were pretty dead. When we got to Splash Mountain we were able to walk right on. It was a little disappointing because we just missed being on the first boat of the day. Bummer!

We ended up getting in a boat with this one lady and her son who must’ve been about 5 or 6 years old. They were so fun—the whole time the little boy was so excited and then after the big drop in the final scenes they both started singing along. It was so cute! They were really getting into it. Gotta love seeing how other people react to the rides. After Splash Mountain we did BTMRR which was again pretty much a walk-on.

The longest part was just walking through the queue area. When we got off, Frontierland was still fairly quiet.

We wanted to ride Peter Pan before the line got too long so we made our way over to Fantasyland.

We are still trying to figure out when and why it got so popular. Dad keeps telling us how when my sisters and I were younger it was always Dumbo that had such a long wait. Don’t get me wrong, I love Peter Pan (in fact it’s probably my favorite Fantasyland ride) but it’s just strange how it seems to attract such huge crowds and the wait is always so long. I think the wait for us was 10-15 minutes, so not too bad. And a bit of trivia for you: in the part where you’re flying over London, you can see an example of forced perspective—the buildings are wider on top and get smaller/skinnier closer to the bottom since that’s what it really would look like if you were up in the air. I can’t remember where I read that, maybe one of those Imagineering Field Guides or Celebrations magazine, but for some reason I had that in my head and sure enough, it’s true. Kind of cool. Before leaving Fantasyland we did a couple more attractions. First up was the Carrousel since we hadn’t been on that in a while.

5210_605119957794_20305212_35625884_1921930_n.jpg

(there's Dad waving waaay up in front of us...we thought it was funny he went there instead of back by us. LOL.)
5210_605119962784_20305212_35625885_3034770_n.jpg

We only had to wait for one cycle so while we were standing in line I spotted Cinderella’s horse (it’s the one with the golden ribbon tied around its tail—just another bit of trivia!). I’m telling you, there are sooo many details that you could literally take a trip and spend the whole time just searching for all those Disney secrets.

We also did the Pooh ride and the teacups. Emma and I shared a teacup and normally we don’t spin a whole lot, but for whatever reason Emma decided to spin really fast. We were cracking up and while we were riding I got one of my favorite pictures from the whole trip.

5210_605119972764_20305212_35625887_6786201_n.jpg

Isn’t it cute? I love the look on her face. LOL! And then I got a blurry teacup picture to prove how fast we were spinning. Good times.

At one point we also met Alice and the Queen of Hearts. I don't think it was right after the ride based on the order of Emma's pictures but since it was near the Mad Tea Party I'm saying it was. :p

6289_1147274934481_1605780003_30581712_4771553_n.jpg

Alice asked us if we were enjoying our holiday, which of course I told her yes. After getting our picture and saying good-bye we continued on our way. But what would we do next?

Sounds like a fun morning in the MK so far :) I bet the Mom and son singing on SM was great!

How exciting to meet both Alice and the Queen!

I have an aversion to the teacups but I might try them in January and just not spin. Spinning = for me.

Hey Sarah, I'm still here! Sorry I haven't been around lately :headache:

What a great morning at the MK!! Love the teacups pictures :thumbsup2

Wow - awesome pictures of the Villas and WL! Those noises sound creepy...I get scared SO easily so I wouldn't have liked that! I loved the video of the EWP. I've never actually sat and watched the whole thing and I am thinking I probably should!

I've also never done MK rope drop but the show sounds cute and I would LOVE to get there when the park opens! And that would have been awesome to be first on Splash but you still got to walk on so ya can't really complain about that!!

I do love that teacup picture!! How awesome!

One of these days I will make it to MK for a rope drop... That teacup picture is fantastic! I love surprises like that when they turn out to be a favorite. The Queen of Hearts!! :cool1:

Great update. I never tire of walking under the train station and seeing the castle either! There's nothing like it.

Too bad you weren't the first boat on Splash Mountain but at least you rode with a great mother and son. Don't you just love it when you ride with someone and you can tell they are having a blast.

From your pictures, it looks like the crowds were pretty light. What I wouldn't give to have crowds (or non-crowds:rotfl:) like those!

Yay!! for MK at rope drop!!:yay: We love the opening show!!That's so great that you got to meet Alice and The Queen of Hearts!! But...oh just looking at those spinning teacups are making me dizzy......:rotfl:

Can't wait for more.popcorn::

Yeah, it was cool to meet both of them. At first it was just Alice but while we were waiting the Queen came too!

I don't blame you on not liking the spinning. I thought I was going to fall over when we got off. :rotfl:

What a great morning at the MK!! Love the teacups pictures :thumbsup2

Hey Kristen! How are you?

Thanks...I really liked how those pictures turned out too.

You should watch the whole EWP! It's really not all that long.

I love all the opening shows but the MK one is the best. I love all the characters and the music is great. That is true, we were still on one of the first boats of the day which was still pretty cool.

Glad you liked the teacup picture! I had to do it since we were both laughing so hard. I had Emma take one of me but I am not posting that one...LOL.

It really is so much fun to see other people enjoying themselves. They were so cute.

Yeah, the crowds were not bad at all which was great! We've been spoiled on our last few trips going during non-busy times after always going over winter or spring break.

The opening show is just so cheerful and Disney-ish I don't know how anybody could NOT like it. :goodvibes

I just sat down to read everything I missed while I was on my trip. Loved your pictures. I'm enjoying your report!

Hey Kristen! How are you?

Thanks...I really liked how those pictures turned out too.

I'm doing good but grad school is kicking my butt! Sooo much work (which I should be doing now :headache:) Are you teaching this semester? What do you teach again, I forget!?

Of all places that the family of the day could be from, they were from Wisconsin! How ironic!

Aw..yes..I agree with that kid! The MK is definately "home" to me too. :cloud9:

I love that pic on the teacups! So cute! :cutie:
