Fun, Sun, and Mickey Mouse! An August 2009 TR...new 11/19 p. 34

yay chick fil a!!!!!

as a CM we got a thursday discount at the local chick fil as..if you bought one value meal you got one for free!! We went faithfully every thurs but it was nice because you got dinner and had a lunch or dinner for the next day!! I must say I havent been to one in 3 months because of going there weekly for several months but it's still good!!!

I saw that resturant when we were trying to find something open.
I associated it with Chicken and so did everyone else. We never even went to look at the menu.:rotfl: So what do they really have on the menu?

It is all chicken, but it's just really good and they're very fast too. Just a great alternative to the burger places w/ some healthy options also available if you want them.

Its fried chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, chicken nuggets, grilled chicken sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches and chicken salads. Waffle fries, side salads, carrot salad are the sides.

They also make their own lemonade and their chicken biscuits for breakfast are really good.

*None of the chains are open on Sundays.

Hey girl! I haven't been on the DIS in a couple of days and just saw you started you TR! Woo hoo! You know I'm in :thumbsup2

Hi Kristen! Thanks for coming over. :)

My 22 year old daughter absolutely loves Chick-Fil-A. We have them here in Lousiana and there are some in Georgia where she goes to Missionary College. Recently, Chick-Fil-A had some kind of promo where you could get any combo meal free if you dressed up like a cow. She and all of the Mission students drew spots on their faces, made cardboard ears and tails and went to the local Chick-Fil-A. They took pictures and it was hilarious!

It looks like you guys are off to a great start. Can't wait to see pictures of Wilderness Lodge Villas.

LOL, glad we are not the only ones who love it! It's kind of a treat for us since there are none around here anymore. haha!

:lmao: OK, its a definate visit for me next trip!

Who would've thought one little mention of a restaurant would start such a discussion?!?!

Did you fly AirTran?

And, what is with this weather, I noticed how dark it is getting too at nite. When it is nice and warm out, for some reason you don't notice the darkness, but with it being cold out, we don't stay outside as late. I hate fall/winter, I am actually really dreading it.

It's pretty much just a fast-food restaurant, mostly chicken stuff. But it's soo juicy, I don't know how to describe it...way better than McDonald's or Burger King.

We actually flew Midwest. Good old Flight 90, the same flight we've taken so many times to Orlando. :thumbsup2

I know, I am not looking forward to winter and snow. :headache:

Ohh nice about the discount. I would definitely be going a lot too.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up!

Looking forward to reading more.

August 20, 2009...part 2

Alright, now we get to the fun part...are you ready for some pictures?!

After picking up our lunch we headed down to the Disney Welcome Center to get the Magical Express. We were getting that much closer to Disney World!! Once we got to the Welcome Center we found a place to sit down while Dad went to check in. About two seconds later he came back—apparently we didn’t have to go through any check-in so we were able to get in line for the bus. The lady who was directing people to the lines told us about Whispering Canyon Café when she saw we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We said how we ate there on our last trip. So then we were directed to line 4 to wait for our bus.

All of the lines were actually pretty long even though it was only mid-morning. I don’t think there were any buses there when we arrived. As we waited for a bus we ate our lunch and Emma was thrilled to discover the airport had free Wi-Fi so she could finally update her Twitter. I think she must have tweeted half a dozen times, haha! Some of the cast members were also busy entertaining all the guests who were waiting. At one point a bunch of them started singing “The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers” which was cute.

I think we waited around 20 minutes before some buses made their way back to the airport. They called a couple lines and then it was our turn to board. Woo hoo! As we made our way outside we got our first taste of the heat. I didn’t think it was that bad…of course that might’ve been because we were still somewhat undercover.

I was hoping to get a seat near the front of the bus so I could take a picture of us driving through the arch but there were quite a few people in front of us. So I settled for a window seat instead. I was still determined to get some pictures along the way! Soon the bus was full and we were ready to roll. Our driver was cool—he introduced himself as William and said that if we enjoyed our ride we could call him Bill. If not, his name was Carl. Haha! As we pulled out of the airport we took “resort roll call” and had to cheer when Bill called out our resort. He then explained that the order he called out those resorts was the order we’d be dropped off. So we were going to be stopping at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian before the Wilderness Lodge. Fine by me, I always like seeing the other resorts even if it is for two seconds. Plus I was secretly hoping we’d make a stop at the Polynesian.

We were riding on one of the regular Mears shuttle buses so we didn’t get to see the video they normally show on the ME. But Bill kept us entertained by telling us trivia and pointing out different things along the way. He told us how WDW is 2 times the size of Manhattan, etc. He also pointed out a swamp where we might be able to spot an alligator and that one hotel with the huge waterfall out in front (is it the Caribe Royale?). He told us a story about how some people decided to dump soap in it as a prank and the next day the road was covered in bubbles.

By then we were getting pretty close to the Disney grounds and before long the arch was in view! Sadly I was on the wrong side of the bus and only got a picture of Donald.

Emma got a little bit more from the other side:

As we drove along we could see the Characters in Flight balloon out in the distance, Spaceship Earth, and of course all the Disney transport buses. But one of the best sights of all was this:

And you gotta love the purple Disney signs!

THE MAGIC KINGDOM!!! It was so exciting to be staying in the MK resort area again—right in the middle of all the action! Dad, Emma, and I also made our picks for which monorail we’d ride first (just a little tradition of ours :))

Our first stop was the Polynesian. I think about half the bus got off there. Part of me wanted to, too…good old Poly!

Then we continued on our way and stopped at the Grand Floridian. What a view that was pulling in there. So pretty!

And finally it was time to head to our “home” for the next few days…on to the Wilderness Lodge!

Great pictures from the bus! Makes me want my trip to come up that much faster!

Yay! It sounds like a fun bus ride - resort roll call? How cute! I love when the drivers are entertaining. Good thing you had a good driver since there was no ME video! Purple Disney signs are probably one of the best things EVER!! I'm really looking forward to photos of WL!

PS I would LOVE for you to PM me the pics you got with the Idols!

You had a cool driver! That must have been so fun :thumbsup2 Cute little picture of Donald. :rotfl:

Great pictures! I love visiting other resorts just to see what they look like. One day, I vow to stay at the Poly.

yay great update!! When we took DME in 2007 to WL, we found it odd that that was the route they took you: Poly, GF, CR, and WL, going past WL and then having to drive back around but it didn't help that our driver got lost 3x :( I'm sure they do it by category as opposed to a direct route..perhaps at busy times they might? who knows!

What a great update!! I was afraid that this was going to become a Chik-Fil-A questions and answers thread there for a minute lol!

Can't wait to see your arrival at WL!

Ah...I just love those purple signs!! You managed to capture everything I love about first arriving at Disney World. Love, love, LOVE all your pictures!

Great pictures! I love visiting other resorts just to see what they look like. One day, I vow to stay at the Poly.

Me too!! :lovestruc Even my anti-Disney DH fell in love w/ the Poly. It's such an awesome resort.

Great report so far- I love the photos!:)

All caught up!!! Great report Sarah!!! Can't wait to read more... Love the WL!! Hope to be able to stay there one day, along with many other resorts! :rotfl2:

We have 2 chic-fil-a's less them 3 miles from our house!! We are there alot!! Um... Um...

No words to describe the feeling I get seeing those pictures...this little icon explains it all...:cloud9:

Yeah, it makes it all the more fun when the drivers are into it. I was kind of disappointed we didn't get one of the "real" ME buses, but hey, we were going to Disney so I can't get too picky!

You had a cool driver! That must have been so fun :thumbsup2 Cute little picture of Donald. :rotfl:

It was a lot of fun.

Ahh..I love the MK gates! :cloud9:

Me too! :goodvibes

Great pictures! I love visiting other resorts just to see what they look like. One day, I vow to stay at the Poly.

Oh, you should definitely try to stay at the Polynesian...it is AMAZING. We kept saying on our trip how we wish they would build DVC villas there. How awesome would that be?!

It was a strange route since we had to backtrack to get to the WL. And then after dropping us off it was going to the Contemporary. :confused3

What a great update!! I was afraid that this was going to become a Chik-Fil-A questions and answers thread there for a minute lol!

LOL, I know! I have to admit it was kind of funny seeing everyone's Chik-Fil-A comments. :rotfl:

Working on the next update right now!

Wow you sure put some great pictures in your post, I'm sure it was fun to stop at Poly and GF. Don't you just love the MK resort area. Can't wait to see all the great pictures you got of WL.
Thanks for sharing with all of us!
