Fun, Sun, and Mickey Mouse! An August 2009 TR...new 11/19 p. 34

Great update!! I love WL, but I have never been to the Villas. You have some really good photos of the lobby!

Love your pictures of wilderness lodge! I really want to check that one out. It's pretty much the only hotel I've never even seen! Look how empty MK was mid afternoon!

Great update!!! I love the entrance to VWL! The ambiance is fantastic. There were times I completely forgot I was in Florida.

You can only get the plastic tickets at resorts. Next time, you can just take your ticket down to the concierge and they will put it on the nice, plastic card instead of the flimsy paper one. I highly recommend doing that, too. Aaron's ticket got soaked on Kali and wouldn't scan. The plastic one worked SO much better!!

Can't wait to hear more!

Aw...thanks so much for showing those WL pics. I really do miss staying there. That path to the VWL is so nice and peaceful! :cloud9:

Yay, you made it to the MK! Even though there were refurbishments going on, the place was still great! I loved that they tried to make the outside look like it's really supposed to.

I keep seeing WL pictures and it just makes me want to stay there!! Maybe the next trip I plan ::yes::

I have a funny story about Magical Express.
Hi-Jack-Time.
When we got off our flight with AirTran, they did not announce which area to pick up our luggage.
So, I am waiting with Megan, and I walked up to the podium and asked the Airtran employee,
which conveyor area our luggage would be on.

A family that sat behind us, ( I got to know her, because her son needed the bathroom at least 5 times) came up to me and asked me where they could find their luggage. The Airtran employee was "shocked" that we weren't going to WDW and laughed with me and so when the mom asked me, the first thing I said was, "Are you going to WDW"? and are you staying on site. Both shook the cobwebs out of their heads, and both said, "Yes, Yes". Then I said, are you doing DME, not Disney Magical Express. The dh caught on and said "yes" again. Then I told them, they didn't have to pick up their luggage, Disney would do it for them. They both laughed and said, "that's right."
After I told them to follow us to the tram and B side, I pointed them in the right direction.

After they left, my dd's laughed at me, and I said, "Oh, keep laughing, I just hope they put their yellow tags on their luggage, or they are going to be one pissed off couple if they don't get their luggage tonite."

Didn't you notice the water bridge? It was near the Contemporary. You really wouldn't notice it, because you seem to be still on the lake portion, but it is a water bridge, and cars and busses go underneath.

Great update! WL is definitely one of the hotels I want to stay at! I love love love seeing MK and the castle for the first time! Can't wait to hear more about your trip. You're so lucky the crowds weren't bad, they were pretty bad when we went.

Good update! WL is so pretty around the resort common areas, so I hope we get to see pictures of the rooms! Loved the monorail shot! The pictures you posted made me feel like I was there...checking in, going to the park, being so excited to be there!!

Great pictures!!!!! Looks like you have a nice afternoon in the MK :)

Great update!!!

Yeah, I wish that AP's were more like the credit cards that they give to everyone, but I guess they must have some reason for giving you those flimsy paper ones even though I can't seem to figure out why that would be.

I swear they've said the paper ones work better. YEAH RIGHT. I like the plastic ones a lot more.

Ahhh the Wilderness Lodge is beautiful beyond words. The pictures of the lobby are so nice even though its so hard to get a good one in there because of the lighting. Just looking at the pictures bring back such a warm feeling :)

What a gorgeous view of the MK from the boat! I remember riding the opposite way, towards the WL and its breathtaking. Then of course the first look at the castle gave me the chills! Can't wait to be there again! :thumbsup2

I know, I love the lobby. :goodvibes But yeah, it is hard to photograph unless you have a really good camera or know what you're doing (which I don't fall into either of those categories...).

The view was so neat, just like the one on the boat approaching DHS. I should compile a list of my top 10 favorite views in WDW. That would be cool. :cool2:

Hey girl! I'm joining along on your trip report!

I love the feeling of walking down Main Street on the first day of vacation!

Hi Lauren! :welcome: Thanks for joining in!

I love it too. That first visit to the MK is always great. :goodvibes

Great update!! I love WL, but I have never been to the Villas. You have some really good photos of the lobby!

Thanks! You should go over to the villas sometime, especially if you like the WL.

Love your pictures of wilderness lodge! I really want to check that one out. It's pretty much the only hotel I've never even seen! Look how empty MK was mid afternoon!

Thanks! You are going in December, right? You should go then...it's even more amazing all decorated for Christmas!

I know, it's so crazy how you don't feel like you're in Florida. Random question: did you ever hear all those strange noises coming from the woods at night?! What was that? We kept trying to figure it out...was it birds or frogs? It was so odd!

Really?! I am still thinking if you order your tickets ahead of time you get the plastic ones because I know the tickets we used last May and Dec. were plastic and we did not get those at the hotel. Hmmm...

You're welcome, glad you liked the pictures. Still wish I had more to share. :guilty:

Yeah, you should stay there on your next trip! ;) You'd love it!

Ohhh boy, let's hope they had their ME tags on...:rotfl:

Hmm, I don't even know if we saw the bridge! If we did I definitely was not paying attention but I know what you're talking about. We drove under it on the way back to the WL.

Great update! WL is definitely one of the hotels I want to stay at! I love love love seeing MK and the castle for the first time! Can't wait to hear more about your trip. You're so lucky the crowds weren't bad, they were pretty bad when we went.

The crowds were not bad at all that afternoon but it wasn't like that the whole time. Dad said it was more crowded than he expected but still not bad. Our standards are a lot different than some people's since we've been there over the holidays and have seen the swarms of people.

Good update! WL is so pretty around the resort common areas, so I hope we get to see pictures of the rooms! Loved the monorail shot! The pictures you posted made me feel like I was there...checking in, going to the park, being so excited to be there!!

Glad you liked all the pictures!

nice!!!

any room pics??!!!!!

Can't wait for more!

No, sadly I don't have any room pics. I did that once at Saratoga Springs...when we got home and were looking at all the pictures we took, Dad saw it and thought I was nuts. haha!

Great pictures!!!!! Looks like you have a nice afternoon in the MK :)

It was a great afternoon...we were able to do quite a few attractions!

Oh my gosh, YES!! I heard those noises and had no clue what they were. Aaron seemed to think they were some kind of frogs. Me...I thought they were some kind of demonic frog-bird creatures sent to annoy the pooh out of me! One night, we were sitting outside and it just got louder and louder and LOUDER. Crazy!

Hmm...I'm not sure about the tickets then. I know last year, I had to get a replacement at the park and they gave me a paper one and told me about the plastic ones at the resort. I haven't actually ordered them from Disney for awhile (I use Mouse Savers). Those are always paper ones too. I hate the paper ones. The plastic ones hold up so much better...plus they're just cooler! :rotfl:

I also found it odd about the whole DME drop off but I guess they go in order of price although GF is more expensive than Poly so I'm not sure about that theory but I assumed it was just at non busy times that they grouped all 4 like that but maybe not!!
..I'll have to warn Ddad bc we're 80% sure we're doing the WL trip with DME so I guess I better warn him of this, although our flights we're looking at get in between 10:30-11:30pm so maybe it won't be as horrible?!!

Great update Sarah!! So did you decide to book the trip for the game??? I know what you mean, we are going to WL for dinner ate WC, and I think it might be a bit strange walking into the lobby, cause last time we were there, there was a huge Christmas tree there too!!!

Joining in.:goodvibes Great start so far!!:thumbsup2 Love the pictures of the WL!! I hope to stay there someday.:cloud9: Can't wait to read about your afternoon at MK.popcorn::

Yeah, it was so weird! I really wish we could've figured out what it was. :confused3

I agree, the plastic ones are way cooler!

Yeah, who knows what it would be like at night. I know when we got there pretty late (all thanks to our flight being cancelled and having to be put on another one) and were staying at Saratoga Springs we stopped at OKW I think...

Thanks! No, we haven't booked anything. :sad2:
