Fulton's Crab House Opinions

Well, we each got an appetizer @~$10-15 each, King Crab @ ~$50 each, a drink @~$5 each and a dessert @~ 10 each

That comes to about $325 and then on top of that, add in alcohol and tip...

yep, over $400!:scared1:

And now you know WHY it's not on the DDP.

For $30 a day they can't afford to give away $50 entress. So apparently they made the decision most Disney area resturants NOT owned by Disney are afraid to..... They didn't dumb down the menu to make money they walked!

I understand not trying someplace again after being "burned" It's why I won't ever waste my money on the GF for example. HORRID stay, why should I waste my money again!:rotfl: (Truthfully it was horrible and the staff was flat out rude. Give me the All Stars any day!)

I was burned at Fultons 4 times in 4 different years--will have to think real hard about giving it another shot.

When was the last time you went? We went back in 2000 and the service was awful. I don't even remember much about the food, but the service was so bad we vowed to never return. And we're not hard to please, either: in all our trips there have only been 2 instances where we've received sub-par service at a WDW restaurant: Fulton's and Portobello Yacht Club.

Since that was 8 years ago, I'm wondering if we should give it another try.

KimR, it sure sounds like it! Try it! Off the DDP, and possibly changes in staff and management in that time, would make a big difference!

Maybe you could plan dinner someplace else in DTD, but start your evening at Fulton's with a drink and an appetizer. Then you can check out the service and taste the food without the full investment, and decide whether or not to go back.

I love that I can walk into Fulton's most any night, since it isn't on the DDP. Then again, I would hate for them to go out of business because they were off the DDP!

OT but I'm so glad I'm not the only one! ;)

So true, we didn't have ADR's for either visit!:rotfl:

Fultons was very good and VERY expensive. I seldom spend that much at one meal. There was soooooo much food. I dont know how two people could be expected to eat what was brought for DW and me. It was a unique dining experience. I think it was worth it, but I would not do it EVERY time.

BTW, we are in Tennessee also.

We tried it in 2001 and did not have a very good experience. At the time our local Red Lobster had better quality seafood and service. But with all these good vibes I might have to try and convince the boss to try it again, if it doesn't go well and she wants to kill, me I will blame all of you.:rotfl:

OT-Is the Bloody Mary the same as what we call a Ceasar(sp) up here in Canada. The last time I ordered one in the States they brought me a salad:rotfl2: (Canadians will get it). Our version has Clamato Juice, vodka, wirshuster(sp) and spices along the rim.

Bloody Mary contains vodka, tomato juice (sometimes V8), lemon juice, worcester sauce, tabasco sauce, horseradish when they are made from scratch. Some people use a mix, but I personally like scratch better. a modification called Bloody Maria substitutes tequila for the vodka. I have never heard of Clamato Juice.

It's a Canadian thing. I don't have one in the house but it is a brand name tomato based drink with spices, the closest thing I think you have is V8.Other than that the recipe you have sounds real close, substitute Clamato for the tomato juice and drop the horseradish. My uncle who is in Boston loved them so much he stocked up on the pre-made ones up here and took a whole bunch home with him, five two fours, the boarder people must have thought he was nuts:laughing: .

Horseradish AND Tabasco?? That must kick hard:scared1: .

Sadly, Fulton's no longer tries to produce good food. It was wonderful when it first opened. It served some of the best seafood Central Florida had seen up til then. Then the business model or something changed. Corners were cut.
The restaurant is owned by Levy Restaurants, which seems to have lost the passion to do good food. <sigh>

How long has it been since you've been there? We were just there and super impressed with the freshness of the seafood, an overall excellent dining experience.

I totally agree with you. My crab was outstanding! But, as in all restaurants, whether a critic or not, I believe it is a matter of taste and preference and expectations.

Hope I'm wrong about Fulton's. It would be nice to think they've decided to go back to doing good seafood!

:) I am glad to be hearing more positives than negatives for this place. We live on the Gulf Coast and know seafood. The crab claws and claimari are to die for. We are going once this trip and treating my parents--but we usually go twice during our trip and really love it. It is the one place we really look forward to. I hope this year it is what we expect.:santa:

Count me in as another HUGE fan of Fulton's! We go every year and are never disappointed. I have had no problem whatsever with the service and have enjoyed my meal every time.

For those of you worried about the price, I would just like to let you know that you can order half portions of some dishes. I just love the King Crab Claws but find that $50 a little pricey; the CM pointed out I could just get a half order; here's what it looked like:

Those claws were meaty and the perfect serving size!:thumbsup2

That is nice to know about the half order--I did not know that. But I have to tell you when we were there in September I was "Miss Piggy" and finished the full order of the Kign Crab Claws and was wishing there were more. :rotfl2:
