Frozen Holiday Premium Package at HS

I do think people are crazy for paying this amount of money for what's being offered. But who cares? I'm just a stranger on the internet. If you're happy with your choice, who cares what other people think? I'm sure plenty of people think I'm nuts for scheduling a whole entire trip to Disney this summer just to do the Frozen stuff (including the premium package) but I really don't care what they think. We went, we had a blast, and I don't feel like the money we spent was a waste.

I do think it gives them less incentive to add things to the parks though, that's not a good thing.

I do agree with this. The Villains Soiree was a slippery slope, because by doing what they did, they also took away from the value of a regular MNSSHP ticket. From that viewpoint, I should be happy that this Osborne Lights dessert party (let's be honest about what it is) isn't decreasing the value of a day's admission to guests who choose not to participate, so maybe the Villains event isn't trend-setting.

This is my biggest problem. I might be able to get over the $89 for me and DW -- after all, with a few drinks, there is at least some semblance of value. But $59 for DS7 seems pretty shocking -- and $89 for DD10 just strikes me as insane.

I have booked it because I'm going on a busy day, but my current strong inclination is to cancel unless I hear some unexpectedly great things from the early reviews.

In the end, I suspect the $89 for DD10 will be my breaking point; I just can't imagine hearing anything so magical that I will be able to justify it. But I guess time will tell.

This is yet another example of why Disney needs a middle package, to transition between child and adult. At the least. Ideally, redefine adult. With few exceptions, your typical 10-12 yo does not consume near what an adult does. I think they'd go far in their guest relations and have only a minimal impact on their bottom line if they'd up their Adult age to 13, leaving 12 and under as Child.

No way they will ever do that for park admission, but they could separate out dining and events.

YES- can we just update this thread to say "Osborne Lights Dessert Party" b/c it really is just that. It is annoying that Disney is attempting to bank on the "Frozen frenzy" by adding Frozen items here and there.

Maybe the lights will have Frozen movie theming in some way?
But what I've seen so far from Sun and Mon it looks the same as the past few years. A few weeks ago we stood in awe watching them build a moving platform. Sunday when we came back after a couple weeks away that huge moving display was moved pretty far away from where it was being built. That was cool!

It was actually the Food & Wine Late Night Live event that got cut back and not the premium package, of which admission to the Late Night Live event was a part.

As noted, there is no mention of character greets in the description of the Frozen event package, which indicates that there won't be any personal character greets. Frozen characters do appear in the Frozen singalong show, but that can be accessed without the package.

I think I am getting them all confused now there are so many :)

I didn't even think of that part, $89 dollars for a 10 yo to eat dessert (and see things they can see with a park ticket) :crazy2:

Makes me think that this event isn't targeted at families at all.
Maybe they are going for couples/friends who like to drink and eat and hang out in the lights. That I could see as a fun night.

Hi folks,

We'll be at HS at Christmas Day and we have booked HBD fantasmic package for lunch. What do you think? Would it be too much doing both? Would it be too rush? We are 4 adults.

Thanks

I think trying to do the desert party in conjunction with the early F! show is a bit tough. You need to look at the timing to figure out if you can get in enough time at the desert party to make it worthwhile.

Heck, not only that but it's $89 for a 10 yo and they can't even have a drink!

If I pay $89 for a 10 yo that ten yo will either eat 20 cupcakes or have their first hangover the next day ;)

Having done the Frozen summer thing I thought it was good value just for the dessert party and fireworks tbh. But, from what I see here, not that much Frozen and the dessert party is inside without a view of the Osborne Lights, am I wrong about this last point? If I aren't then you are paying to not see something you could otherwise see at no additional cost???

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

And I used to complain about the $60 chicken nuggets my daughter had at CRT when she was 10. At least we met 5 princesses and took a photo home with us that day.

This is something we will never do. Not only does my now 13 year old daughter not drink, but neither do I. So I doubt I would get value out of any of these events that include alcohol.

Still, it is interesting to watch Disney steamroll forward with these events at ever increasing prices. It's like they're trying to find the point at which the public will say no.

I'm holding out for a dessert party at Cindy's. As we already have a singalong pass and plan to see the lights and visit Wandering Oaken's for some Frozen themed treats, I have a hard time justifying this cost for 3 adults and 2 kids.

However, a dessert party/meet and greet at the castle with some additional Frozen characters other than A&E (like Kristoff and Olaf) - and we are there. We have A&E passes for 12/5 - but my kids (and me) would love to meet other Frozen characters.

Makes me scared, though, to see how much they'll charge for this if they can get $89 per adult with no meet and greet! :scared1:

You won't get adult beverages at Cindy's so that will impact the price.

The Dessert Party will be OUTSIDE near Lights, Motor, Action at the end of one of the Streets of America.

And, the cupcakes will probably be mini-sized as they were for SWW and the Frozen Summer Dessert Parties... will need to eat at least 40 that are hopefully not stale as they were at the previous events.

Thanks for clearing that one up, I thought I must be wrong, outside makes miles more sense (maybe not $89 of sense to me). If people find value in it, each to their own. I have friends who think it's crazy to spend money going back to the same place on vacation over and over and over and over again, they are entitled to their opinion (they are wrong though), the value in this event is much more subjective :-)

Ps khibs is not me, Huey is me, khibs is my wife. I stole her phone to send silly messages to her contacts then posted a thanks for clearing up the indoor outdoor thing without realising it wouldn't be my username.

Yes, you are paying to see 2 things that you can see with no additional cost. Which means you are paying $89 for a pin, picture, deserts and drinks.
We paid $69 for it this summer and we probably got our money's worth by
#1, not standing out in the hot sun to get good seats for the Sing A Long, which by the way, is the best of all the Frozen events Disney has offered thus far
#2, DH and I took full advantage of the adult beverages. We weren't driving so it was nice to indulge.
#3, we took advantage of the ice cream treats and beverages offered earlier in the day before the parade.
The deserts at the party before the fireworks, not so good. Some downright awful. There was something blue in a pushup stick that was vile. A couple of the little cupcakes were not bad though. We did enjoy a nice view, with elbow room, for the band and dance party. We watched Chip and Dale do The Wobble, which may have been worth $69 right there

LOL... naughty, naughty, naughty. And you outed yourself with it on the Dis too ;) Don't worry, we'll keep your secret, wink wink.

Interestingly I enjoyed those push pops so to each their own.

Is that... is that a Yoda on the cupcake?

No noooo nooo... that's uh... Sven!

A green Sven?!

;)

These premium packages are a business trend. The point is to price high to segment the market. They are not suppose to be accessible pricing. These Premium packages that are popping up (different from the typical special events) are 100% price levers.

So pricey is part of the mystique. There is a segment of consumer that wants exclusivity...and price helps define exclusivity.

But you must have desirability too. And maybe if you've never gone to DHS during .holidays this sounds desirable but I'm not seeing it...

- seating for frozen show..(um it doesn't fill up and it offers fast pass)
- reserved viewing Osborn (don't most walk around? Do we desire to sit during Osborne?)
- desert package (is this different than the desert packages that cost almost half the price? )

So it seems the value is the alcohol and maybe that makes it desirable enough. Maybe for christmas week this is desirable enough.

But for me, I find this a off putting...I don't mind premium pricing but this feels like wool over the eyes.
