For those who live in Cal how crowded do you think DL will be that weekend when we arrive? Trying to decide if I want 2 days or 3. We have been before. But we have a very small DVC point package and it will eat most of our points! The other hotels will be pricy unless I stay off.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Lexi, it's Martin Luther King weekend - that could be crowded.

Happy New Year everyone! Very quiet in Cadillac last night (at our house anyway) as I slept right through it. This cough/cold/whatever it is has me ready for bed by 8:00 every night. Probably doesn't add to the mix that I drink NyQuil either. I suppose if it doesn't go away pretty soon I best head to the doctor.

I think I have a place lined up for us to stay between our Christmas cruise and this one. I have a very good friend that lives in Spring Hill and she invited us to stay with them - YIPPEE. How awesome is that??

Well, I suppose I have missed the beginning of the parade so guess I will go veg in front of the TV for awhile.

Happy New Year everyone!

Going to have to clean up the house today! Would rather just take a nap.

Getting excited! Tried to show DHs Cousins Wife all the great things about DCL in a booklet I picked up from a TA - but she wasn't feeling well last night.:rotfl: She will get more into soon or I will have to hurt her.:lmao:

She has not joined up here yet -

Still no room assignment for us. Have our travel arrangements lined out - just waiting a bit to actually make/confirm ressies.

We are not planning on doing Disneyland after the cruise.

Anyone putting together an order for those sailing certificates? Also - the fish extender magnetic boards/lanyard ideas - I want in on that!

Happy New Year everyone!

Yes, indeed, January 17, 2011 is MLK Day---a free day off for us Feds---and my birthday! I can hardly wait to spend that day with you all! In fact, I spend so much time thinking about the Panama Canal cruise---which is almost a year away now ---that I sometimes totally forget that we are flying to London IN 12 DAYS!!!! So I get to spend my birthday out-of-the USA for 2 years in a row---how cool is that?!:cool1:

By-the-way, if anyone has any idea where we should eat my birthday dinner in London (on a Sunday) please feel free to PM me! Or if you have any other London sight-seeing advice. Thanks!:) (We'll be seeing a Chelsea football game, going to as many museums as humanly possible in a week, shop on Regent street, visit the recently re-located Doctor Who store--we knew where it was in East Ham---now we need to find it off of Upton Park, figure out the Oyster card ticket system on the Tube, and change hotels---twice)

Sigh. And before any of that happens, I need to pack, not worry about getting through security and flying, drop the dogs off at a local kennel, and get rid of the re-ocurring sinus infection that has taken hold of me. Double sigh.

MLK Jr's Birthday Federal Holiday is Monday, Jan 17. Don't we finish on the 21st?

Probably. I was thinking it was the 16th.:confused3 but of course 15+6th is what you say-the 21st. Gee. glad I didn't make my ressies for the 16th:rotfl:

I'm excited to announce - I have a new room mate!! Her stage name is Lovingthemouse. As soon as we can get a picture taken together, I'll be sending Jeff new details to update the website. ! I'm REALLY excited!!!

Thank for the clarification. I think we will hope to get 2 nights on points at GCH. As for the night before the cruise I am looking at 3 options. Radison at the Port, the Hyatt, or Disney. Might use points might not. Might get a 1 way rental car if we end up staying at WDW. Had to work tonight. Not to slow but not too crazy. Glad my Gator's won. Looking forward to the Dream next week.

Go Gators!!! :woohoo:

We too are planning to spend a few nights at GCH on points. It will be our first trip to California so we hope to check out some of the other area attractions as well. I'm sure we'll run into you while we're there and hopefully it won't be too crowded. It's just too bad we're getting in on a Friday since it's the most expensive night. How do you plan to get from the LA cruise terminal to DLR? Perhaps if there are enough of us we could find a cheaper way to transport us all.

I take it that this means you have officially thrown 'the toad' overboard?? Sorry, couldn't resist. We will miss seeing Bruce but it was his call. I am happy you are please with your new roommate.

Well, here we are in a new decade - and hey, we are doing on a cruise in this decade (and I certainly hope more than one) - just too bad I can't say it is this year, on DCL anyway I can't say it. Cruising other lines always makes me realize how much I prefer DCL, it is good to compare. I did some research yesterday on the new port for us on the Christmas cruise - Roatan. That will be interesting, the other two are just GC and Cozumel (Nachi, here I come) plus Princess Cay which I have already decided does not live up to CC - they have to tender! YUK - just takes so much additional time. Oh well, we shall see...

Have a good weekend everyone. Gotta start taking down that tree - didn't I just put it up??

We still have decided about DL yet. :confused3 I am guessing we will need a couple of day reprieve at home before we head back to work, so it is probably out for us. We are thinking of WDW on the front end though.

I did some research yesterday on the new port for us on the Christmas cruise - Roatan.

We went to Roatan with Royal Caribbean. I was hoping to dive there, but ended up a little ill so could not. Anyway, we did the island tour. Not sure I would recommend that again. It was fairly expensive for what we got. We did get to drive around the island and see a church, a shopping area and something else and somewhere on the ride we got an ice thing - I forget what it was called but it was not ice cream. Maybe more like sorbet. I want to go back and scuba dive, my DH says it was some of the best diving he has ever done.

Thanks for the input. Maybe my resolution should be to learn to dive - we just snorkel. I did read that the second largest barrier reef is there (with the first of course being Austrailia) and that both the diving and snorkeling are supposed to be very good there. New places are always fun to research and explore.

We are doing transport with Disney from the port to DL. Last time we used Prime Time shuttle on our Hawaii cruise. It was a night mare. He could not even find DL with a GPS took us 2 hours to get there! Taxi's were about $80. Hubby does not want to drive.

Is that her real name?:lmao:

Oh dear. I am so excited. How am I ever going to get through the next year?

We are not telling the kids until Christmas. It's going to be torture.

I have a few questions for you veteran Panama Canal Repositionists.....

What are some likely excursions in Puntarenas Costa Rica? I know it's awfully early but we are going to Guanacaste Costa Rica next month and the kids want to book all kinds of excursions and I am, of course, trying to save some for the cruise. Can anyone give me some enlightenment?

Which stop is likely to have the best snorkeling?

What is the current DCL policy on bringing your own beverages on board?

How many formal nights and when are they likely to be?

Pirates in the Carribean? Pirates in the Pacific? Just where are those pirates going to show up?

Staying at DLR post cruise? Any suggestions as to where to stay?

Happy New Year Everyone and thank goodness I have you all to Dis with for the next year or I'd go nuts!

Thanks! Les

OMG! I would pop if I had to keep my mouth shut - all that smiling would have mine suspicious although I booked us (our kids are grown and gone) and they didn't find out until just recently. I give you credit - I just couldn't do it.

I have not cruise before so I am clueless on your questions but I do think the formal night one has been answered. We did the Southern 11 night on the Wonder several years ago and there were more than 2 nights but I think all they added was another semi - I think.

Well, I always did say I was confused in Cadillac - guess I am right. I will now step aside and let a true vet respond.
