From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

We have just arrived home!!! Are we the final ones to do so? We have had an amazing vacation. The cruise, DL, San Diego, and finally almost 3 weeks in a pool home. Wonderful. Now I am ready to do it all again after I have unpacked of course.:lmao:

Welcome back.

We are final official. I managed to get my vow renewal booked for our Mexican Riviera cruise in October and also got the confirmation from DCL last night. Now I have a lot of decisions to make. I am a bit torn about the venue. I always assumed that we would have the ceremony on deck 7 as I am not too keen on Cadillac Lounge, but now I have found out that Outlook Cafe is also an option.

Corinna! That is so exciting!! Congratulations!

OK - so - Fantasy is going to Puerto Rico in 2012 - St. Maarten is being dropped from Eastern itinerary. 3 ports - 3 days at sea. Interesting.

Still not sure I want to cruise with 4000 of my closest friends.

Come on DCL - give me something I want to book!!

I really love the idea of this. I really want to spend my birthday with the Mouse. If we were to book the November 3rd sailing, then I could be at WDW for my birthday. I would have preferred to spend my birthday on the ship, but I don't think I can talk Graham into a Western.

I would be interested in a cruise which included Puerto Rico. Do you know when the DCL web site will be updated to show Puerto Rico instead of St Maarten? How about the summer 2012 itinerary for the Wonder and Dream?

I have noticed that the Mexican Riviera itinerary continues to change almost weekly. Mazatlan, Mexico is on then off (due to drug violence I think), with two days in Cabo replacing it. Today Mazatlan is back on with the notation "Alternate Itinerary C" on the schedule. Any insight into this?

I was talking with a DCL rep who happened to be visiting my TA's office yesterday. She couldn't/wouldn't tell me anything that wasn't on the web. She did offer to come to a Nor Calif DISboard meeting though, if she could arrange a time and we could find a place.

We just moved our dummy date we booked on the PC cruise to the 10/20/12 Eastern. It is a normal Eastern, the same we are taking in Oct. We are still calling it a dummy date as if they do a Hawaii cruise or two, we will for sure move this to that, now just waiting.

How about the resort in Hawaii...

Itinerary changes on the MR are due to violence:sad1:...as were the time changes that happened on the PC cruise. I heard from a CM.

I have no insight into this but it wouldn't surprise me if DCL pulled out of the MR altogether.

There was some discussion of the cost of transit for the Wonder. I really don't know what they paid, but it is based on capacity AND number of staterooms. There is a different charge for an empty stateroom than a full one. I was told a couple of different times that the Magic paid $437,000 and that the Wonder was around $400,000 due to the fact that there were fewer guests this transit.

On the TA cruise my husband started with a slight cough and by time the Med cruise began he was really coughing and had a sore throat. He finally gave in and went down to medical and for over $100 they gave him Tyendol. The cough got worse and he went back down and this time they did give him an antibiotic. It cost over $100. We had the trip insurance and so we got the money back after we got home. He asked for the antibiotic the first visit and they said he did not need it. I know they do not like to give them unless definately necessary. We told the doctor the first time that he usually needs the antibiotic . We would never go anywhere without the trip insurance.

I'm sure they'll update the site soon. We did San Juan on the Magic back in 2004 for our honeymoon. It was a nice port. We did an excursion to the El Yunque rain forest and had plenty of time to walk around as well and check out the Morro Castle. Definitely worth a visit.

I don't have any great insight, but I do know our Mar 2012 MR I booked on the PC cruise has always been listed with the "Alternate Itinerary C" on our reservation. I was thinking it might have to do with the port times for Cabo since it's a tendering port.

Alternate Itinerary C is the original itinerary with Mazatlan. This is what we have for October. Alternate Itinerary A and B have both got two stops in Cabo, but one has them back to back and one has one stop at the beginning of the cruise and one at the end.

Ditto! And a special big THANK YOU to Carmen!

I have to make it through helping DH assemble DD's playset and having DD's 3rd birthday party this weekend, then I should be able find time to upload the rest of my photos and video.

We had a great time at WDW this past weekend, especially meeting up with the Lungstrums again. Glad we made it back for a final farewell to Toontown.

We had a great time too and were glad to meet up with you. Sorry it was only for a short time. DS keeps asking if he can bring your DD places! I don't think he realized we got off the ship and don't live one floor away from you anymore :confused3 Let us know the next time you'll be around and hopefully it won't be so crazy for us time-wise.

I received a reply from Disney concerning the letter I sent about some problems on our cruise. It was little more than a form letter. They thanked me for letting them know some of the problems etc. Did anyone else hear back from Disney?

Hmmm....what do you have in mind???:confused3;):thumbsup2 We love Hawaii.

I am thinking next winter. We have -26C today. Clearly I should be somewhere WARMER.

I'd love to know what was said. I have to say that I am the last person who would ever complain about Disney BUT I was a little disappointed with this cruise. The staff tried hard but they should not have been letting new staff cut their teeth on a cruise of this length and with this kind of pricetag. As an example, they screwed up our wine package and as a result we went 2 bottles short. They recognized the mistake but no apology, no credit...just no wine, despite a pleasant enquiry. Some of the food in the dining rooms was, not that great:sad2:. In other cases, I was amazed. My daughters favourite stuffed animal that went missing in Costa Rica last year was allowed to come to the security at the gangway in Puntarenas and "find" her. That was WONDERFUL. I guess I am just used to being always AMAZED by Disney and NEVER disappointed. The disappointments were a shock....in fact I think I am in denial!!!

Most of the magic on this cruise came from the nice people I met here and on board.

You are so right. I couldn't believe I had to make a complaint in writing about Clayton. Something was defiantly off with this cruise. I will chalk it up to growing pains. For my next cruise or two I will just lower my expatations a bit. I still think overall DCL is the best.

That's exactly what I told them in my letter - that I needed to "lower my expectations". To a company that wants all "excellent" ratings, that SHOULD be a wake up call. We shall see. I have two cruises on the Magic booked this fall.
