From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

Hey MouseAdventure on the High Seas players!

If you are ready to play on land, details have been announced for the next game in Disneyland on April 10.
There is an Advanced (both parks), Basic (Disneyland) and 101 Edition (similar in vibe to what you all played on the ship (DCA)

I can't post the link here, but you can go to the site on the bottom of the MA on the High Seas sheet or the link from our PC cruise, google Mouseadventure (or you can PM me).

Hope you can play! :wizard:

Finally got all my photos uploaded to walgreens and prints ordered. Now to start on the smugmug. Having to divide them up into categories will be a bit of a pain, me thinks.

With having over 30 participants we are bound to have 1000s of pictures. If there weren't categories, it would take forever to locate pics that are needed. Yes, might take a bit longer to upload but will save tons of time when locating pics. Sorry it's going to be a pain but I've even had requests for additional categories.

:surfweb:I am in the process of uploading all my photos and yes, it is taking some time. When I say "all" my photos, I don't mean ALL my photos, just the ones that I think someone will find useful.:lmao:

If it helps any fellow Smug-Muggles, this is what works for me.

:upsidedowI copied all the photos that I wanted to share into a separate "SmugMug" directory on my hard drive.

:upsidedowFrom there I uploaded to SmugMug, one category at a time.

:upsidedowWhen I had uploaded the photos to the site, I moved the photos into a subdirectory that was labeled "DONE". That way I know which photos are left to upload.

It does take time (even more so when DH goes :rolleyes1 "are you uploading again!":rolleyes1 But I did have 5 cameras to download, sort through and organize. (Each of the 4 of us us had a point and shoot and then I also had my big Nikon with me) Thank heaven for Photoshop :cheer2:

Mostly just the PC day left for me now and a few straggler photos.

I am looking forward to seeing what photos others have taken.

I spoke with a manager at DCL who indicated they don't know the schedule for the Wonder beyond April 2012 and do not know when the rest of the schedule will be published. He would not talk about the possible trip to Hawaii. However, I did find a schedule of passenger and cruise vessels for the port of Honolulu - calendar year 2012. They are not on the schedule for Maui or Kauai ports - darn. I am sure they could cancel this but obviously they have some plan.

Walgreens was able to recover the pictures from my camera card. It cost $39 and it was well worth it. So if anyone has a camera card that goes bad don't throw it away.

Now to start sorting through all my pictures. Linda and Eilean I don't think I am going to scrapbook them. It will take me forever.

Thought about going on the Magic in April when they came out with the FL rates but we have too many other places that the money could go to right now.

Hope the weather up North is improving.

So glad your photos were able to be recovered. :thumbsup2

I know were I will be 9/16/12

Glad the pictures could be recovered.

They are supposed to announce the new cruises in April but who knows the exact plan. If I hear anything - will let you know.

Our family got to meet up with Shirley and Doug on Saturday evening for dinner at DGC. We had a nice evening and I was happy to see them again!

If anyone comes this way for Disneyland - let me know. Would love to meet up.

I leave on the ship in 5 weeks so I am working on my FE gifts and trying to get myself together. Seems like I just unpacked! I am glad I don't need to worry about flights or anything this time.

I love Hawaii and cruising too, but for the $$ I would much rather fly and spend my time on the islands instead of the ship.

I had thought maybe the Magic would do this but the Honolulu scheudle states the Wonder. I am afraid that will not be for me.

THANK YOU for the instructions! It's still a daunting task - it's taken me two week just to edit what I have.

YEAH! Well, now you've got the photos back - maybe you can make one of those on line photo books - much faster than scrapping, but still a nice format to show them off in. And walgreens has 30% off this week.

I had thought maybe the Magic would do this but the Honolulu scheudle states the Wonder. I am afraid that will not be for me.

Wouldn't it be cool to do an Alaska, repositioning and then Hawaii, back to back to back?

Wouldn't it be [I said:
cool [/I]to do an Alaska, repositioning and then Hawaii, back to back to back?

Yes it would be but I am guessing that they are planning to go from LA, where they have a 2 year contract with the port, to Honolulu in May, spend the summer somewhere else, maybe Asia, and back to LA in September. That would mean, like the Baltic was only a one season event, they may not do Alaska next year.

I'm with Paula about spending time in Hawaii and not on a ship - unless you have time to do both. It is a 4 day trip from LA to Honolulu, 5 hours by air. I think cruising to Hawai, spending a couple days in Honolulu (can't miss the Hula Bowl Flea Market) and then spending a week or so on Kauai would be perfect.

If I was betting, I would think they haven't decided what they will be doing next year. If I was them, I would have two business plans, one including summer in Alaska in 2012 and one going to Asia, with a stop over in Hawaii. I would wait and see how this years bookings for Alaska go before deciding. Alaska is a very expensive place for cruise ships to dock and tickets into the glacier areas are limited, with Princess owning Alaska. Most likey why they aren't going into Glacier Bay nor college Fjord. Now if they were going from Anchorage, with a land excursion through Adventures into Denali, I'd be there in a heartbeat. I am sure they have or are exploring that option too.

Robin - Your minnie pin arrived this afternoon. I'll box up the 4 pins and ship them off to Corrinna. Sorry we weren't able to get the Donald and Pluto but I know she'll be happy to get these.

Tami - Glad to hear you're feeling better, I was beginning to wonder what happened to you.

Val - Love the pin displays.

I'm right there with everyone else on sorting through all our pics.

My 6 yr old niece's trip to WDW/Dream cruise this Nov maybe changing. Now she is wanting a longer cruise and doesn't care about the parks. I've been trying to decide whether to do a B2B on the Dream to give us plenty of time to really check out the ship, or do the Eastern or Western on the Magic. Any advice? I'll have both nieces 11 & 6.

We did the eastern / western Magic, and it was downright fabulous wonderful perfect! I wish I could afford to do it again!

Quick question for those who have sailed the TA on the Magic - are children numbers comparable to the PC cruise ?

DH and I are considering tying in a trip to Europe with the TA if that's where they decide to send her back in 2012.....

Cheers,
Sally (who's going to spend the rest of her life planning holidays.....)

The numbers on last year's TA were as identical to the PC as they could be!! 1800 total with 300 children(all the ages)

Funny as it sounds, it felt like there were a few more 5 - 12 year olds on the PC. On the TA there seemed to be more preschoolers instead. I don't know if the time of year had anything to do with it with schools just having started a new school year and being a bad time to take children out of school.

I will probably get flamed for this but I would not do Alaska with Disney but the repo from Vancouver to LA to Honolulu would be awesome but David could not deal with the seas I am afraid. And, as Val pointed out, I would rather spend my time in Kauai then on the travelling over the sea - even if it is on a DCL ship.

Wasn't that a fantastic time?? I liked the PC as well and would book one of those in a hearbeat as well. We are heading to WDW on 10/25 and on the Magic 10/29 for a Western. While I get a good amount of vacation time, I don't get enough for much more along with the visits to my folks and a family wedding this fall. But, I will have one or two cruises booked before I get off the Magic, just to play with.
