The shoes came.....

Yes, they are high, but the covered 1 inch platform makes all the difference. My Danskos and Sanitas are my comfort shoes, these are my knock my socks off shoes...

Jenn, those are gorgeous!!!! I can't wait to see them in real life. Congrats!

Jen, they are drop dead georgeous! Good for you!

I have to share something with all of you. Right before Garry passed away we bought a Christmas gift for our Disney Cruise friends and that was to be Garry's summer project to paint. Well that was the summer that never was, so Ryan just took it this past summer and said he knew his B would want him to do this for our friends for this Christmas....the Mickey Mouse door bell...hand painted by Ryan with complete instructions from his grandfather. We have two of them, but when I saw Ryan's finished product I just about lost it. I know Jan & Howie are going to be so thrilled. They are the only thing missing from this cruise, almost the only thing!

I can never tell you how much all of you have helped me. I can't wait to really meet you!

Harole Ann - It is lovely - what a nice tribute. Although never the same, you are very lucky to have wonderful family near you. Val

This looks and sounds fantastic. The only problem is if people from outside the USA want to join in, this becomes a costly exercise. Personally I would not mind sending the journals anywhere in the world, but I know that shipping costs from the USA can be prohibitively expensive if packages are going overseas.

Corinna

That's the understanding I have also of a circle journal, but I can say, having participated in several of them - it does get very expensive because you are mailing a book every single round (each participant sends her book around.) Also, unfortunately, if life gets in the way for one member, you may possibly not get your book back. (That happened to both Bookwood and I on a circle journal group we were in on another board.)
You're right, life often gets in the way. I know with the CJ I participated in, one person dropped out midway through because of some hurt feelings or something, and one of the coordinators was getting bashed because others had "disappeared". It got kind of nasty at the end. But the group was huge and even without delays it was scheduled to take over a year to complete. I'm sorry you never got your books back either.

We could run it like a page swap, though. Something like this:

a) pick a size - say 8x8 or 8.5 x 11 (simply because it's easier to mail those sizes than a 12 x 12),

b) each participant picks a topic (maybe off Tami's list?) and does a two page spread including mats for photos but not the photosthemselves.

C)make the number of copies as there are participants. (Sign and date the backs so everyone knows who made what page.) Digiscrappers - you get a break here - you only need to print off the same page x number of times:rotfl:

D) send all copies to the "point person" along with an SASE the same size

E) Point person sorts out 1 copy per participant and sends the new grouping back in the SASEs. If someone flakes and doesn't send in her pages - she doesn't get any back.

The benefits to this are - the Books themselves never have to be mailed. The pages only get mailed twice - once to the point person and once back to the participant.
Everybody gets all the pages.

what do you think about that idea?

That's a great idea for a page kit swap.
Or we could do it like described above where everyone picks their own size and theme, but posts it for everyone to see. And then instead of sending books around for everyone to make pages for, each participant will make pages in the size/theme for each journal owner and send them all at once to the coordinator to sort and resend. Instead of it being a "Circle Journal" it could be a "Spokes Journal". :rotfl:

what I aspire to

p_2655789.jpg

reality

As we prepare for the holidays and our cruise I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished."

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before starting on the FE gifts, I finished off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates, and a half bottle of scotch.

You have no idea how (mumblegrfl) good I feel right now.

Pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace. val

Thanks for including us, Kay. I'll pay you when we meet up.

I finished batching up the bracelets today. I ended up 15 short on adults. I've temporarily substituted youth sizes. They are stretchy so they will fit over most hands and are then fairly loose on your wrist. Carly and I both are wearing youth.

If you've already gotten your bracelets and they are a little too big let me know and I'll exchange for a youth. That way people who really need the adult size can have what they need.

If you question where your bracelets are just ask. I have a list of people who wanted to get theirs at the port or on the ship.
tenya

I can wear a youth one. Change us to 1A/3Y.

Here I come! Ugh I need to go see the dentist as my tooth just chipped off where I had a filling and soooo close to the cruise! Yikes! I knew I shouldn't have posted in that dentist thread and this is proof! :lmao:

Anywhoo...wish me well. Just the thought has the cold sweats coming and going, but I need to get this taken care of before we set sail.

So sorry! Best of luck to you :) I just had my root canal finished today. Not a pleasant experience. She said I had very active nerves and the ones around were feeling the effect. But, I think the worse part is my jaws hurting so bad from keeping my mouth wide open for 2 hours. It was the very last tooth on top so I had to for the work. Waiting on the crown but hope this is the last of it. Last cruise, I chipped my front tooth right before. Let's hope it doesn't come in threes because I know there will be a thrd cruise!

Well, off to enjoy visiting my mom. We had a rocky relationship for about 10 years but things have been great the last couple of years. I'm enjoying all this time with her :goodvibes

I know I have a DCL logo embosser, I just have to find it! It's small, less than an inch I think, but maybe you can put it in the center and do mickey heads around the outside (or vice versa) to make a really cool design. I'll look for it and let you know.

My packing list is growing and I still feel like I'm going to forget something.

OH THAT would be SUPER!

If digi scrappers are part of the general circle journal group, the pages would need to be printed, in my opinion. It doesn't seem quite fair for the paper scrappers to send paper pages complete with embellishments and get a digital file in return which they would then have to pay to have printed in order to be useable in their scrapbooks.

:rotfl:

I think in order for this to work - we need to agree on ONE size for all - and each person make ONE page or Pair of pages X times. Otherwise, it will become a nightmare for the coordinator.

The theme for this album is really the cruise, isn't it? So you have certain set things you know will appear

Embarktion Day/Port Canaveral
Lifeboat Drill
Castaway Cay
Aruba
Panama Canal
Puntarenas
Manzanillo
Puerto Vallarta
Cabo San Lucas
Debarktion Day/Port of LA
Day at Sea
Pirate Night
Golden Mickeys
Prince & Princess
Mexicali
Captain's Gala
Animator's Palate
Parrot Cay
Tritons

or
FOOD
DEck Parties
Excursions
Ports of Call
Around the ship
Ah! Spa!
etc.

8 1/2 hours to go.

Enjoy! I have a pin for you.
Ryan & I will wait and see it on the cruise. I was disappointed that Narnia was not listed for the cruise so I guess I will see it before we leave. I was to see Tangled before too. If Liz does not need me to help with her Christmas party decorating I might go tomorrow.:santa:

Our much anticipated cruise is almost here. We are pleased that you will be joining us on the Aruba sail and snorkel charter. The name of the charter company is Tranquilo Charter Cruises. You can read reviews of their tours on Trip Advisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti...nquilo_Charter_Cruises-San_Nicolas_Aruba.html. You may also wish to look over their website, www.tranquiloaruba.com which will give information about their company and the tours they offer. The family operating Tranquilo has been in the sail-tour business more than 30 years, and operates this tour for others three days a week. Licensed by Netherlands Antilles authorities for 22 passengers plus crew, 16 Disney Wonder cruises planning on this tour.
The Wonder is scheduled to dock in Aruba about 7:15 am and depart at 5:00 pm. We plan to meet on the dock, near the aft gangway, at 8:45 a.m. We will be holding up a sign with a Goofy picture on it. Most of us will walk to the marina, about a 15 minute walk, but those you wish to can take a taxi. Perhaps we can have them take our gear with them.
The tour starts at 9:30 am and returns at 3:30 pm. It includes narration, soup and sandwich lunch, fresh fruit, open bar, snorkel gear and instructions and casual fishing. The cost is $75 each, payable by credit card before 1-3-11 or cash on the day of the tour. If you wish to pay by credit card, you may contact the Tranquilo Skipper, Anthony, at sail.tranquilo@setarnet.aw. Reference the Disney Wonder cruise and tour date of 1-10-11. Also note that your contact persons are Robert & Valerie Vanderheiden of San Francisco. Anthony stated he would need the following credit card information: “I need to know what card, full name on the card, card #, exp date and last 3 digits of the security number on the back of the card.”
The weather should be warm, and the water clear and in the 80s. Rain doesn’t stop a lagoon adventure – sometimes the water visibility is even better under overcast skies. Regardless, be sure to bring sunscreen and the essentials you’d usually want at the beach. Shade, a cabin, and a head (marine toilet) are available.
I have received messages asking if there is room on this tour. I advised them that the tour is full but should there be a cancellation, will let them know. Please PM to confirm your plans do still include joining us on this excursion and that information and that the above mentioned information is correct and complete. Valerie & Bob
UPDATE Anthony's response to my inquiry on how to get to the boat.

Hi Robert,

So far I have just one couple inquire for credit card payments. As for where we will be, we will be at the Renaissance Marina http://www.renaissancemarina.com/

If you open that link, notice the biggest yacht moored in the aerial picture on the bottom left corner, we will be at the “L” shaped pier just to the right of that yacht. You can also clearly see part of the cruise terminal in that picture just to give you an idea of the distance.

As for directions, exit the terminal main gate and make a right. Walk for about 8 minutes and look for the red boat in the marina. Proceed to the Seaport Casino and find us at the fuel dock (L shaped pier).

My cell # is (297) 594-2173

Regards,

Anthony.

Hi here,

I was wondering if anyone had the personal email of Wideeyedwonder? She has not been on the boards since October and I need to confirm some info with her.

Thanks!

I can't beleive we are 3 weeks from sailing and that I am FIVE days from departure. I always feel like we wait and wait and wait and then it gets this close and in a blink of an eye, it will be over.

I know it seems like we've been waiting forever and now it's coming up too quickly.

On our 2008 EBPC...we were on thread 14 when we sailed....we were REALLY chatty! Of course..we did have about 3 months more between booking/sailing but still...:rotfl2:

Oh my!

I love it! :lmao:

I am cooking dinner tonight (big deal - potato soup!)

Oh how I miss my Mom's Potato soup in the winter. Someday I guess I should try and make it.

The shoes came.....these are my knock my socks off shoes...

Awesome shoes!

What a special gift for your friends, Ryan did an awesome job on the painting.

At work today I was looking at our budget schedule for 2011 and I don't see any way I can take off in March 2012 to cruise with my sister and her family. I guess she's on her own or has to find a different cruise in 2012.

Has anyone staying near the port planned any type of precruise get together-dinner or just a meet and greet together. We would love meet with some of the disboarders. Let me know.

I have four pair of dice and Yahtzee score sheets set out to bring. Not bothering with the dice cups as they would take up more room than I want to spare. We also have a deck of Cars UNO - but will play it like the Ratatouille version. Can't find that version in the stores - and it's "too much fun.":rotfl2: Maybe I should check eBay for it.

We can bring Pirate Dice...and some others...DH is a game freak! :hyper:

I am a brand new digi scrapper, currently trying to get all my digi stash organized in Picasa, so I haven't really made more than a couple of pages. I would LOVE to find Disney elements and papers!!!
There's lots of great Disney inspired digital products out there. Some designers give it away for free, some for purchase. There's even a message board solely dedicated to all things disney/scrapping related. And the nice thing about that message board is it's not just for digital scrappers, though I think at this point most are.

Robin, your pages are fantastic!! Where did you get the papers for the Disney Magic?
Thanks. I'm not sure which papers you're refering to. If it's the layout that says Disney Magic, I extracted the words from a photo. If it's graduation from Disney Sea University, I actually scanned the shirt DS got and used that for my background. (I just love the flexibility of digital!)

I would love to be part of a digital Circle Journal. How would that work, though, since you aren't allowed to share elements and papers digitally? Would people just make whole pages and save them a .jpg files?
In the digital world it's called a Quick Page and you'd save it as a .png so the opening for photos is transparent. All anyone would have to do then is plop their photo(s) behind the transparent opening, add a bit of journaling and a date, and it's done. I'm not positive, but I'd guess that sharing a finished quick page would be okay. It's not like you'd be giving the actual elements or papers away for others to use as they please, especially if you've added shadows and layered/clustered stuff together.

Oh, this is great. :cool1: People can have a choice if they want :-)

I have a pile in my bedroom - doesn't include clothes, but it is already at least a suitcase full. Ooops, don't tell DH - he thinks we will travel as light as we did to Europe this summer. However I was doing laundry every 3 or 4 days in Europe. That ain't happening here

I am a brand new digi scrapper, currently trying to get all my digi stash organized in Picasa, so I haven't really made more than a couple of pages. I would LOVE to find Disney elements and papers!!!

There are loads of designers that do Disney kits, but you don't necessarily need them to do a Disney page.

Have a look at Mousescrappers.com - its a great place for resources, challenges and ideas. Some very talented scrappers there :-)

My drive with my digi stuff on is over 500 Gigabites. OK that does include photos, but still. Lots of space. :scared1: DH is just sorting out a back up system for me, because if the drive that it is all stored on crashes, not only do I loose tons of digi kits, but also all our photos.
