From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

Wow! thread 5 we are a chatty group. Does anyone know what cruise had the most threads?

Goofprincess- Hope all goes well on Sat and the weather is great.

It is supposed to warm up in FL today. I amtired of wearing heavy clothes. Just hope Jan 6 is nice so we can have a great Sail Away Day.

I hope it's warmer as well. We were in the single digits yesterday with ice, sleet and snow. It doesn't have to be blazing hot, just warm enough to where I don't need a jacket.

Wow! thread 5 we are a chatty group. Does anyone know what cruise had the most threads?

On our 2008 EBPC...we were on thread 14 when we sailed....we were REALLY chatty! Of course..we did have about 3 months more between booking/sailing but still...:rotfl2:

Whew a new thread! I am finally able to come up for air. I caught up on everything from the last thread and am really looking forward to filling this one as much as we can for the next three weeks!
Things seem to have been flying since Thanksgiving, but that just makes the cruise come faster, so that's a good thing, right? I really appreciate those of you that kept me in the loop when I was out of it. This really is a great group and I couldn't ask to sail with a better bunch!
I have ordered but not received my FE and main SM gift. I have everything but the main component to my FE gifts, I will get that the last minute. I still have to do door decorations and wrap Christmas presents. Oh, and pack! It will all get done though, I am sure everything will come together.
I am sorry to read of all the sad pet news. Pixie dust to all those that need it. We are having some cat trouble here too. Our Hemingway cat is licking all the fur off of all four of her legs. The vet said it could be anxiety, so we got a plug in that emits what is supposed to be the same feeling they have when they rub furniture or your leg or what have you. I am also giving her special treats marked "calming", but nothing seems to be working. The vets second guess was allergies, so we will test for that next. I just want her to feel better and not have to lick herself so much. :confused3
Alan, I am glad to hear you are for sure on board for this cruise! I hope you are able to relax and enjoy yourself!
I hope everyone traveling in the next few weeks stays safe and everyone is warm and out of the snow! Have a great day everyone!

Tess - sorry your kitty is struggling. My sister's cat started pulling her hair out. The vets tried everything, changing her food, bathing her, different supplements for her diet. Nothing has worked. So good luck. We do so worry about our pets.

I need to start thinking about my FE gift, procrastinating a little, I know. Luckily I have the week between Christmas & New Years off so I can work on it then. I guess I need to start thinking about packing too.:lmao:

Aw it still has that new thread smell.:rotfl:

I like your sense of humour, Angela :)

Corinna - thanks so much for looking up the visa requirements :)

Tess - sorry to hear about your cat :(

Jen - congratulations on your grades ! :)

quick pop-in for me - I hope all is going well for you all... We're 7 days away from closing the front door for a month ! I am starting a travel blog - I'm not going to post the link publically, tho'. If anyone wants the link, you can PM me, or ask on the cruise. I still need to catch up with other people's Trip reports, too - Carmen and Belinda - anyone else ?

Today is blitz clean day - I have my side of the family coming for a Christmas BBQ t/row !

Have a great day / evening everyone.

Cheers,
Sally :)

Anyone want to do games like yahtzee, phase 10? I have them and will bring them with us if anyone wants to play. Finished my FE and am mailing the last packages for Christmas out today on the way too work! I am also going to get to meet the person who made my FE in Epcot before the cruise. So excited.

I have four pair of dice and Yahtzee score sheets set out to bring. Not bothering with the dice cups as they would take up more room than I want to spare. We also have a deck of Cars UNO - but will play it like the Ratatouille version. Can't find that version in the stores - and it's "too much fun.":rotfl2: Maybe I should check eBay for it.

What is a circle journal?

From http://www.intoscrapbooking.com/circle-journals/what-is-a-scrapbooking-circle-journal.html:
A circle journal is a scrapbook made by at least 2 scrapbookers. It is usually passed by mail from person to person. Circle journals typically have a theme, and each scrapbooker makes a one or 2-page layout on that theme before passing it on to the next group member. In most circle journal groups, the number of scrapbooks equals the number of circle journal members. Each album travels from member to member before mailing it back to the owner. A circle journal can be compared to a round robin for scrapbookers.

A circle journal starts with its owner, who decorates the cover and designs the title page and instruction page for the other members. Usually, the album includes a member sign-in page that becomes the table of contents when the journal is complete. Finally, the circle journal owner prepares a page layout based on the theme to begin the journal and as an example of the theme. However, part of the fun of a circle journal is seeing how the members interpret the theme and how it inspires them.

Choosing a format for the circle journal is an important step in the process. All of the journals in a group don't have to be the same size, but generally circle journals are mini albums, 6x6 or 8x8 size. However, it's not unusual to see them in a variety of formats, from 3-ring board books to spiral-bound albums. Check the Rusty Pickle line of scrapbooking albums for some unique options for circle journals. Remember that your album will be mailed a number of times during the circle journal process. Choose a scrapbook that is sturdy and that can hold up to lots of handling and shipping.

Make sure everyone understands that a circle journal includes a commitment of time and money. Design a schedule for completing the page layouts and when they should be moved to the next member. When there are several journals, ask one member be in charge of coordinating the time. Will everyone get 2 weeks to complete their page or as long as a month? One member holding up a journal can frustrate everyone.

The best part of a circle journal is when each scrapbook returns to its owner. Now months later, she has a keepsake album that provides a glimpse of her friends' different personalities and scrapbooking styles. Try organizing your own circle journal with your scrapbooking friends, or join one online at a scrapbooking forum.
These are the pages I made for my circle journal for the 2006 DVC Member cruise. We had a really large group participating, over 20, so it took a long time to get our books back. But my finished album is amazing.

what I aspire to

p_2655789.jpg

reality

As we prepare for the holidays and our cruise I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished."

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before starting on the FE gifts, I finished off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates, and a half bottle of scotch.

You have no idea how (mumblegrfl) good I feel right now.

Pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace. val

This looks and sounds fantastic. The only problem is if people from outside the USA want to join in, this becomes a costly exercise. Personally I would not mind sending the journals anywhere in the world, but I know that shipping costs from the USA can be prohibitively expensive if packages are going overseas.

That's the understanding I have also of a circle journal, but I can say, having participated in several of them - it does get very expensive because you are mailing a book every single round (each participant sends her book around.) Also, unfortunately, if life gets in the way for one member, you may possibly not get your book back. (That happened to both Bookwood and I on a circle journal group we were in on another board.)

We could run it like a page swap, though. Something like this:

a) pick a size - say 8x8 or 8.5 x 11 (simply because it's easier to mail those sizes than a 12 x 12),

b) each participant picks a topic (maybe off Tami's list?) and does a two page spread including mats for photos but not the photosthemselves.

C)make the number of copies as there are participants. (Sign and date the backs so everyone knows who made what page.) Digiscrappers - you get a break here - you only need to print off the same page x number of times:rotfl:

D) send all copies to the "point person" along with an SASE the same size

E) Point person sorts out 1 copy per participant and sends the new grouping back in the SASEs. If someone flakes and doesn't send in her pages - she doesn't get any back.

The benefits to this are - the Books themselves never have to be mailed. The pages only get mailed twice - once to the point person and once back to the participant.
Everybody gets all the pages.

what do you think about that idea?

That sounds like a fantastic idea and would open it up to us international guys as well.

Yes, I love to play games but DH doesn't. So please let me know and I'll have him take DD to the kids club and enjoy some game time.

:lmao::rotfl2: I've heard this before but it's just as funny the sesond time!

An additional embosser - that will be cool! Thank you.

I know I have a DCL logo embosser, I just have to find it! It's small, less than an inch I think, but maybe you can put it in the center and do mickey heads around the outside (or vice versa) to make a really cool design. I'll look for it and let you know.

My packing list is growing and I still feel like I'm going to forget something.

Hope your cat get better, pets eh? who would have them, they are such a worry !

Sounds like we have several digi scrappers going. Count me in. I have just purchased several disney related digital papers and elements. I would like to see what others have and where you got them. Maybe we could have a digi scrapper meet in the promenade lounge one day to exchange designer info for disney elements.

I am a brand new digi scrapper, currently trying to get all my digi stash organized in Picasa, so I haven't really made more than a couple of pages. I would LOVE to find Disney elements and papers!!!

Sounds good to me. I'll have my laptop and probably most of my digi stash with me on the ship. I'm hoping to get at least a little of the trip scrapped while still out to sea. I purposely have not signed up to participate in many of the planned activities on this cruise so that I have plenty of "me" time - something I didn't plan for last cruise.

If you'd like to see the pages I scrapped from the last PC cruise, you can look here. I still have lots of pics to go through and scrap from that trip, but I needed to work on a few other projects for a while. So much for completing that trip's album before leaving for this one.

Robin, your pages are fantastic!! Where did you get the papers for the Disney Magic?

I would love to be part of a digital Circle Journal. How would that work, though, since you aren't allowed to share elements and papers digitally? Would people just make whole pages and save them a .jpg files?

Called DCl to asked about which ports of call we tender and which we dock. Only tender in Cabo. That is good news. Let's pray we have better weather then others are currently having. Heard on the news a ship was suppose to arrive home at Fr Lauderdale yesterday but couldn't dock. Having to spend and extra night on the Wonder would be ok with him. val

Alan -- enjoy TRON tonight! We want a review for certain...it's been a long wait

Hello new thread!!!! Did someone mention 3 weeks?:scared1::scared1::scared1:

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Aw it still has that new thread smell.:rotfl:

Too Funny!!!

Tess -- pixie dust for the kitty! Our past border collies had allegeries to corn that developed around age 5, so we switched from regular Dog Chow to specialty non-corn dog food which cleared up the biting/chewing on their hot spots. Hope you find the cause soon!

Val -- I love the Dr. Phil help!!! I'm such a non-finisher, but a great starter!

Last night of studying for finals...this time Ancient Civilizations so we're going 'back in time' (insert Huey Lewis music here:laughing:)! Another proud Mommy moment -- 97 on the Pre-AP Geometry Final!! DD was praised with 2 new pairs of shoes -- :cutie:Keds tennies & Roxy booties:cutie: -- oh, and a bag full of cute things from Marshalls:cloud9:!

Tomorrow night we can start the suitcase packing!!! We'll be in the teen digits for countdown tomorrow too:hippie:

This is the best advise I have had since my husband passed away. Why didn't anyone tell me. I think I would never have gone thru depression, etc if this had been my moto! I bet you feel like a million dollars!

In all honesty I would never be ready for this cruise had I not come to my daughter's first and had to pack for the cruise to come here. If I forgot it, so what!l If it was vital, I can buy it here, otherwise, I don't need it. It is the most relaxed I have been in 20 months! All I have to do is wrap a few gifts and i did say I would trim the tree and I am cooking dinner tonight (big deal - potato soup!)

3 weeks!:rotfl2::banana::worship:

Jen, in just under 2 years those pesky bag fees on Air Tran will be gone when we welcome them into the Southwest family after the purchase is complete. As for Tron, only 10 hours and 37 min to go.

The shoes came.....

Yes, they are high, but the covered 1 inch platform makes all the difference. My Danskos and Sanitas are my comfort shoes, these are my knock my socks off shoes...
