SERIOUSLY on semi formal night can DH just wear a button down shirt instead of a polo??? no jacket?
I think pretty much anything goes, so I'm sure that will be fine.

On the other hand, I'm making DH wear his tux for all "dress up" nights because we never go out fancy otherwise. Plus, DS loves getting dressed up all fancy. He's just barely 6 but it started when he was 4. He'll come home from school and put on his tux (old one that we got him for last cruise 2+ years ago) and a tie to play. So if I didn't, he would insist we get dressed up on formal and semi formal nights. :rotfl:

ROOM TOUR UPDATE -TOUR SCHEDULED - sUNDAY, 1-16-11 - 3:00 PM
How it works: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. So, on a sea day, at an established time, (final time set after other event times are published) starting on the lowest deck, we visit the different categories of cabins. It is great fun to parade down the halls meeting each other and getting a real look at those rooms we all take only a quick peek into as we pass an open door. Additionally, it allows us to share cabin living ideas.
Update: In an attempt to manage the length of the tour and allow those opening their cabins to visit the other rooms, we are going to assign a scheduled time when each deck will be visited. Here is the breakdown of the number of rooms currently on each deck and time we will allocate on the deck. The tour will be on Sunday, 1-16-11 starting at 3:00. I will have the room schedule and tour times available in my FE outside room 6572.

Many thanks to the people who have generously offered their room on the tour.

Mixology and Hawaiian Shirt Contest Update
I have heard from DCL and we are a go for the mixology and hawaiian shirt contest. However, they insist they will only offer the session to groups of 25. They will offer the tasting 3 times, 1-11, 1-13, and 1-15 at 4:00 in the Cadillac Lounge. The ship stated the cost as $5 each - I think this may be an error as the champagne girls is $15 but when I asked Dorothy she said " that is correct"

So I need to schedule you into 3 groups on three sea days, (I must have been very bad in a former life!!!) Just like the champagne girls they are telling me they do not allow anyone under 18 into the tasting and will only serve to those 21 and older. So, I will take requests for which session you would like until the session is filled or until Monday. Those who I have not heard from by then I will put into a session on my own and post once I have completed the assignment. I can not schedule you in more then one session as DCL has said they will not add another session.

How It Works: Are you interested in a private DCL mixology tasting? Learn all about how those colorful drinks of the day are made and just who gets to name them. For some additional fun, we’ll have a Hawaiian Shirt Contest, seems to go with all those little paper umbrellas and tropical fruit.

Val, what ever is easiest for you. Put Mike and I together on any day that you choose

OK, since hearing about how someone broke their arm I have been uber careful. Took my adult kids to see the snow today. Had a great time. But when we got back to town to go eat I fall in the parking lot. Nothing broken thank God, but nasty scrapes on my knee and hands!

We had sewer installed over the last couple of weeks, not our choice, mandated by the city. Well they told us exactly where they would dig, even spray painted the ground. So we ran sprinklers where we wanted (no where near where they were to dig). They dug up all the sprinklers. They helped put them back together, but a week later we find several trees arent getting water. We have been digging like the movie Holes trying to find the leak. One pipe exploded (they didnt glue it) and still no water to the trees. We have 3 days to find the leak before we go!!!
Gosh it's always something.

I want to thank Val and Jeff and all the gang who have gone over and above to organize these activities for us. You truly deserve the platinum mickey ears award.

Can someone tell me what type of hairdryer is in the stateroom? Is it a decent "regular" one like you have at home, or is it the wall-mounted, weak one that is impossible to dry long women's hair with? I just want to know so I can save packing space if I can, thanks!

Weak worthless wall mouned one

I assume you have the MouseAdventure on the High Seas listed? (That's the real name for the "Scavenger Hunt" and it would be great if it was listed that way in the program!

Thanks so much!

Yep, I do, but not under that name so I will make the change. Thanks!

Glad the rooms are coming in...I'm making the updates as fast as I can get them. Not long now!!

Unless I hear from you not to, (and I am paid big bucks - just kidding) I will of course put cabin mates together in the same sessions. val

Ok SO I wanted to just share a story fast with people who might appreciate my doing things at the last minute, and having something magical happen when you least expect it.

5 years ago just before I went on my first Disney Cruise I was told by that I should bring my tux for formal night. While, my tux was in Minnesota (I was working at disney), so I asked for it to be sent to me, but I happened upon a formal wear store and I found a Joseph Abboud tux that I fell in love with. So I ended up purchasing it and got rid of the old tux that I bought used. Super excited that I owned a brand new tux I wore it plenty of times for formal nights and it came in handy to be honest. Well, since the last time I had to wear it I've "grown" and I just tried it on again this last weekend. While I immediately went to have the pants let out (will be back on monday) but I discovered the jacket just isn't going to fit. Now this really sucks as it can't be let out and it was obvious it was tight on me. So since I'm in love with this tux I went to see how much it would be to replace, and the tux rental places that carry the brand said it'd take a month to get just a new jacket and they don't have used ones to purchase. So I went to Nordstrom's and it was $750 for a new one. Hearfallen I wasn't sure what I was going to do...

As I had a groupon to Nordstrom Rack for $50 I decided to stop in on my way out of the mall. I noticed in the back of the store they have suits. SO I meander back and take a look in the area that has my (new) size and i'm just looking and I see at the VERY end of the row...a tux. And I open the jacket and It's a Joseph Abboud Tux...IN MY SIZE! Exactly like the one I needed to replace, and it was half off (rack price) and then Half off again (on sale) plus my $50 groupon...I got a brand new tux for $99!!!! I'm excited for formal nights again!

Doesn't a bargain make your day. Especially one like that. I got a $200 suit for $20 and an $85 dress for $7 so I was on cloud #9!

You are just fantastic! Love the tags! Thanks so much for all you have done! I still owe you a beer!:woohoo:

HELP

I haven't not heard back from DCL regarding the date, time and location for the Champagne Girls and Mixology sessions. They confirmed $18 per person per event and that they would do them.

I would assume the earliest I might hear back is Monday. I know many of those signed-up will not have a chance to opt-out if they don't like the schedule before they leave for travel. Do I give DCL the list, as I have it, and let them issue tickets and post the charge?

IS THERE ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT ME TO DO THIS AND WANTS THEIR NAME TAKEN OFF?

I think I have been very patient, sent a note once a week, called only once. I don't think this is very fair. In September they told me they would start working on the January schedule in November. This Monday they said they would have the arrangement finalized by last Tuesday. I explained I was holding off planning the schedule for the room tour and other people had things on hold because we were waiting on them. This is just not right.

Your thoughts?

I found a fantastic bottle of pink mascota today. Are we allowed to bring that to Champage girls?

I will have my own wineglass and I am not signed up for any of the other things.

I split a wine package with some friends once. The wines were not of sufficient quality to justify the cost (the lowest priced package)

Good news, it looks like we have the Cadillac Lounge on the 8th from 1:30-3:00 for the Wine M&G. Still hashing out the last bit of details, but at least something came back.

YEA!YEA!YEA!:cheer2:

I am glad that this is now sorted. I just remembered that I need to pick up one more gift for my Secret Mickey. I had nearly forgotten.

One more for me to!

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Poor Jasmine is going to spend her's under the bed as the neighbors are sending off endless fireworks and she is frightened beyond belief! My poor baby!

I can't believe how close we are to the cruise!!! I finally caught up on 45 pages of reading, haha. I wish I had been able to keep up with all of you chatty people, lol. You are all such a wonderful bunch and I look forward to meeting all of you. I also want to say a big thank you to all of you wonderful dis'ers who have helped put events together and get lots of brilliant things lined up :)
For those of you in the area now, I hope you are enjoying WDW. I was going to go to the parks tonight but we have been closed due to capacity since 10am! :scared1: If anyone needs/wants anything from property before the cruise, please let me know. Hope you are all as excited as I am!!!

Sounds wonderful but I don't really know what to tell you about bringing to the CG event. If you bring it you might want to not let DCL know you have it and open it before they come into the room or after they leave.

Took my cat to the vets for a follow-up. They said he is doing ok but they will keep him on steroids. Thanks to all who sent their good wishes.

We also went back downtown to the Gift Center so Bob could get that John Wayne lightup Christmas tree topper he saw yesterday. I felt bad all night that I had made him put it back just because it is so goosh darn ugly. They also had a Mr. Spock ("live long and prosper" hand up) light-up tree topper shaped like a christmas star - oh so special - not.

Val - we can do 1-11 or 1-13. We have an early Palo on 1-15.

Val -- Wally & I can best make the 15th event. The 13th would work but the 11th not at all.

Anyone need 'tacky tourist' outfit? I picked up a 1-piece costume at Target post-Halloween for 50 cents -- it should fit up to a men's XL...PM me if you want it!

Jeff -- $20 in an envelope ready for you & Wally will buy your beer during SciFi Movie time while Champagne Girls meet :lovestruc

Thanks to all who've made this past 16 monthes such a joy and all who've coordinating all our fabulous events! I look forward to meeting you in 2011...

The King's Speech was fantastic, Oscars should be given for Colin Firth & Geoffrey Rush and Best Movie...wishing there was time in the schedule for DH to see it before we leave!

I can't believe how close we are to the cruise!!! I finally caught up on 45 pages of reading, haha. I wish I had been able to keep up with all of you chatty people, lol.... Holly

Holly: Soooo close. I've got my pills counted, paperbacks selected, and batteries charged. I wait till the end to fold my shirts and slacks.

Don't tell Valerie I wrote this, because she threatened to take away my birthday, but: It's not just "chatty," it's all the endless duplication! I've seen a 12-inch long photo copied by a dozen people who then write, "haha" and others who quote five long messages with one-liner observations.

And at the end are seven dancing emoticons, six count-down calendars, five go -- old riiiiings!, two photos of pets in Mickey costumes, and every time they've been to a Disney property.

THAT's what takes 45 pages (about 450 screensful) of blather to sort through. When I want to respond (as I did with yours), I cut out the part not being commented on and ... put in elipses....

Not that I can keep it to 12 words when 120 will do.
