I have a lab that is a bottomless pit! DH made spagetti sauce last week, left it simmering on the stove and when about his business. Tracker put his front feet on the stove and licked right out of the pot! I am forever yelling, Tracker, get out of the kitchen! I keep their food in plastic totes (big ones) and both of them can get the lids off and will eat until caught. Now I stack them and there isn't space to get any lid off. But both of mine are big enough to just stand up on their hind legs and get whatever they want off the counter. But, I love them to pieces anyway. Dang dogs!

My dachshund is a bottomless pit too! It's amazing how much that little dog can eat. One day, I picked her up and her tummy was all swollen, sorta like a newborn puppy after they've had a nice meal from their momma. I was worried and my dad said that he had just fed her some leftover roast. She hopped up on the chair and started "moaning" and I know it was because she was miserably stuffed. However, as soon as she thought someone was eating the kitchen, she was waddling her way in there.

We had a dachshund jump on the kitchen table once while we were gone and eat an entire bowl of Halloween candy. We found gum wrappers, sucker sticks, and candy packages all over the house.

And Sandy, our mutt, we really have to watch what we leave on the counter. I had hamburger patties out ready to go out on the grill. Left the kitchen for a couple of minutes and came back to find over half the patties eaten. She's also eaten raw cookie dough (triple chocolate!) off of cookie sheets while I waited for the oven to preheat.

Crazy dogs, but I wouldn't trade for the world :goodvibes

Has anyone watched the show "My dog ate what"? It's amazing what they eat and that they have survived!

Trust me, after doing emergencys for 10 years NOTHING they eat amaze me:eek:
You name it, weve removed it.

I had my "water" vacation at home about a month ago. I had the plumber for three hours one night and all day on Saturday so I hope you have him for less time and the problem is an easy fix!:tinker:Here is some Pixie Dust to help out. It surely can't hurt anything!

I wish ... it's a total repluming job .. he's on day two and not even half way there ... but the house is a huge mess! :sad1:

Not a good day here today - my Godmother has passed away :( I grew up with no aunts, uncles, cousins, or grandparents, so she was very close - loved me and my children like one of her own :(

So, I may be a little quite for a while.

My heart aches for you at this time of sorrow. Do remember all of the good memories and that will be the very best thing you can do for all of your family. I am sure there are many.:grouphug: You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Harole Ann, can you send me a copy of the Mickey ear pic you have in your signature? I noticed yours has the correct date and I would prefer that over the blocked out one I made.

I copied it from page 1 of our website.

To everyone, take care of yourself and your loved ones as the holiday "crazies" are fast approaching!
Melissa

We really are the animal lovers group and we all have some good dog stories. Funny everyone mentioning the "crazy" things their dogs do because even little Jasmine runs through the house like a race horse as fast as she can go and dh would always say to her "run rat run" and she would take off at top speed and race down the hall around our bed, back down the hall, around the dining room table, into the living room and repeat the same trip until I thought she would drop. We would sit and watch her and laugh.

She has so many food allergies and I have to watch her like a hawk, but if I cook spaghetti she goes crazy when she smells the sauce so I give her a tiny taste. That is one of her very favorite things! She likes lettuce too!:confused3

Got the results of my x-rays today and everything is clear so now if this pinched nerve would just let up I think I will get moving in fine order.

Found a $99 pink dress at Macy's today for $15 so bring on the champage girls!:cool1:. Heaven help the suitcase!!

Our dog Blaze would run the same circuit through our living room/dining room -we called it his "rocket pup". Now the puppies do the same routine - I can't believe how much they run...now I have 4 dogs in a row running along like a runaway train!

ValBob - do you have any idea how long the hike through the jungle is and how strenuous?

I am very interested in joining your tour!

Thanks!

I hope you can join us. I had asked Alvaro about the walk in the park in one of my first e-mails. Here is a copy of my question and his response. If you give me more details about your concern I'll send that to him for a specific answer. I want to make sure it is a great experience for everyone.
Question: How much walking and how strenuous a walk is it? Can you accommodate people with limited mobility? Wheelchairs or strollers?
Response: No wheelchairs or strollers are useful on this park, the walk is easy for one mile going slow on flat trail. Those with limited mobility are allow to get into the park by car, no walking all at, but this is not the tour for them, aerial tram or boat trips are better.

I am so sorry. Hopefully the redo will go quickly.

All these dog running stories - we have had a few rescued greyhounds and we had one (Amos) that really did love to run. He would be all excited when we got home and we would let him out (fenced yard) and tell him to go vroom vroom. Ran clockwise and then counterclockwise and clockwise again. There are still spots where there is no grass out there. Then he would come in and take a 2 hour nap!

My parents had a really smart but really naughty german shephard. Ryan loved Sees Candy, but only the chocolate covered creams (we know chocolate is bad for dogs but he didn't). It didn't matter where you hid the box he would find it. However, he didn't like the chews or nuts. Instead of tasting them to find out if they meet his discriminating palate, he would smash them with his paw and if they weren't the creams push them away. Oh, he perferred to eat in bed, my mom's bed, on the white bedspread. White lacy and cherry pie don't go together well.

Such discriminating taste!;)

My mom and I went to the park a few years ago. Assuming it is the same one, the path to the beach was a pretty easy walk. There were one or two spots on a beach where the tide had come in that were a little difficult to traverse for some of the older people in our group. There is one side hike that was difficult, so watch for those. We did the side hike because they said you would see all sorts of Monkeys - we saw none. The people that stayed on the beach saw plenty. :confused3

I just found this on the Disney TA website (looks like the tweens are getting a new hangout before we cruise):

Catering to the vacation needs of every member of the family, Disney Cruise Line® provides ultra-cool plush pads exclusively for teens and tweens on each ship. Later this year, the names of these hip teen- and tween-only spaces will be renamed on the Disney Magic® and Disney Wonder®, and will be consistent with the names of the same spaces aboard the Disney Dream™.

The Stack and Aloft, located in the forward funnel of Deck 10 on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, will be renamed Vibe. Vibe, the coolest place for the teens, will be located on Deck 5 forward on the Disney Dream.
Ocean Quest, located on Deck 2 midship on the Disney Magic, will be renamed Edge. This perfect hangout for the tween set (ages 11-13) offers plenty of computer games and custom-created adventures. Edge will be located on Deck 13 on the Disney Dream.

:cool1:The Disney Wonder will also gain a new exclusive area for tweens. Edge will replace the conference rooms on Deck 2 midship. :cool1:

Thanks for the info. What I love about the DISboard is everyone's willingness to share info like this. Val

Let's hope for something a bit different to be announced soon.

I think we will be looking at other cruise lines for some different ports and experiences. I believe there are other cruise lines out there;)

They did say the Fantasy would take over the Carribean ports, so at least there is a possibility of a longer cruise. I have no desire to go on either of the new ships for 3-5 nights! So many new things to explore and literally no time...hopefully the Fantasy will offer 10ish day cruises =0)
Val, you really are a stud!! Thanks so much for checking on this...I'm so tempted to change my plans. I hate it when my desire for adventure conflicts with with my desire to learn about an area (I'm the kind of person that if given the option of bungee jumping off St. Peters Basilica or visiting the Sistine Chapel, you probably would have found me bouncing from a bungee! Luckily that wasn't an option as I'm so glad I visited all the amazing places in Rome)! Should I zip through the rainforest or do the tour with you all? Hmmm...decisions, decisions!

Beagles are naughty little dogs. I swear they can't help it, it's their nose. I can open something in the kitchen and my beagle will come darting from the farthest room. My lab just ambles in after her looking at her like she's nuts (well she is, but that's besides the point).
Lynne, do yours do crazy dog? Jeff about died the first time our old beagle did it. Essentially they just run at full speed in circles for no apparent reason. Copper was known to run up the stairs and back down over and over again. Normally it was a chore to get him up the stairs. I've never known a dog to just take off in no apparent direction for no apparent reason for 10 -15 minutes just because they can. But beagles do. When the beagles do "crazy dog" my lab looks at them and hides.

There was one at the dog park who would chase the whippet (that in itself was worth the price of admission) and he would make the most horrible sound I have ever heard come out of any animal. You'd think someone was killing it, but no, he was just upset that he couldn't catch the whippet (and seriously, who CAN catch one when they are moving at full speed?).

I hope you decide to join us. I truly think this will be a great tour. And, Alvaro is really receptive to any changes we want. So if you have any questions or recommendations let us know and I'll ask. val

My daughters dog was "in the dog house" for quite awhile due to chewing. She ate her MAC makeup containers and all, checks (they were salvageable), shoes, clothes, and $400 cash. It was the cash that really upset her. Told her to stop leaving stuff on the bed!! Dog went to obediance school and is now a happy family member

Our doberman whatever crawled through the hole in the fence mutt ate the drywall off the corners of the wall, tore up the carpet by starting in a corner, and ate window sills when he was a puppy. Now he just has separation anxiety and has "accidents" when he is left alone (even though we have another dog). He is supposed to be on psych meds, ,but it upsets him so much to take them we just don't give them to him.

We actually trained our two dogs from the time we got them to stay out of the kitchen and they actually do. They'll lay down right at the edge of the kitchen and let their paws go in but thats it. Funny thing is we did the same with our two kids!:rotfl::rotfl:

Has anyone watched the show "My dog ate what"? It's amazing what they eat and that they have survived!

We came home from vacation one time and our little guy (beagle / lab mix) Toby was running loose in our fenced in back yard. Now this didn't cause too much concern because he's somewhat of a Houdini but the harness he had been wearing was missing. I couldn't find it anywhere in the yard. Took him to the vet to be sure and told him I thought Toby may have eaten his harness. The vet said with no bleeding and normal appetite, that he definately had not eaten it. I beg to differ...Toby offered up the proof the next day when he vomited a partially digested harness.:sick:

Ok lets set the backdrop:
We have four dogs ... yap I know four:
Cora maltese
Comfy maltese
Cody mini- daushound
Corky white lab
We load up and head to Texas for a week n half.
I walk into the house and see a a white lab in our back yard. Hubby walks in and I say ... WOW you got the dogs into the back yard fast! He says what are you talking about they are still in the suburban with the kids .... WHAT? Well Mr. Hubby Corky got into the back yard see .....
Yap, it wasn't our dog. It had a tag on that said CoCo (now this is our DDs name) ... apparently the night we left there was a bad storm and CoCo jumped the fence.
Our neighbor assumed it was our dog because it was named CoCo, so they put it in our back yard. It had been back there with no food and just pool water to drink..... Our pool guy thought it was odd that we left one of our dogs in the back yard, as we never do but it was named CoCo so he also assumed it was ours ...
Two days later CoCo went home. They brought a picture of her and boy she lost massive weight in our yard! The poor dear!
Our neighbors said she never barked so they assumed she had food. A bit suprised we left a pup at home but .. OK ...

So I have learned having all my kids and dogs names starting with a "Co" is not a good thing ... LOL

Our Lab is trained to run to her "mat" when the door bell goes of or if we tell her to. Man I wish the other dogs and kids would catch on! I tell you the little dogs just never learn the "good" tricks!
