What is the wipe board thing mentioned?

I was going to ask the same questions about fe and sm. I sent a pm to i think it was tigfanjeff? i knew at the time. it's been more than a week but my info doesnt appear. i assume it will and then we'll get included or do we have to send someone else the info that we want to.
and speaking of which, what's the diff between fe and sm?

thanks!

I'm new to DCL, but its my understanding that FE is a small bag of gifts for the stateroom of everyone who participates in the FE. So if we have 100 people participating you would need 100 FE gifts and would get 100 FE gifts in return. The wipe board was a group that got together and pooled their money and are getting wipe boards to give as their FE gifts. A more expensive gift, hence the getting together and giving as a group. The Secret Mickey SM is a one on one. You tell the coordinator you are interested, she sends you a list of questions to answer and she matches you up. It can be a family to family or individual to individual or couple to couple. The sum of the little gifts you give you SM should total $25.

Now if I got any of this wrong, I am sure someone will correct me. I think it all sounds like fun so I'm in for everything![/QUOTE]

That about sums it up! For the FE, you should have atleast one item for each cabin participating.. you can do more if you like and depending on what you are giving. On our last PC cruise..I gave out 6 different things - never again! :lmao: It took me forever but I had matched things up to our different ports. This time, I have about 3 items for each cabin. It can be anything you want - some people make things - some give candy, temp. tatoos, Disney pens, etc. Have fun with it!

As for SM, you should have a few different small gifts to leave for your SM (and one will be assigned to you as well). Your final gift should be a little nicer and identify yourself. We will have a reveal get together (I am contacting Disney to try and set up a time in one of the lounges. This will be on the last sea day hopefully. Your total cost for the SM should be between $25-$30. Some people go over a little but you should spend atleast $25 total on your SM. (watch to see if your SM has a special occasion - those are always fun to pick out something for!) I found that if you go when your SM's room steward is cleaning the cabin or turndown, they are more then happy to put it in the cabin for you. I did not like leaving it in thier Fish Extender for fear someone would walk away with it. If you are interested in doing the SM - just PM me and I will send you the link. You can do it as a cabin, a couple or individual. You can even have the adults do one and the kids do another (I know this is twice the expense but the kids love getting them too)

As for t-shirts - I don't think anyone has stepped up for planning that. I think the lanyards and the wipe boards - someone was planning a group for giving those out as FE gifts (I may be incorrect on this).

We are planning on meeting for dinner the night before as a meet & greet. I would be happy to put this one together if no one else wants it. I think we were talking about meeting for dinner in DTD. Any thoughts on where would be good?

Talk about an embaressment of riches, I think i'm getting a second room mate. If I do get the second one, would any of the lone ladies like to have one of them? Cousin Iola would really prefer to be in a balcony cabin, which is what she had before her previous room mate cancelled on her. I feel like a matchmaker :)

Woo Hoo! You have had some pixie dust! :woohoo:

I would love to do a Dinner get together but I think I will pass because the friends that we are traveling with have never been to WDW and we will only have the one full day to see all the parks. Side note. We open for reservations on 6/15 up to 1/7. I think I last posted 6/10 so just wanted to get the word out.

I would love to do the pre-dinner meet as well, but our plane arrives at 8 pm. We're staying at the Hyatt if anyone wants to get together after 8. A libation maybe...one of those lemon drops, yummy

lookin' for something else in the forum and saw this. have to ask - did ohanas go back to their old menu or bring any of the stuff back? We (different people over 2 years, but one trip each year) have been underwhelmed compared to where it was, due to the menu changes. love yahtsman!

Tigfanjeff are you out there??
i've tried 2 times to send him a pm with our info to put up and no where does it show in my pm folders taht one was sent. what am i doing wrong?? thanks!:confused3

Jeff is behind on the website as I've posted over the last few weeks. He works full time as a geek and part time as a monorail pilot and baseball umpire. And a Dad. And I try to get some time with him as well. So the website it done in what little free time we have purely out of fun, so things do take a bit to get up. He is aware of multiple PMs in his box and will get to them (maybe tomorrow). Again he thanks everyone for their patience and asks that people remain patient with him. He's one geek with not a heck of a lot of time.

Hope everyone enjoys tomorrow.....HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!!

And, thank you to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our great country! And to those family members and friends who still miss them. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know when the DCL website will have the shore excursions listed? Happy Memorial Day!

They are not yet sure..what you might try is checking other crusie line excursions..although I can not gty that they will be identical..since those are the excursion companies in the area - they are usually pretty close.

Jeff is doing a GREAT job! Let's cut him some slack and not multiply PM in our impatience, ok?:thumbsup2 ( Believe me, I KNOW how hard that is - doesn't EVERYBODY check their email 4 times a day?? :rotfl2:

Agreed!! If you note, my main concern wasn't that he didn't post (that was noted but not complained about) but that what am i doing wrong that i see no sign of my pm having gotten sent. I am going to wait a week or two and then check again. I know this is all volunteer and think it's great that people are willing to do the organize FE and sm and all that. Thank you all!

Amen to that!! May we all take a moment to remember those who have fought (and those who are still fighting) for us so that we don't have to! :worship:
Let freedom ring--Happy Memorial Day everyone:flower3:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know this is going to sound crazy, but the only time I am going to have to plan for this cruise is in the next couple of months. Once September rolls around my life gets crazy beyond control (Seriously--major crazy)!!
I wanted to know if there is something I can do to help out with FE or SM or student work during the next few months? Someone mentioned T-shirts--How is that normally handled? Do we need someone to take on that project? What about other FE "big gifts" do we need to discuss groups to go in together for those? I have an idea for an FE gift, but I would be happy to do something with a group as well :)
For those of you who have done this before, what do you think? I know we cannot order until FP, but could we start planning so that I know how to budget my time? I want to make sure I can contribute with anything you need, which means I literally have to schedule it in now.
RE dinner the night before: I don't know if we will be able to make it. I would like to take my parents to Epcot the day before, so unless we meet near there, we will probably have to bow out (I will let you know if Epcot falls through though). I am still trying to get the rest of our group (6 more) to sign up with this group, but they are dragging their feet...
Did they have couples spa specials on previous pc cruises? DH and I would both like to do the rainforest room and maybe massages. I know on our last carnival cruise they had lots of specials for couples. Also who do we contact for joining the fe? I don't get on here as much as I would like so kinda get behind on everything. What are some other plans for this cruise? Any plans for a greet and meet or ordering t-shirts? Hope all is well. WE booked a quick trip to wdw for aug. We just can't wait till Jan. Look forward to meeting everyone!
Sorry for the multiple posts, but I don't know how to do it all in one:confused3
I have never been on the PC cruise, but I do have the "specials" paper from our 7-day cruise in Oct. There were a couple of specials listed only at the spa (which is where I think I saw the 3-day Rainforest special) that I don't have, but I have the rest. I would be happy to scan it and send it to you if you want to PM your email address (or I can put it on here if more people want it). They did have a couple of specials that included a massage and an all day pass to the rainforest, but there was nothing specific to couples. I'm sure they will have more for the PC cruise, but having never been, I really don't know.
Okay, I've stalled long enough--time to paint my laundry room and install my new washer and dryer...man, this living alone thing makes one really handy:lmao:
As for FE, you can start now working on gifts if you want, just realizing the final numbers maybe very different. Jeff and I can set up the t-shirts on cafe press or zazzle, it's very easy to do. By doing it there, anyone can order whatever they want whenever. Jeff has all of the images that people submitted for the thread. He'll try to get them up this week. As of right now (knock on wood) he only has one umpiring game this week, so he should be home most nights this week to work on the cruise stuff.
I think people might have missed it, but Jeff and I are going to do the door magnets for the FE. We like doing them and it's something that we can work on over time. (Plus delivering them is fun, walk through the entire ship and slap 'em on doors).
Finally, as someone who did wear a uniform of the US military for 4 years, I thank you all for your thoughts and rememberence of those who have fought and paid the ultimate price for the freedome we enjoy here in the US. While you know when you sign your name on the dotted line the potential consequences of joining, you never think it will happen to you. Or your friends. But you are willing in order to maintain the freedom we have.
Under each post- next to the quote button..there is another button with quote marks. If you click that, you can continue reading. Each post you want to respond to, just click the button. It is a multiple quote button and will allow all of the posts in one response.
To respond to your question about starting planning. As responded, you can start now on the FE gifts if you like. They do not all have to be the same if you do not want them to be. As for the SM - thank you for the offer but at this time, all we can do is wait for final payment and then I can send out who you have as a SM.
I had a place for the 2008 PC cruise that did our lanyards very inexpensively. If anyone wants to go in on lanyards - let me know and we can do it as a group FE gift if you like. I will check on the company and see what thier prices are now.
Since we are on talks of planning too...I do not know if anyone is interested or not but we had 2 events I thought were fun in 2008 - we did a PJ breakfast. We met in our PJs and simply went to breakfast - we also took a group photo in the atrium. I will see if I can find the picture.
The other - we held a small Girl Scout get-together where the girls exchanged patches from thier area. They could be Council patches or anything that were kind of area specific. I also had special patches made for the cruise - and am thinking of doing it again - if you have a Scout (boy or girl)- could you send me a PM so I can check out the pricing to see if I can do it again?
Here is the patch I had made for the 2008 cruise.
I have never done the FE before and just want to make sure I understand correctly.
If 100 staterooms sign up for FE, then you need 100 gifts, right? Do gifts have to be given on a schedule-or whenever you want? I have so many ideas for FE gifts but I am really going to have to reign it back a little. I don't want to have to pack extra suitcases just to bring FE gifts. :rotfl:
Jenn,
You are so right once again. I remember when my best friend went to the Marines right out of High School. Man I was so happy he just had to do the one weekend a month thing for a few years. He never got sent anywere. I am very thankfull for all if our hard working service personel, not only military but on the civilian end as well. I am happy today that at work I get to call them out and preboard them and their familes. I know it is not much but as a company it is the least we can do on this day to honor our service men and women. Oh they get free drinks on the plane too. Again thank you to all who are, or have served. You have more guts than I.
I really think if there are going to be that many or more cabins signing up for FE then the list should be broken down into smaller groups or some other method to cut the weight/space issues, and also the costs.
Correct...you would need 100 "gifts" There is no schedule - you do them when you want.
