Memom, I couldn't sleep so I thought I would check in here at the DIS. I haven't had much time lately with Nutcracker rehearsals and getting ready for our trip. I'm sorry you are having such a rough week. You must be one tough lady, because you know what they say: "that which doesn't kill us, makes us stronger"! ;) Hopefully next week you can look back on this one and feel a sense of accomplishment (not to mention relief!). Thank goodness there are teachers like you out there molding the citizens of tomorrow.

I hope your week gets better. If I could get you Calgon I would.

I really hope it gets better. After hearing about today it knd of has to right?
It has got to work better that just wishing he would be absent. 'Cause you know that child will have perfect attendance.

I hope that between talking with his dad and him getting over his initial first day fears, today will be better. :)

Wow, what a rough week. I know how it is to have difficult students. My MIL is a 6th grade teacher and she had a class full last year. She was so thankful for summer to come!! I hope everything gets better. Lots of prayers and hugs your way Happy belated birthday to Drew!!

I would love to be part of a Nashville zoo meet! Sign me up whenever you do one. It is not far from Knoxville at all.

I did have a class once that went about ten deep on kids with severe issues. That was a very trying year. I told the people in the office that if they were trying to get rid of me, they could just ask nicely and I would go quietly. ;) Torturing someone to death is not cool. :upsidedow They assured me they were not trying to run me off, but they knew I would not run out the back door screaming if I had those kids.

We will let you know about a zoo meet. Sounds great to us!

Keep reminding me of that, as I remind myself. Sometimes I have to hold my tongue when I want to say 'DUH!' or have some kind of comeback to a smart-aleck kid. It's best to just ignore them at that time and remember that I am not only modeling to that kid, but to the others that are watching. If we want them to learn to respect authority, they authority has to be fair and just and calm no matter how nuts a kid gets.

After we left the haunted hotel, we went over to the Animation Courtyard to look for a present for Wigd, since it was her birthday.

This is what we saw.

Jill and I agreed on the item we wanted. Wigd can share, if she chooses to.

Back through the toy store - can't recall the name right now, but the one right across from the bathrooms - where I took a picture for Caleb, who I had heard was fond of this guy.

Back on the bus.

Where to now?

I'm out of pictures. :upsidedow

Loved your pictures from the Nashville Zoo! :thumbsup2 That playground looks really cool.

Brooklynn is a much braver girl than me to go on ToT! :scared1:

Oh goodness, I hope that new student shapes up and doesn't make your week (and the rest of the school year) too difficult.

The Alice shirt is so pretty, at first glance you couldn't even tell it's a Disney shirt.

:scared1: Hope things go better for you in the classroom! By the way, how's it looking for Halloween? I'm sure you have all kinds of neat decorations up.

Hi MeMom and Jill! MeMm, I hope your week ends quickly so you can have some down time!

Here's good wishes for a good day!

Phew all caught up now.

I LOVE that tin that Jill bought for you. So cute!! I know you appreciate her as your daughter and she appreciates you for the wonderful Mom that you are. What a nice story. I love the tin with all the characters & rides.

Love all your pics & the Tennessee Zoo pics are great:thumbsup2 It does remind me of AK!!

Happy Birthday to Drew. Glad you got to spend some time with him & also with Jarvis. So glad to hear his mom is doing better.

I know what you mean about air fare!! I just purchased our tickets for May (coming home Memorial weekend) and the prices were high!! I don't like going during the holiday but it is the only week we can go as my oldest DS is graduating from college on May 21st so we leave the 22nd. I will keep looking at the prices though & if they go down they (Jet Blue) will give me credit to use the next year.

Sorry you are having issues with your new student. Hopefully things will get better!!

The kids love that playground. I'll have to take pictures inside it sometime.

What - no ToT for you??? Come on, you can do it!

It's been a little better today. A little. ;)

We have a small number of kids here who are not allowed to 'celebrate' or acknowledge Halloween, so I have actually downplayed my decorations in the past few years as that number has risen. I will be putting my Disney Halloween decorations in for the faculty lunch tomorrow, though. :goodvibes

I love that Alice shirt! Very pretty. I hope you have a better day at school.

He did go out for some testing today, so that helped. I feel bad for him in spite of his disruptive behavior. He probably has a whole lot of needs that are not being met in his life.

Hi MeMom and Jill! MeMm, I hope your week ends quickly so you can have some down time!

Here's good wishes for a good day!

I will be happy for Friday night, no doubt.

I was feeling a little Animal Kingdomish, too. :thumbsup2 I have two weeks to decide if I want to upgrade to a yearly pass. I keep meaning to ask Jill when hers expires, and then I'll decide either to do it or just wait until/if she renews.

Gotta run pick up the kids. It was a short thrity minutes.

I didn't even think about that! Is it the same for Christmas too?

I'm sorry I haven't been around. I got behind at the beginning of October and I haven't caught up yet.

I'm several updates behind going all the way back to you July 5th day.

I really enjoyed the photos of the mouthwatering sweets. I also enjoyed shopping at DTD with y'all. You take the most interesting pictures. Loved the potato head parts. We didn't buy any this last trip so I need to make up for that.

DHS- I can't belive it NO BO! I hope he has returned. Love the Streetmosphere. I could sit and watch them all day.

Sorry I missed your send off, but it looks like you had a great trip even if it was short.

Tower of Terror is my very favorite thrill ride at Disney. Sorry the screams bothered Brooklyn.

I'm also happy to hear your kitty is better. Tell Drew a belated Happy Birthday. Great news that Jarvis' mother is doing better. My sympathies for your hard week. Hopefully all will be better next week.

Whew I think I'm all caught up now!

Oh my goodness!!! What a week you have had so far, MeMom!!! It always seems to come in big clumps of craziness, doesn't it? I hope your new student calms down after awhile!

I do hope Wigd shares what you gave her for her birthday! :goodvibes

Catching up here! Sorry about your rough week...I don't know how you do it :sad2:

Two things. I just bought a disney coloring book and the images in it are the same ones on your lovely tin Jill got you....how cool is that?! I am turning some of the pictures into appliques for a few dresses for our next trip!

Second, I love the pic of Trent and Tonya on the bus with Bella. I just love how much they love the girls. He is going to make such a great father someday!!!:thumbsup2

Well, its almost Thursday of a fun weekend...enjoy! :yay:

I didn't even think about that! Is it the same for Christmas too?

People seem to be more accepting of Christmas, but we do have quite a few families who are opposed to Halloween. They say it's worshipping Satan. I don't get into all the deep dark past of Halloween. I just have fun with the light-hearted fun things. If the kids know they are not supposed to be doing a worksheet with a happy little witch or something, then I just assign them another page out of a textbook. Some of them are truly, adamantly opposed to doing anything so much as a worksheet where the Math problems are written inside little ghost shapes. Although I respect their wishes at all times, my feeling is that they are making more of an issue of it by being so, so 'dark' about it all, but all beliefs and cultures need to be respected for what they are, so I just give those kids a different assignment.

The only things I put in my room this year were the Mickey pumpkin bucket full of peppermints and a little Mickey Halloween figurine. We're decorating for the teacher lunch (tomorrow) tonight after the Math Night, and I'll put those things in there. It won't be as cool as Anita's Disney meal that she just did, but I'll represent us DISers just a little. ;)

The next time we'll get to check on Bo will be spring, or almost spring. We'll have to see everyone else's updates and who dresses him up for holidays and other things between now and then. :goodvibes

We're still on July 5th. July 5th must have been a very long day!

She did.
Even with all her packing chores, she had time to re-live her birthday. :)

You're gonna have a fun weekend? That's good. I'm sure the girls are looking forward to Halloween fun. I've got to find out whether our city is doing Halloween on Saturday or on Sunday.

Glad today was a little better! One day closer to friday!

This is the looooong one. Once it starts, it's going to be a long time until it ends. :)

Well, this is what they agreed on and I was thrilled!

Who knew we'd be telling you Happy Birthday again at the end of October?
By the time we get to your birthday evening, you'll be back in Disney World, and you'll miss out on the pictures. :upsidedow
Oh well, you'll be having way much more fun down there than you would here! :yay:

********************************

'Bout to start a long day. School, then two hours of tutoring, then Family Math Night, then decorating the lounge for tomorrow's lunch. Started my potato soup last night (potatoes, onions, bacon, and a little teeny tiny bit of celery) and will finish it tonight (broccoli and cheese). It's better when it sits for a day, anyway. It will be hard to choose from the soups that are coming tomorrow - chicken tortilla, chili, potato, and vegetable beef. We need divided bowls with four little sections. ;)

I thought about driving down to AL this weekend to see my sweet girls as Pocahontas and Meeko, but they've got activities all weekend. I hope Jill plans to take lots of pictures, and maybe they'll dress up for me another weekend soon.

Have a good day, friends!

As a child, my mother did not let me dress up for Halloween and go out to trick or treat. However, she did buy me candy and we usually had Arby's and a dozen donuts. I don't recall her (or myself) making a big fuss out of worksheets decorated with various Halloween shapes.

So to this day, I haven't officially dressed up for Halloween. Although, one year at Pop, I dressed as a Hippie and helped pass out candy at the Hippy Dippy Pool.

Very nice surprise for Wigd.

The potato soup sounds delicious! Is it your personal recipe?
