I have a 7pm dining reservation at the Wilderness Lodge. We will be staying at the Poly. Can we take the monorail to the Contemporary and the boat from Contemp to Wilderness? How late to the boats run?

Thanks

Yes. You can also take the monorail or boat from Poly to MK, and then the boat or bus to WL.

Boats between CR & WL run until about 11pm.

Boats between MK & WL run until 1.5 hours after MK closes.

Thanks! I wasnt sure if when we left we would be able to get transportation back. (Wasnt even sure if they still had the boats!) If its a nice night, we will go via boat.

I just wish that Disney had more sidewalks. The fast way other than driving your own car would be walking between these resorts. Unfortunately walking really isn't a good option.

By minimizing ability to walk definitely keeps it safer and less potential for pedestrian accidents.

I agree, and the ones that there are generally are poorly signed and not publicized.

You can also use the corollary of that argument and say that if Disney was planned better and eliminated the need for driving there would be less accidents of all kinds. We rent a car at Disneyland but only use it to get to/from the airport. At Disneyworld we used the car all the time because you can't walk easily between attractions.

I think Disney planned it well, as they wanted it. If they wanted people to walk they would have designed it as such. Realistically with the 43 sq miles, monorails, boats and bus service I would say they have done a pretty good job with managing in the neighborhood of 50 million visits to the 4 parks each year (does not mean 50 million people). While walking might help in a few instances, and car travel for some can be more convenient, Disney has made it very doable to not have a car. From airport to hotel to park and back home we have done many a trip without a car. Even when we drive instead of flying I tend not use a car. Not saying you can't make an argument that car might be easier in some cases but the opposite can be true as well. If we are staying at Boardwalk we can walk or boat to two parks. At Contemporary walk to park, monorail to EPCOT and boat to FT Wilderness or Wilderness Lodge. Who knows if they had ever completed the original plan of 4 hotels on the monorail maybe there would have been a walking path.

If you REALLY want to walk, it's possible. It's not publicized and I wouldn't do it.

No sidewalks but you could walk from the Poly to the TTC, Through the Mouse House, out the back road called Topiary Ln, cross World Drive (the 2 lane part) at the end of Topiary Ln onto W. Wilderness Rd.

Again, It's not a route I would recommend as you are technically back stage on W. Wilderness Rd.

Take the boat from MK, it's a much better option.

Agreed walking is a poor option because they didn't build proper sidewalks. If they did it would be very safe and far faster than taking the slow boats. Last time I took the boat from Wilderness Lodge it took me 38 minutes from my room to get to the front gate at Magic Kingdom. At Disneyland I can stay at an offsite hotel and it takes me 11 minutes to walk from Candy Cane Inn to the front gate at Disneyland.

DLR is a bit different than WDW. You are comparing Apples to Oranges. All of DLR and the close off site hotels fit inside the MK parking lot.
