French Man using live dogs as shark bait?!

That fish is on par to a cow/pig/chicken in my eyes. I certainly wouldn't want to torture any of them, but I guess that you're suggesting we all become vegetarians and kill none of them, Chad? PETA would appreciate your donation, and maybe put dogs/cats to sleep with some of it.

No :confused3

The sad thing is that animals are often killed for sport even when they're intended for food. Fishing is a sport as well as a means of getting food, right? Unfortunately, most animals that wind up on your dinner plate are tortured needlessly in some way. For example, factory farming of chickens with its cramped cages and beak slicing, kosher butchering and some twisted employees contribute to that.

I do believe most people would never dream of torturing or hurting any animal in any way, even one used for food.

At least they're dogs. Of course, if you posted a picture of an aborted baby, a lot of people would say "Well, it IS the mother's choice..." Amazing how some can hate it when it happens to dogs, but it's OK if it happens to an unborn child. Now that's sad.

we've jumped to fishing with fetuses now? :confused3

How the hell did this segue into an abortion thread??? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

OH MY GOODNESS!
That makes me sick. That poor dog. :sad1:

Is this even real? The link looks like a tabloid and not an official news source.

It is a British paper. Honestly I had posted this thinking maybe someone would do a snopes on me and say it is false, but it appears to be real and true and disgustingly sad.

That was my first thought too. (my hope actually) Is there any other news source for it?

The Sun is a British tabloid. They might exagerate a story but I don't think they are the "Aliens ate George Bush and replaced him with Rat Boy" type paper. Any UK'ers out there that can verify?

This happens all over the place the indians on Walpole Island use kittens as Musky bait in the St Clair river off Michigan and Ontario. The river is one of the best Musky producing areas around and it is fairly common to see this many anglers do this in those waters in teh St Clair both from Canada and the US. I am not saying it makes it right but it is still being done they just have not been caught doing it yet I guess well by the authorities anyhow.

There was an article on Yahoo about Brigitte Bardot getting involved in stopping this practice. She has an animal rights group and gets into these things.

Now I'm really sorry I ever started to read this thread! I can't believe stuff like this goes on. Sickening!

right on N. Bailey.

I hate it when I hear when CHILDREN are killed for sport though.

You are a troll, there is no other explanation.

What is musky, and why would kittens be used for bait? I mean, I guess it's one way to reduce stray populations, but it's still damn nasty. There's no other way to catch a fish?

Please tell me that comment didn't come out the way you intended.

I thought you used Chum to get sharks in? because they could smell the blood. Doesn't seem like this would work, very well. Because the dog wouldn't bleed like the chum, and it would be harder to smell the dog. thats from the fishing point of view.

its horrible. There is a special kind of death for someone that does something like that.
