freezing meat question

Good to know but I very often don't use it within two days of bringing it home. I know we could go back and forth all day about what practices are "officially" safe and which ones get done routinely without incident. Or maybe I'm the only DIS'er that doesn't cook hamburger instantaneously? ;) Sort of like how nobody else but me carries a credit card balance? :lmao:
Yeah, I don’t mess around with ground beef or raw chicken. If I’m not going to cook it either the day I buy it or the next day at the latest it automatically goes in the freezer. Sorry, but our credit cards gets paid off every month. I refuse to pay finance charges.

Some people are rule followers and some people are risk takers, so, yes, I think its quite possible that many people who pay off their credit cards each month also follow food safety protocols. It's true for me too.

According to the USDA you can refreeze thawed meat as long as it was thawed in the fridge and not out on the counter. It may look a bit different once re-thawed but it should be OK
