Freezing February 2012! Trip report.

Well our trip wouldn't have been complete would it without another breakdown! :rotfl:
We had decided to get up and get straight on our way home, so we were going to stop off somewhere for breakfast, we checked out and loaded up the car, got DVD players set up for boys and were ready but......car wouldn't start! Flipping great, it was also snowing thick and fast too! So got boys out and went back into hotel to get postcode and I rang the AA. Said be there in an hour so we went and had a slow breakfast at the Table Table. AA finally came out just before 11am and car started after several attempts! So we jumped back in and were off finally. We arrived home just after 4pm as we stopped for some lunch and a couple of toilet stops too. We did say next time we think we might try flying! As airport is 20 mins from us but decided with the transfer from CDG and back it wasn't much difference to Eurostar. Least that way we won't have a broken down train and car!
Home finally so I sorted out all the washing and crancked up the washer I got the laptop out as I wanted to email Eurostar about the dissapointment of breaking down. I found an email from them sent on the day we broke down offereing us a choice of 2 compensations, either a return trip for all passengers, a year to use it, or a partial refund, which would have been about £90. Well no guessing which we will go for! So now all we need is another flash sale and hopefully we can match the dates together! Oh and it will be a summer trip we hope, no hats and gloves or thermals!! :yay:

If you made it this far, thanks for reading, I have enjoyed putting it all down on here, didn't realise how long it would take me though!! Plus sorry I couldn't work out the pictures to show straight away and not just a link, maybe I will have mastered that for next time! :rotfl:

oh no! Can't believe you broke down! :scared1: At least you were still at the hotel so could wait in the warm!

Really nice to see you do get a practically full day in the parks on your last day as well! :cool1:

It's great to see that Eurostar offer decent compensation - hope you get a decent Flash Sale bargain for your return trip! :goodvibes

Sounds like you all had a great time, despite the breakdowns!

We've gone Eurostar and never had any problems, so I think you were just unlucky - however, great bonus getting a return trip :thumbsup2

I'm reading this with my ds and he wants to go on Autopia next time we go - we've never made it yet as queues always so massive - it looked freezing though :rotfl:

Thanks for posting - glad you got your upgrade, I bet it was a real blessing in all that cold :)

A great trip report. What bad luck with the car after your troubles on the journey there. Have you considered driving all the way? :goodvibes

Funnily enough we did drive on our first trip, had only got 5 junctions down the M1 when we had to call AA, got towed back home and had to borrow my dads car to get us there. So we swore never to drive all the way again! :rotfl:

We did have a great time and the upgrade was worth every penny but has rather spoilt us for future visits! :)

Third time we have used Eurostar so yes we were just unlucky or lucky if you look in the sense of the free trip!

My boys love Autopia always have to do it and yes this time it was freezing!

Yes we seem to have a thing for breaking down on long trips, only time our AA cover gets used!

We had a busy last day in the parks, seemed to be non stop! Am keeping fingers crossed for a flash sale so I can get us booked again. :yay:

Great report! Really enjoyed reading it x

Wonderful trip report, sounded like you all had lots of fun. The free return trip on the Eurostar sure makes up for the breakdown :thumbsup2
