Freedom to Marry Day Protest Planned

Oh, yeah and that reminds me. We want the rainbow back too-it's not fair that you gay folks stole it from us. WAHH, WAHH!!!!

:rotfl2:

Heck NO! We keep the rainbow, Liza, Bette, Bette, Judy, and the word "gay". But in an act of peace, we shall return Tinkie Winkie and Haggard. My people think they're both creepy anyway.

Deal. You mind if I fab it up a bit and throw in gold llame boots, a kicky utility belt and a feather boa?

Hey Rick, which one are you?

I really want to understand this post. Can you clarify a little more?

You said that ancient civilizations were portayed as ugly and uncivilized until they adopted religion. It was religion that allowed the populace to be civilized.

I argued that that may not be true as the prople who say they were ungly and uncivilized were those who were from a religious society and had an agenda to say that a society without religion was uncivilzed and that religion had a civilizing influence.

You get Barney too-he's purple and he sings a gay sounding song.

"My people" think Tinkie Winkie and Haggard are creepy too. Is there some other group we can foist them off on?

Wow, 26 pages, I didn;t have time to post yesterday!

I think government should get out of the marriage business altogether, personally. Marriage ceremonies could then be nothing more than religious/social events and anyone could do it.

If consenting individuals wish to legally address property, visitation, inheritance, etc.. rights then they could do so in the form of private contracts.

Lawyers everywhere should love that plan. ;)

The goverment has absolutely no business dictating who, when, where and why we join together.

This is a bit OT, but last night I was perusing the Southern Poverty Law Center website and noted that they have officially classified Lou Sheldon's virulently anti-gay Traditional Values Coaltion as a hate group. I was very pleased to see that. Traditional Values Coalition now joins the ranks of the KKK, Aryan Nation, Nation of Islam, and other despicable organizations as a hate group.

Is that the group that protests at the military funerals? Or is that some other group that needs to be on that list?

That would be the Westboro Baptist Church headed by the nasty Fred Phelps, who I think is hidden deep in the closet;)

I very much doubt that religion is the reason to bake bread I wouold have thought it was hunger, and we only have the speculation that what you said may be the case. I did previously say it was a chicken and egg situation as to what came first the practical need for the rules which spread into religion or vice versa.
Religion wasn't the reason FOR baking bread. Religion was behind everything, though. God gave you the wheat, gave you the knowledge and the technology, etc. You had god to thank for everything. But yes, it's hard to know what came first--the idea of god or the idea of rules.

The monarch being head of state and religion was our break from Rome (although under the guise of Hernry wanting any woman he could get.) An it was us and a few other old countries going through such upheavals allowed the US to get set up without it. It was largly a development of society and government issue which the US avoided as they had foundations to build on.
Well, the US was partly founded by people trying to get away from religious persecution back in the "old country" who wanted to practice their brand of Christianity without malice, with their own rules. Some were opportunists who wanted some nice plantations. Much of the really horrible stuff was quite a bit before the Revolution and the US Constitution, but bad blood in Europe showed the Founding Fathers a good example of what not to do when creating a new government. They looked far through history for examples of what to do and what not to do.

It certainly made sense in the 18th century to avoid creating a theocracy, didn't it? Not to mention that around post-Revolutionary time in the colonies there was lots of distaste for monarchs in general. They just didn't want to get into it all over again in a new government. Even something so simple as what to call our leader was a debate during the framing of the Constitution; some thought "president" sounded too ordinary (you could be president of a club, for example), but most wanted to avoid making the leader sound like a king.

Exactly so, in miliary terms history is written by the winners

Yup. Lots of Americans don't realize exactly why we won the Revolution. England could have destroyed us if it weren't for the fact that the military was occupied elsewhere (thanks to France).

You have heard that the fabulous Rev. Ted, after 3 weeks, count 'em, 3 weeks of intensive counseling at an undisclosed Arizona treatment center has made the good Rev.Ted sure on one thing: "He is completely heterosexual."

Btw, the Catholic Church also sent their "problem children" to Arizona, but I digress.

Haggard says he is "completely heterosexual

"He is completely heterosexual," Ralph said. "That is something he discovered. It was the acting- out situations where things took place. It wasn't a constant thing."

Wouldn't you have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that party, but again, I digress.

The article goes on to say:

In the message, Haggard revealed that he and his wife, Gayle, intend to leave Colorado Springs and pursue master's degrees through online courses.

Haggard mentioned Missouri and Iowa as possible destinations.

"This is a good place for Ted," Ware said. "It's hard to heal in Colorado Springs right now. It's like an open wound. He needs to get somewhere he can get the wound healed."

I bet Colorado Springs is a hard place to heal. In the fabulous Rev. Ted's current situation, it's also a pretty difficult to round up enough tithing local suckers to keep you in the lifestyle you've become accustomed to.

Look out heartland America, Rev. Ted's on his way.

I just looked him up on the SPLC website-they're watching him too. Even Jerry Falwell called him "a loon" You know you've got to be in a pretty scary place if Falwell thinks you're a loon.

Ok, I read this and though you said that history is written by the wieners.

Well BuckNaked read that my DH and I were married by a JP who raises "prize winning noodles". :lmao:
