Freebie Thread for the week of 1/8/07

I too signed up.. Yo don't think there were any viruses or trijan horses?:sad2:

I JUST DID A SCAN AND IT REMOVED 3 DONT KNOW HOW LONG THEY WERE THERE I WOULD DO A SCAN!:surfweb:

MY DUMB BUTT FILLED OUT THE SWIFFER FORM:mad:

I WATCHED A HEALTH ALERT ON THE 12:00 NEWS
CORTI SLIM IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU. IT DIDNT GET PASSED BY THE FDA:confused3

Argg....me too, well, I am good company  . If he wants to send me some spam, I will delete it, if he sends me snail mail, it will cost him good money to send it to the states. Other than that, I am updating all of my virus/spywear stuff and running a full scan as I type and also checking for any little "nasty" spywear too, just in case - - better be safe than sorry.

If you signed up for the swiffer offer like I did you may have gotten the worm w32.netsky.p@mm!enc like I did. I found the info on how to fix it at the Norton site and did what it said plus I cleaned out my emails, cookies, and internet files. I still keep getting virus alerts popping up about every 5 minutes in new folders each time when I get on the internet. I am now going to have to pay someone to fix my computer. Good luck anyone who signed up for it and sorry to be the bearer of bad news. If anyone else has any suggestions on how to fix the problem besides what norton suggests please let me know.

Thanks,
Angela

hmmmm.....my scan was fine and I have norton too, no virus and a few added spyware, but may have been from other places. Do you think you might have picked this up from someplace else? Perhaps I was just lucky and had my virus stuff updated and perhaps it blocked it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Everyone who went to the that site should make sure their virus protection has the most current update and then do a full computer scan just to make sure.

EDIT TO ADD: Went on Symantec site (Norton Security) about this worm. This worm was discovered in 2004, so very old in computer technology. Anyone interested in info regarding this worm, here is their webpage: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2004-050511-4636-99

try this:

http://www.automaticshowercleaner.com/?hs225=chj&hs227=48

This is from the SC Johnson Clean Home Journal. If you are signed up for it already - look in your email. The first 5,000 responders get a shower caddy full of cleaning supplies. But the link leaves the page once you've done it (which I did) probably to keep people like me from copying it to a place like this :lmao:

I did the swiffer too. My IT folks at work are probably chasing a virus about now. :scared:

Love all the freebies!! Keep them coming!!
madd - you cracked me up that you don't sign up for many of these. Thanks so much for the time you put into helping us out!! :cheer2:

angela

live scan with mcafee thru aol is what i have, i've not got any virus yet from the freebie world, now at work with our super duper network virus scans we've gotten worms and everything using something called blackhawk and symantec

i searched this site and didnt find anything but a print for a coupon for $5 off ... and a free caddy with the offer.

I did a scan and went on the norton site and indeed it is an old virus 2004. So I am running a scan and going to get norton's 2007 disc soon. I hope I don't have a virus!!!:scared1:

I scan twice a week and ran an extra one today - never had a worm detected. I use Norton too - and I also have WebRoot to catch spyware etc.
