We are thinking of doing the Knights & Lights sometime over the summer of 2011. Here's the thing: I might be training for a marathon, requiring me to do anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours of running a day, even while we're away. Is this do-able with an ABD trip? Will the hotel help me out finding places to run?

I haven't been on the Knights & Lights tour yet, so I can't comment about the amount of free time you have. But I'm going to hazard a guess that you might get enough time for a 1/2 hour run each day, but 2 hours is going to be unlikely on some days. I'm going to echo a suggestion Bobo912 came up with on another thread, and suggest you look at the London & Paris Gateway trip. One of the features of the "Gateway" trips is that they are designed with more "on your own" time than the "regular" trips. Check out a comparison of the 2 trips here:

As far as the hotel helping you find out where to run, I would think that is very likely. Both hotels are very fine hotels, and I can't imagine their folks not helping you. You could also ask the Adventure Guides to help you. If they don't know of places to run, I'm sure they'd work with the hotel or the local guides to find places for you.

I'll say 'ditto' to Sayhello's comments. We did the non-Gateway version of Knights & Lights a few years (trip report below) and I would agree that you can find 30 minutes each day for running, but 2 hours every day will be tough to accomodate. The Gateway version gives you lots more free-time.

As for 'where' to run, most definitely your Guides and hotel Concierge will be able to help you out. I know that on our trip there were a few runners and they found lovely routes for their morning routine.
