"Free" Parking - Anyone Ever Do This?

I’m sorry anyone that parks at a resort to “hop” to a park is just an evil person. In my book you are no different than a murderer. If I see someone in a lot without a parking pass I call the tow company directly. If a CM disagrees I report them to guest services to have them terminated. I pay big $ to park at a resort and I refuse to look for a spot. I should have the very first spot each and every time as this is what I pay for.

Getting past your "colorful" story. Many people have posted that when they stay at a resort that is close to a theme park, mostly Epcot, they have trouble finding spaces in their lot, as in driving around and around waiting for someone to leave. Think the Saturday before Xmas at the mall following someone with bags.

Magically cars start to disappear starting around 30 minutes after that said park closes.

So these people are not looking for a special spot, they are looking for any spot a spot that they know others should not be parking in.

Don't give them ideas. Isn't Steve Jobs the largest shareholder? We'd only be allowed Apple cars. :)

Seriously, there will always be people figuring ways to screw with a system. Refillable mugs from 1972, "free" parking, scrapper collectible pins, pool and park hopping. You can't stop them. It's frustrating as hell for those of us who actually pay for what we should, but you can't change people, so stop trying. That's my philosophy anyways.

Great philosophy. :thumbsup2

We've already discussed this exact same thing here. OP please utilize the search function - threads like this do absolutely nothing other than spark heated debates and flaming.

I hope mods shut this down soon since this conversation ran it's course a couple of weeks ago.

I have received a PM suggesting this for just about every thread I have ever started. It's not easy to achieve originality in the presence of hundreds or thousands of pre-existing threads. Once I even got raked over the coals for not knowing that there was a 100+ message thread about the same subject matter in 2004 (!?).

Anyhoo, point taken, I will try to locate pre-existing discussions of my topic of interest and will refrain from posting when I find any.

I agree with you. That is why these people should be banned from WDW forever. On my last trip I spent over 72 hours patrolling the parking lots. We can’t leave this to the CMs! I physically blocked a few cars and killed a man with a trident. If you see someone parking illegally you should kill them with a trident.

I asked my aunt and she said you can "borrow" her handicapped tag on your next trip so you'll have the first spot every time. She also said you can rent her ECV for a nominal fee. :cool2:

Already a few steps ahead of you. When we visit WDW we typically buy 20-30 cars. I park each car in the handicapped spaces to ENSURE that it is not abused by anyone. I also rent every single ECV to also ENSURE that no one is abusing this as well. I consider it my duty to police what other people do.

You are cracking me up today!:lmao:

I see you are from the UK so getting a trident here will be difficult. I can suggest a local trident rental shop in the Orlando area. Aside from ManBearPig, parking is the most important issue to Disney management. I’m afraid that if it is not corrected the events will be catastrophic.

But there car is still there though, are you going to command the earth to part and swallow up the car.

The first trip it was a problem. By the second we learned that we needed to rent a tow truck for our visits. So it is really very simple impale the illegal parker with a trident and then tow the car.

I find a pitchfork much more convenient than a trident. With a pitchfork, you can start riot. You just have to find a guy with a torch.

You are probably right. But my daughter likes the Little Mermaid and we like to be immersed in the Disney magic. The trident was the only way we could get her to spear these parking animals.

I like the solution they have for handicapped parking spots here in Toronto. They give people with handicapped signs the ability to ticket people themselves. My MIL has a bunch of these tickets in her car, and she's used two or three.

I purchased a submarine car so we can hide it at the bottom of Bay Lake. We scuba to Fort Wilderness, eat at Trail's end and take a moment to fill our pockets with exta fried chicken to eat in the parks. We then make sure to get a guest assistance card we don't need and go on every ride in all four parks on a one day parkhopper.

It's the only way to Dis.

Wow, that's some entourage you have there! :dancer:

She likes the smilies. I wish they had one so I could track how many souls I've crushed for illegally parking.

In other news, I've heard that if you challenge a CM to Row Sham Bow that they must accept.

Another satisfied customer.... or someone who didn't like the answers given to the original question. :rolleyes1

Exactly!!!!!!

Don't want to hear what policy actually is, don't post. If you are looking to cheat or scam, just go about your business. There is no need to clue the rest of us in on it.

Comment not meant for anyone in particular, just as a general fyi.:rolleyes1

Hi my buttercup! I've started killing people with tridents so this should cut down on parking.

The one thing that I will say .... $14 is a ridiculous amount to charge for parking!!! To me, it is appalling that after how much you pay to GET INTO THE PARKS that they screw you for parking too.

Why not free?

Or nominal.

And don't get me started on the $7 for a locker!!!!!!!!

I can deal with ticket prices ... I can even deal with the food prices ... but the parking pissed me off!

Well ... considering that part of WDW's strategy is to keep people AT WDW, discouraging the driving of personal or rental vehicles by assessing a parking fee seems pretty logical to me. If you get pissed off by paying for parking, you're either going to stay on site where it's free, or you're going to get an AP or some other ticket media that includes parking. This is, clearly, is what Disney prefers.

And if you've ever walked out of DAK, totally forgotten where you parked your car, remembered AS the Security Host was driving you around that you actually started the day at Epcot and came to DAK in the afternoon (leaving your car at Epcot) and then had the Security host say, "No problem ... let me get someone to drive you over to Epcot" -- then that $14 is well worth it.

:earsboy:

Regarding the Row Sham Bow challenge, just make sure you get to go first. Makes all the difference in the world.
