We will be staying at a value resort in September and there is a family member that has to take insulin daily. Will disney provide her with a free fridge or will she have to pay?

They *should* give her a free fridge, but it's very possible that it will only be a shoebox size, large enough for the insulin and nothing else. If you want to be able to use a fridge to store food, you should plan on paying the $10 a day for it, and be pleasantly surprised if you get the larger one.

Have a great trip!

I think what Ducklite was trying to explain is that it may not be an actual refrigerator but it should meet her needs. Often the dorm-size refrigerators are the ones you'd pay for while requesting a fridge for meds will give you a really tiny shoebox-size one. It really depends on their supply but the answer is yes, you should be able to get one comp to store medication. Be sure to request one on your ressie as if they were to be out of stock the alternative would be their offer to store your meds at the front desk- not very convenient. If insulin needs to be stored during the day there is a fridge in the park's First Aid centers and they'll store it there- no charge of course.---Kathy

That's exactly what I was saying.

I am a type 1 diabetic and have never had any trouble getting a free fridge. I stayed at POP last Sept, all I did was a few days before check in I called POP and reminded them. They said it was allready noted on my reservation. So just make sure you tell whoever you are booking with that there is a diabetic travelly in your party.

A Mickey Premium Ice Creme bar is 2 units of Regular for me. :rolleyes1

Hey guys,

I just called because this thread reminded me to call. I am a diabetic also and DTC told me it wouldn't be a problem. They made a note on my reservation that I needed a fridge for medical purposes. We shall see when I arrive on Friday!

We have always gotten a free, full-sized fridge for insulin when staying at the values. It's never been questioned.

I didn't realize they had a smaller than dorm size fridge. I've been getting a fridge for free for my insulin for the past 10 yrs. Never a problem. I've never seen anything other than the dorm size at the values. We've been able to fit milk, juice, water, pop & beer for DH, plus some cheese and a couple pieces of fruit.

You'll definetely be able to fit more than just your insulin in the fridge.
