I'm totally not trying to be snarky and am saying sorry to the OP for this being off-topic, but why do most of the DVC members on hear rave about DVC ownership, if it's not really a good deal and you are just pre-paying for your resort. And why do I see many of them complain that they don't get any discounts? What is the upside of DVC ownership?

Not to go off-topic again but it really is a personal decision and there are very clear posts on those boards about why we have all bought DVC. Maybe try again but it is definitely not for everyone

There is definitely a major discount. It may me marginal the first 10 years or so. But the fact after the 10th year I can stay at any resort for as long as I want on my points for just 400 a year is excellent. Not to mention you are priced locked in at the year you bought it. If a resort room 20 years from now is $200 more a night due to inflation, or what have you, it won't affect you whatsoever.

For example, after running the numbers, we are saving over $2000 staying at BLT on points rather than paying cash, and still have points for another vacation/mini vacation this year.

We never understood the benefit to much until we stopped into the Disney Doorway to Dreams place in our mall.

P.S That being said...Free Dining would be very nice lol
