Turns out this trip, free dining is cheaper than even 40% off room.I'm looking at dates. If free dining starts three days after I want to arrive, do I have hope or do I have to ajust my dates?

If you still want to arrive on the same day and free DDP starts 3 days later what you can do is book 2 separate stays with the second portion starting the first day of free DDP. ( Most of the time you can even stay in the same room) There have been posts that say you are able to pick up your tix 3 days before so if so that would work for you as far as the min. ticket purchase. You wouldn't want to have to buy 2 separate sets of tix just to get the free dining.

If you don't want to do it that way then you need to arrive on the first day of free DDP.

We priced it out and even with several character meals we saved more with the 40% room discount.

I agree with PP's. You would have to adjust your dates or book 2 packages, and the dates not included in Free Dining, you would obviously have to pay for your meals.

As to which is cheaper, I think Free Dining is more of a deal for the larger parties. I know that when we go in September 2012, we are hoping for free dining. We are having a 2 family "grand gathering" which includes, 4 adults and 7 kids (17,15,14,12,12,10,8) given the fact that most of our kids are considered Disney Adults, and most eat like adults as well, the Free Dining is a HUGE discount. Smaller families with maybe just 2 adults with one or two younger kids would probably benefit more with 40%.

We are a family of 5 with 4 of us being Disney adults and we get the best discount from FD. It all depends on your family. Hope it all works out.
