My dad and I did free dining in Sep and really enjoyed it. Now he wants to treat me and DH to a trip, and get free dining with his Disney Visa. Can he get the free dining if he, the cardholder, will not be there? I told him I don't think they would let him do that, but he says since he is paying for it with his DV, he should be allowed to get the best deal! Which is it? Thanks!

I can tell you that when it comes to room discounts the person who's name is on the booking must be present upon check-in.

My Mom is an airline employee and we booked our room with an airline employee discount. She had to be present upon check in to receive the rate. The same goes for Florida resident rates.

I would naturally assume the same would apply for dining.

I was able to do this for several people recently for the November/December dates. One CM said we couldn't, but when I called back later, I was told it would be no problem.

Well, that sounds hopeful! I will have my dad call them tomorrow. Thanks!!

and that CM got written up and lost credit for the reservation.

I have been able to do this successfully with at least a half a dozen CM's. I have specifically asked each time before going through the whole process if the Visa holder has to be on the reservation, and only one time was I told yes - the remaining times I was assured it was never a problem. This applied for August, November and December dates.

not arguing, just saying thats the way it used to be. New policies state the card holder has to be traveling. Of course with 1200 CM's of varying intelligence they all dont know the policies. Not that it matters to anyone but the CM but they lose credit for the booking but its their own fault for not knowing the policy

I never knew that the CMs making the reservations make a commission. I'm surprised that they wouldn't cancel my AP reservation and make a new one when the rates decreased for the current Sept 28-Dec offer. They told me to do it online if the rates went down. THey told me go book it on line if you can kind of sarcasticly. I was very surprised at the attitude (2 CMs) I did ok online and when I called to cancel the higher priced reservation, they asked why I didn't just call them!! I guess all have different methods of operation but it was a runaround and I ended up with the lower price anyway.

Just wondering.....

Why not apply for a card of your own and just lock it away & only use it for Disney? There is no annual fee

They dont get commission but they get bonuses and prizes and stuff for booking reservations. If they do something against policy, whether knowing it or not, they lose that booking
