Okay my friend is trying to convince me to take our kids next year during the time that Disney offers the free dining package and I have some questions.
Can I use a discount for the package , through AAA?
If there's a code involved, can I book the room/tickets and then add it on?
When do they normally come out with the dates?
I think it's similar to the dining package-1 counter, 1 sit down, 1 snack per day. When can I make PS for them? Do I have to let them know that it's part of the package?

You can only have one discount at a time, either free dining or AAA. Obviously, free dining is better.

You can indeed book the room now. You can even add the dining plan now since package prices for 2008 are out. When the code comes out apply it to the ressie, assuming there are rooms at that resort left. The code date is sometime in April. Disney Visa cardholders get the code first before it's released to the general public. You can make all your dinner ADR's at 180 days out, make sure you do. I'd have it all planned out before I'd call so you can just make one call.

No, you cannot combine discounts. Also, keep in mind there is NO guarantee that this promotion will be offered next year, especially given the change in the current plan and the addition of the deluxe plan.

I think that a LOT depends on the hurricanes. If any of them "disrupt" travel or Disney then you have a MUCH better shot at Free Dining. If not, then.... your chances decrease. Don't forget Disney started this after a really bad year for Florida....People have "short memories" LOL!

The best way to plan a trip to Disney is to plan on paying for the trip at all rack rate, that way you'll know what you can afford if no discounts are available. It's better than being disappointed because you can't swing the trip.

If you get a code or discount, then it's all gravy. :)

Thats exactly what I do. I save as if I am going to have to pay the full price. If a special comes out then that just means I get to do more shopping with the money I saved!!

Free DDP in 2008 is definitely a go for UK residents...so that's a good sign it will be offered in the US too. However, it seems that each year it is offered the booking window is smaller. Also, values are not included (in the UK offer anyway) so for the people that prefer staying at POP/Allstars, it might be cheaper to just pay OOP and only order the food you would normally eat.

What are the dates being offered now for UK guests? I hope whatever discounts are offered to the US GP are also extended prior to UK guests, meaning if it's limited for you now for value resorts, then the same should hold true if/when the rest of get to book with a free dining promo. Seems unfair to limit a particular demographic to booking only moderate/deluxe properties. For me then perhaps there won't be the struggle to justify getting a moderate/deluxe for the extra $$ if it's all that's offered, or perhaps the codes will be a better deal even paying for dining ( as for the deluxes with the 40% this year).---Kathy
