Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!! Dates Confirmed!!! ~ Part 2

Thank you so much to everyone on this board! I have been following along and was able to get my free dining this morning! I had to postpone our Dec 2012 trip to this December.

I got up at 5:55am my time this morning and called on my cell at exactly 6am. I totally forgot about having my reservation number available and don't know if that helped me or not, but I was the second call of the day answered by my CM. I could tell she was grumpy, but I had her smiling by the time I was done with the call. She told me the caller before her chewed her out for not being able to get free dining. She didn't have to change anything except modify to add free dining. My phone call lasted a total of 19 minutes.

I got CSR in a standard room with free dining for Dec 13-20, which were the dates I booked over a year ago! Yay! yay! Also, got my confirmation email 1 hour later!

I called a number and the lady answered and said " Walt Disney World, Can I help you"? I wanted to shout for joy and then I told her I needed to book a new package and she transferred me and of course got the " all circuits are busy".....

BOO BOO BOO... I am really starting to be discouraged... We already have Halloween tix so my dates aren't flexible either...

Just a little FYI...when you cancel a discounted room (free dining or room discount) it doesn't go back into the discounted room inventory, it goes back into the rack rate inventory. So those of you thinking that all those that double-booked with the discounts will be freeing up those discounted rooms...think again!!!

Not necessarily true! When the summer promotion came out the bc had nothing for our dates, the next morning almost every category was open with the discounts so they will discount more rooms. I canceled a wl standard this am and switched to yc so hopefully a lot of others will be doing the same.

Looks like POR has some availability for Oct 18-26 showing up online.

A word of caution, though, for people using the online reservations page... A couple of times this morning as I was playing with it, I clicked in directly through the "Special Offers" link that gives you discounted prices/packages, and while it initially showed me the discount pricing, it then defaulted back to the non-discounted price on its own if I started to leave or refresh the page. I believe it was at times I let it sit idle for a few minutes. I then had to go back to zero again and search through the Special Offers link all over again. If you don't watch it carefully, a person could end up checking out without the discount. Most people probably would figure it out by the time it's in their cart, but I just wanted to put the warning out there.

We were up at 4am on the west coast here with the rest of you and missed out on POR-AB for the 5 of us but did grab a different resort instead, which will still be fine. (Checked the website last night, too, but it sounds like the deal became accessible after we went to bed and before we got up. Lesson learned for next trip.) Hoping more rooms open up in the next days/weeks!

Well I haven't heard from my TA since early yesterday morning. Have no idea how it's going or what she got for me...i was going to try and do it today myself...but with the system not working properly...that is a no go.

Sooooooo I am not going to worry and just hope my Ta comes through. If not..well I am sure there is a bench some place in MK that will hold five of us...or at least a couple benches. Hopefully it will rain so we can get a shower once in awhile. I would think since the bench is on disney property they would at least count that as a stay and give me fd.

Don't forget with all these ressie switches and changing dates to post any ADR's you'll be cancelling in the Cancel ADR forum so folks who are waiting for certain ADR's get a heads up!

According to the CM I spoke to this am she said she is processing almost as many room cancellations as she is new ressie's and changes. I would imagine with that in mind once the dust settles the occupancy rates will look much different and they would re-examine things! If nothing else open up a few more FD rooms at places that are "full".

KEEP THE FAITH...even if you don't get FD today!

That's the good news . . . the bad news is that for POR and for CSR the available rooms for my dates are all more expensive than what I want to pay. I'm going to give up and check back in a few days. We haven't fully psyched ourselves up to go to Disney, so I can afford to chill for a few days.

She's the best and so helpful. I chose my dates and made my ADRs back in April based on Smitch's suggestion/advice. When the FD Pin came out in May and my sister got it our dates of October 19-26 were spot on. Had my heart set on POFQ and my family and I will be staying there with Free Dining.

We just got word from our TA. We got Free dining, saving us just over $1500. We switched our savannah view to standard at the AKL, but I think the savings are worth it. Thank you guys, this thread has been so helpful to us!!

I just want to say thank you to all those that take the time to help all us newbies out. I knew free dining was a possibility when I made the reservations what seems ages ago. Without all you that take the time to answer the same questions over and over, I wouldn't even know where to start. We were able to get free dining this morning and with the money saved, $1200, I be able to surprise my 13 DS and DH with surfing lessons while we are there! This is a once in lifetime trip for us and I am so excited, can't say thank you enough! Its going to be a long 78 days and it will probably be the fastest 8 days ever.
