The UK 'deal' is fine but the room costs have shot up by about £1500 ($1700) from what they have been the last few years.

For me. It's now out priced me staying on property. Now planning to stay off property and save a TON of cash too
That's a huge hike in price! So sorry you won't be able to stay on property. I'm not staying on property this year either, as my cousins have a time share and I'm going with them. The only draw back I see is that we can't book FP's 60 days out....and hoping to book the new Pandora rides.

Lot's of folks think there will be limited days for certain dates because of the food and wine festival.

Yep and Disney is stupid for doing that because instead of eating at all on property places you're going to give your dollars elsewhere.

Also, they're not getting your dollar for hotel stay either. Greedy.

Been saying this for years...and I've gotten all sorts of grief for it.

Cause disney is not trying to exploit the WDW customer to make up for a lack of free money off espn...not at all...it's all about magical dreams and memories...

...yeah...

I've seen several comments on a couple other threads about people staying onsite at Universal and then buying discounted Disney tickets because it's so much cheaper. They've made no secret in the last few quarterly calls they're willing to sacrifice some attendance for the sake of higher prices so long as the bottom line shows a profit. But now I think it's gotten to the point that their pricing isn't making up for the loss of attendance. I'll be interested to see how much the opening of Pandora affects that. However, when SWL opens all bets are off. They'll be printing money. I wonder how much they'll jack up the ticket price for DHS?

Regardless, right now Disney is cutting off their nose to spite their face. I'm going in September regardless of FD or not. But my original reservation was for POR with a PH ticket. I've already cut that back to a preferred room at POP with no PH. How many others have done that? And how many aren't going to go at all without FD? And the UK deal. A $1,700 increase? That's crazy. They could've raised it 1/3rd of that and kept guests onsite. Now they've driven them offsite, losing the resort stay plus meals onsite. I dunno. It just doesn't make sense to me.

We had intended 14 nights in two rooms at CBR with hopper and hopes of free dining . We have a party of 6 . (3) 18 year olds 13 year old DH And myself. Hubby gets discounts on Wyndham Suites so off property and it's looking more and more like a Universal/ Sea World Florida sight seeing trip. They only way we can get through to Disney is not give Disney Money . I will miss MNSSHP , Night of Joy , I feel like our family is getting divorced from Disney It's that heartbreaking. #thanksshanghai #thanksespn #disneyheartbroken

That is, quite literally, the only way to get through. If you still go anyway, you will compound the problem you're trying to avoid - escalating prices with no similar return on value. Doesn't matter if you "downgrade" or "stay less", since you'll still probably give them the same amount of money you planned (just in a different, and probably more advantageous for Disney, way). You need to cut cold turkey if you ever want a chance to stop the price escalations...

Yup seems most likely to me to be dropping on the 24th. I know rumours abound of it being released on April 17th, but i don't see it happening on Easter Monday. Thus, April 24th is the next likely date.
So if this happens, we "should" be able to change the reservation to add it online around 4 am, correct? No calls till 6am? I have off site training that week but not till 8am and I don't want to have to wait until I get home!! Thank you! :)

Correct. Although it may not be exactly 4, could be 5ish. Should hopefully hear something the day before at least.

You also want to check your reservation to see if the Modify button is there. Some people have reported it being missing or unavailable, in which case you'd have to call.

Phone lines open at 7am est.

Fingers crossed!!!

I don't see a modify but there is a change button along with a cancel. Is the change the same thing as modify? Thank you, fingers crossed for you too! (all of you!)

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney only offers free QS for people staying in the mods. When we took advantage of free dining, we would stay at PO or CBR and are a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teenage adults, 1 child). The cost of the room was around $180/night and we would be getting the ddp free which has a value of around $280/day for our family of 5. I know Disney still made money on us but giving the ddp to a family of 5 staying in a moderate was always a good deal.

It's an excellent deal. However, what if your room price was now $240/night?

Yes, the change button is what you need. Happy waiting!

I found the change button on mine. But I dont see anywhere to put in an offer code. Would I add dining plan to my reservation than checkout. And at checkout find somewhere to enter an offer code

You would select change button and the current offers would come up- select free dining offer - if the offer is available for your dates then accept the changes - you reservation number should not change.
