Free Dining extended to September 2012 (Canada)

See the spot where it says (in the address) CA&market? That means the offer is for the Canadian market.

I tried and tried to get people here to listen since a CM told me that the free dining may get removed from those that booked the offer outside of Canada but I got harassed and called things and some said I was spreading "doom and gloom". :sad2: Whatever. I just tried to warn people. I have already seen 5 people that have gone back to look at their remaining balance to find that the DDP was added back onto their package.

Yes. It does.

They eventually will. But not yet. I have my trip paid for already and cannot get the CM's to add FD to my res cause they all say it is not available for the US right now.

NO WAY!!! See, we are playing it the fair and safe way!! I was part of that post when someone wrote that to you. :( I don't get why people become so rude, even when they are doing something wrong. We'll get the FD...just a matter of when that is making me nuts!!

With my luck, I'd be flagged at the front desk and have to pay $1300 for the DDP when I don't have my passport or CA ID.

Not likely. A couple of CMs have told me that the most that would happen is if (or when) the US offer is extended then your res would be ignored and everything would be fine but that they are "looking at things right now" (I assume that means checking home addresses which takes a while) and if it is found then the FD may be removed from the package. Hopefully most of those that used this loophole will not get found but I have already seen 5 people get "caught" and had their FD removed and the cost of the DDP added back onto their res.

... A chat box popped up and I chatted with Madeline and I asked her about the offer. She said that it's a Canadian offer and proof of residency would be required upon check-in....

Thank you. I have been trying and trying to help people out by telling them this and I keep getting flamed for it. I guess people just want this promo so badly that they will lose it on anyone that tells them that it isn't valid. I really truly hope people get to keep this offer (even though they knew full well that it wasn't supposed to be done ;)) and that they don't get burned for it. No matter how many of them called me names and said I was spreading doom and gloom.

More reason I will just wait.

I'm am one that booked with the CAD Fd and didn't know it. I did cancle mine. But when I called to cancle the cm said it was fine and that I should keep it. I still cancled because it was the right thing to do and I don't want to be there at check in having to come up with extra money.

I'm going to book our trip in a few weeks and start paying on it anyway. But we will book pop with the QSDP and if FD comes out we will probably upgrade.

I'm sure FD will be offered to the us residents.

I expect that that FD promo will get extended through the end of Sept around the end of March to the beginning of May 2012. In 2009 it was extended on March 30, in 2010 it was May 3, and this year it was May 2.

I'd say you are completely correct. September is basically always free dining, and I don't expect that to change. But they are mostly pushing back the announcement of discounts for American visitors, so I don't expect it to be announced for quite a while.

I still expect Oct-Dec room discounts.... and I don't remember the last time they hadn't been announced by now.

Is it a safe bet that it will be the same dates as the Canadian offer?

They are later than usual. The latest rumors (by phone CMs) are "in the next two weeks" (stated on Tues) and "at the beginning of next month". They're definitely delaying.

I do believe that CMs have advance notice of new codes.. but typically only by a couple of days. When they are saying thinks like "check early next month" -- They are playing the same guessing game, that we are.

What's interesting... I'm seeing more and more posts about resorts being filled up for October dates. And by waiting so long, they aren't going to attract tons of new guests with a public code. (Most people plan their vacation more than 1 month out).

We really *might* (just possibly) be looking at a real change where they do most of the discounting by targeted pin codes, with real limits on public offers. We may see the typical fall room discount offer, or we might see nothing for the general public... or I wouldn't be shocked to see a last minute offer with very limited availability, meant just to nudge occupancy up by a couple points with last minute travelers.

Free dining has come out for select weeks. But in terms of general fall discounts, I don't think we've seen anything this late since before the recession.

Most CMs are tipped off when overtime is offered which seems to be pretty last minute. The person who heard the " next month" said it sounded like a blow-off response so I'm not putting much stock in it.

There is still availability in Oct for some weeks. My dates are still low crowds and only the monorail/Epcot resorts are showing high availability. There seems to be quite a bit of availability in Nov though. There definitely seem to be a lot of pin codes going out.

I'm still hoping for a GP discount to get me on the boardwalk. But there's already a nice discount available at Swan/Dolphin. I might wait another week for Disney but not more than that.

In their recent earning release, Disney claimed that on average, people are booking their vacations 14 weeks in advance. An "improvement" over 13 weeks last year. If true, then the "average" Thanksgiving guest is booking around now. If bookings continue as solidly as they claim things are going, and if things don't slow down with the stock market downturn.... Then November should start filling up over the next couple of weeks.

With October less than 6 weeks away, they clearly aren't aiming October discounts for the typical-average guests.

Still, I'd be quite surprised if we didn't see a room-only discount for most of October and November.

But between pin discounts, AP discounts, Florida resident discounts, military discounts, free dining offers.... They may feel they can skip "cheapening their product" with a general public discount.

It's also against posting guidelines to post that link.

It's against the DISBoards policy (a DISNEY forum site) to post a DISNEY website link? Really? Can you explain that madness to me?

I actually thought you couldn't post a link if it was for personal profit??? Just wish I could profit from all those getting FD!!!

???? I think that would mean a site that you were selling something from like eBay. Not Disney's own site. I wish I made money off of Disney.

Exactly what I thought. People post links to Disney offers here all the time because the only money we make off of it is when we can use the discount ourselves!
