I told my friend about the free dining package@ Disney, and when she called for a quote she was told that they have been sold out for quite a while now. She wanted to stay at a value resort. Anybody else told the same?

They have been upgrading some of the bookings from the values - moving them to SSR or OKW. Sounds like they overbooked. I have heard that all the "free dining offer" rooms at the values were sold out but there were still some at some of the mod hotels. There are also rooms open at the deluxes - but that is more of a jump in price.
Have her price out a few different hotels - she may find that with the free dining the mod prices are affordable. I know a lot of families have taken the opportunity to try a hotel they would not normally have afforded.

I upgraded to mod. resort: port orleans -french on the dining plan. The price was more, but not to bad. Have a good day.:)

If they really want to go tell them to book anything that is available. There are still deluxe available. Once they are booked they can make changes to the ressie. As the deadline approches for final payment people will start cancelling and then a value might become available. The deposit is refundable as long as the pakage is cancelled before the final payment date.

I'm going for free dining on Aug.26 and my final payment is due July 12. The promotion must be booked by June 24.

you didn't say whether this is a family or just a couple. If it's a couple maybe they could find another couple to go on the trip and share the room. It would make staying at a deluxe really cheap if you're only paying half of the room expense.

Keep checking the disney.com site. I came arcoss a value with free dining about 1 week ago and I am sure its gone, but at times when there were none, and I re-checked later there might have been one available. Good Luck :)

When are you going. I checked on line and the All Star Sport is still open for my dates Sep. 4-18. They even have Standard Rooms open.

Check on line and see what is still open for your dates.

Hi!
Thanks for all the replies. My friend (family of 4) has decided not to go. She can only go Aug. 26 to Sept.2. She works in a school:teacher: and starts work after Labour Day. They checked flights and they are crazy right now. Even checked out of Buffalo and all the cheaper flights taken for those dates.
Personally I would have booked as soon as the free dining was released....but that's just me....a fanatic planner.
On the other hand my brother in law booked just after the release and got great flights with West Jet and they got their first choice in hotel...Pop Century. They are so excited :yay:  :cheer2: ...it's been 5 years for them....way overdue says my brother in law.
