What a helpful thread! Here's my question: We're going Dec. 13-17, and were planning to spend Dec 18-19 at a Universal hotel to get early admission to Harry Potter. But now we may be in FL in August for family obligations and could go to Harry Potter then instead rather than in December; won't know for sure for a while. If I booked free dining Dec 13-19 and later decided that we only wanted to stay through the 17th to go to a Universal hotel for two days, can I drop those two days without losing my whole reservation? Alternatively, has anyone done Harry Potter in December while staying at a Disney hotel (without early admission and express pass), and if so, was it manageable? Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

We did Harry Potter last year in Spring break, no early admission. At park opening we went straigt there and it was like 15min.

I did this last year. When I checked in at our resort the CM moved my 2 say pass behind my annual pass. Then, at her recommendation, before I entered our first park I went to Guest Services and they confirmed this had been done. Worked well and I felt better after double checking with GS.

Ok, so I can have someone at the resort do it. I did not realize that. I thought Guest Services was past the entrance?? Our paper tickets (the ones we plan to use) are actually at Guest Services...so would I still be able to get anything done at the resort or would I have to have Guest Services do it? Sorry if this sounds silly/confusing!

You need to have your TA call first thing tomorrow morning and book it!!! Make sure to touch base with her tonight! Rooms at certain categories sell out quickly and it can't just be applied to an existing reservation unless it's still available for that particular category.

Will I lose all of my ADR's that I made?

My husband applied for the Disney Visa last Friday and was approved, but of course, hasn't gotten it yet. I guess there's no way I can book with the Visa discount tomorrow?

So do we have to call at exactly 7 tomorrow or a few minutes before? And what is the best number to call?

If you are staying at a value resort ,and making your reservation online with free dining ,can you upgrade your meal plan online or do you have to call?

Dining reservations are not linked to a resort reservation. Changes or cancelations of a resort reservation have no effect on dining. It is helpful to make sure the CM makes all modification or cancel/rebook in the same travel plan. CM lingo, but any CM should know what you are talking about. Packages made online need a guest services assist to allow same travel plan booking. An easy thing to do.
Awesome news, thanks!

Whew! This thread is hard to keep up with!! I can only imagine what it will be like tomorrow! Yikes!

I've seen this question asked in a few places, but I can't get a definitive answer. The free dining dates haven't worked out the way we wanted. We wanted to do a split stay with free dining for the first half of the trip and a room only discount for the second part of the trip. Due to the free dining dates, we have to do the reverse with the room only discount at a deluxe hotel at the beginning and free dining at a moderate hotel afterwards. My question pertains to park tickets. Are we able to pick up our park tickets (bought with our free dining reservation...) to use during our first hotel stay (bought with room only)? I've read both that you CAN and CAN'T. :confused3 Anyone have any personal experience with this?

Anyone see any emails from DV yet? Kinda quiet here!!!! turning into a Disney fanatic

I heard we normally don't, and if you do it will be around 3pm tomorrow. I randomly receive emails from DV, but I know my friend always gets specials, etc. all the time in her email.

Thinking now that we have more 'adults' then children in our group that it might be worth it to upgrade to a moderate this year (first year ever to consider that)......just looking at the listed moderates that were covered. Are there specific rooms that are covered? We'd need a junior suite (to sleep 6).

I forget, if I start my vacation 1 day before the free dining starts, can I free dining for the whole length of my stay?

Thanks.

Great idea to be armed and ready to go! :thumbsup2 Is this the number we call, just the reservation line? 407-939-1936? Are there any tips to bypass a pre-recording to get to a CM? :confused3 TIA!! Getting antsy and excited! :cool1::cool1:

Yikes! Is this the best number to call???I will have to wait till next week as I haven't received the Visa card yet.

you need the card in hand in order to book early, but if he was approved last Friday you could very well have the card before the FD offer goes to the general public on May 7th. Still would give you an advantage of booking before GP.
