I called this morning and nothing attached for our dates in Sept. I got a really good CM and I started the conversation with 'I book rooms for a living and know how you must be feeling right now". She seemed like she welcomed the chance for someone to understand. She said its been a tough week. People are calling asking for the FD and insisting it is there becuase someone on a message board said it was. And she also said that people arent always being friendly..telling the CMs "I know its there..check again..so and so on the message board said that the first CM said it wasnt there then they got the manager and it was there" She said that every situation is different and she cant make things happen for every person. Even though she would love to. I said "It must be hard to keep the magic going when you got someone like that on the phone" and she said "You have no idea. We would love to give you want you want, if for anything, not to have you call back every hour on the hour..lol. There is no reason for us to hide a PIN or a special offer. It would be so much easier just to say YES ITS HERE..than it is to argue for 20 minutes that it isnt there". I felt bad for her and I understand where she is coming from completely. Maybe because I am in the travel business and understand that sometimes people call and say 'I know you can do better than that". No, I really cant. It is impossible. But because people on forums and even those guys who go on tv and spout that tehre is ALWAYS wiggle room and you just have to be persistant..that isnt always the case.
So..with that being said..Im gonna continue to be on the lookout..but Im not going to be agressive or pushy. It will come out..It usually does. I dont think there has been that many of us that have been utterly disappointed in the end.
. She did some checking, and sure enough, there was a Free Dining pin! My dates are late June, and I had, in fact, already booked a couple of weeks ago. The CM who talked me into booking actually told me that people often get pins after they have booked. Wasn't totally buying that, but turns out he was right~!
(leave tonight), so if there is an opportunity, I'd hate to miss it because we'll be gone for more than a week now...
With unrest in the Mideast, skyrocketing gas prices, soaring food prices, news stories saying there are even more homes going into forclosure than there were 2 years ago, the majority of states having major fiscal problems, local governments & schools threatening mass layoffs, I don't think we can call our economy "recovered".
