Free Dining 2008 Watch

I'm hearing you are not able to do this anymore, that free dining will end on the last day of the offer, but we will know for sure once dissers start posting what they booked. And you are actually quite lucky to be able to get 9days of free dining, it's absolutely worth having to check-in again the next day, just do it early before the crowds start rolling in. Linda :)

I hope it is not true that i you check in the last day you can't continue with the free dining. We have done it that way for the past two years. I am an accountant at a private corporation, I would not be allowed to take off before the 20th. True we could go in Aug, but our annivesary is in September. It's our celebration, hopefully each year.

mm1112 are you not using ME or are you heading off property a few times? We have used it and love it!! It is free and they bring your luggage to your room. Just thought I would ask because it will save you money.
Also have you tried priceline for a rental car. We got a rental car for $11 dollars a day including taxes which was normally $26 plus taxes when we went to N.Redington Beach last year.

I will be going off property. Plus, I have multiple breakfast and dinners ADR's in other resorts.

I would rather pay for the DDP that go through the trouble of having two reservations. I will try to convice the CM to give me a hotel upgrade for not be able to use the free dining.

I cant believe I am the first to post this. My Mom is a travel agent. She recieved an email this morning from her Disney Rep. Here are the details for 2008 Free Dining. 08/24/08 - 09/20/08. Disney Visa holders can book on 04/07/08 with code AYG...General public opens up on 04/10/08...sorry she didnt give me hte code for this one, as I have been waiting for the Disney visa code.
Good Luck to all.

Hey there:

I'm new to these dbs but if you hear about the discount codes for non Visa holders, let me know.

Thanks,

Brian

If all the speculation is true, there is one item that seems to be a bit unfair. I am arriving on 8/23 for 10 nights. I will then have to have a seperate reservation for the first night in order to qualify for the free DDP. However, if someone checks in on the last day of free DDP they get if for the length of their stay.

We don't know if thats true for this year ..... We will have to see on Monday.
Again all of this is rumor.........

I am in the same boat that I was last year.... I am excitedly waiting for tommorrow, not because I have a DV... but because it will be official once those that do can start booking!

Last year, I was nervous that there would be no rooms left for those without the Visa... but someone posted that a CM told them that there were rooms set aside for GP as well.... I responded with a TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR that produced a few giggles from other posters.... but had me a bit red in the face!:guilty:

That does give some glimmer of hope..... that means they did set aside rooms for us non VD peeps! But since I already have a room reserved thru Dreams Unlimited, I have to sit and wait tommorrow on pins and needles hoping that she got the free dining on at the same resort.... gonna be a long day till I hear from her! ARGGGGGGGG

THURSDAY CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH!!!!

:welcome:Welcome Brian, if we get the visa code tomorrow on Mon. then you will have your general public code for free dining on Thursday the 10th. Be prepared to call at 7 am Thursday morning. Check here tomorrow and you will know the dates and all the specifics. Good luck !!

How do you go about booking your trip with the free DDP? I am a disney visa card holder. How do I book our trip? Do I have to call Disney? Or can I do it online?
TIA
Allison

I have room only for August 18 - 30. Do you think I should call today and rebook the 18-24 as room only and 24 through 30 with dining? I ask because I dont want them to cancel my entire reservation as I have a 30% code.....I am trying to figure out which would be faster for the CM at reservations. I am even making sense? lol

What if I call and say DO NOT cancel my original reservation until I reserve the FD room? But by modifying my original reservation it may open up a room for FD that may not be open if I dont (family suite).

Somebody tell me they understand what I am asking.....

I plan on that room one way or the other so dont consider myself holding a room for no reason...

Last year I called the day it was offered, and could only get into All Star Sports.
I did want Pop, but couldn't get in.

I called back a few weeks later, and was able to get Pop. So don't worry if you don't get your first choice, it may still come up between now and when you go in 4 monthes!!

Diane ~ do you have a family suite booked? Family suites are generally not included in disney promotions and I don't think they have ever been offered for free dining. If you are willing to go into 2 rooms then I would not cancel anything since you will have to have 2 seperate reservations anyway. You could do 1/2 suite and 1/2 2 rooms or if the suites are available then just call and book free dining for the days offered (we do not know for sure the dates, just rumors) then modify your existing reservation with the 30% off for the dates before free dining.

We are doing 2 rooms at POP instead of a suite, Its cheaper and you get 2 bathrooms and showers.

I will be going off property. Plus, I have multiple breakfast and dinners ADR's in other resorts.

You have to stay on Disney property to get the free dining. It is only offered to Disney guest. Have you thought about making reservations at a Disney resort? Not only would you have acess to free dining but you wouldn't need a rental(DME & bus transportation to/from parks), EMH's, and you wouldn't have to pay for parking everyday if you did decide to get a rental(resort guest don't need to pay the parking fee).

If tomorrow is the day...I'm not sure what I should do- if I knew for sure I would call at 7 but since I don't it's driving me crazy- I have to be at work at 8:00 and can't call then (no cell phone signal at all at work) should I call my boss and say I'll be coming in late? When did DV let people know last year? The same day you could get the deal or the night before??? This is our first year with a DV and my friend read it on a board 2 years ago when she got FD- she never got an email from Chase?????:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Anyone remember or have advice for me?

If I read this right.... you missed part of the conversation... the original poster mentioned having a rental car as part of their res. someone asked if they rented because they planned on "going off property" the response to that was that they did plan on going off property as well as having ADRs at other resorts they wanted to drive to.... but as I understood they are planning on staying on property

We currently have CSR booked, but now I'm rethinking it wondering if we would be better off with two rooms @ POP. Since there are only four of us, can we book one room tomorrow w/free DDP and then add a second room later with a different type of discount (like AP or similar)? Can you hold two rooms consecutively with the same four people in them? I just don't want to pay rack rate for both rooms if I don't have to.

Yes I do have a family Suite booked but am still hoping for a slight chance of keeping it if I call as soon as they open....from what I have seen the Family Suites USED to not be included in discount promotions.....but this year I was able to first get a AAA Discount and then an Email 30% code. Thanks for your thoughts

This is my second choice...well it was actually my first choice and what I originally booked last AUGUST with AAA lol. I guess if I start with 4 nights at the Family Suites w/o Dining and finish with 6 nights at Pop (2 rooms) with Free Dining it won't be so bad right!! lol

I wish it was tomorrow already....I plan on going into work late. Hope my kids dont mind walking to school instead of their usual ride (its only 5 blocks but I work there so they usually get a ride lol).

Don't forget to add in the cost of the extra tickets you have to purchase under the second ressie when calculating your potential savings. Also, remember that with two ressies, you will have to got through two check in / check out processes. You also have to pack and unpack an additional time...just food for thought.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the excitement of getting something for "free", we forget to calculate the actual cost. For many, many families, a 30 - 40% room discount is a much better deal that FD - especially when staying at a moderate or deluxe resort. JMHO
