Free Dining 2008 Watch

Don't forget to add in the cost of the extra tickets you have to purchase under the second ressie when calculating your potential savings. Also, remember that with two ressies, you will have to got through two check in / check out processes. You also have to pack and unpack an additional time...just food for thought.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the excitement of getting something for "free", we forget to calculate the actual cost. For many, many families, a 30 - 40% room discount is a much better deal that FD - especially when staying at a moderate or deluxe resort. JMHO

We will be going to Seaworld and Aquatica and Disneyquest for the first few days....I know...the horror lol. I just thought it would be easier on us if we were at least on Disney property as opposed to offsite. I know they will transfer our luggage and stuff so it would be less of a hassle to check in than if we stay somewhere else. From what I have read there is no guarantee that you can stay in the same rooms or I would consider Pop for the entire time too..

How do you find these discounts for rooms. If I can't free dining a discount on the rooms would really help. We are arriving at Pop on Aug 22 - 30. Can anyone help???

I have room only for August 18 - 30. Do you think I should call today and rebook the 18-24 as room only and 24 through 30 with dining? I ask because I dont want them to cancel my entire reservation as I have a 30% code.....I am trying to figure out which would be faster for the CM at reservations. I am even making sense? lol

What if I call and say DO NOT cancel my original reservation until I reserve the FD room? But by modifying my original reservation it may open up a room for FD that may not be open if I dont (family suite).

Somebody tell me they understand what I am asking.....

I plan on that room one way or the other so dont consider myself holding a room for no reason...
Diane,

Just curious.. where did you get a 30% code? was it through AAA?

Pin codes are emailed/snail-mailed direct from Disney to specific individuals. Even if you get the code from someone, if it's not attached to your name in their system, you can't use it. Some people get them, some don't, and, though there are many theories as to the why and how, no one really knows how to better your chances of being one of the "chosen ones." Order the vacation planning dvd, put your name on all the mailing lists, and hope for the best!

We went December 1-9th and would love to go again this year but It all depends on the dates and the dining plan. My fingers are crossed that we get to go. It's funny, I used to wonder why people kept going back to Disney, vacation after vacation...I really thought that "those" people just lacked creativity on vacation planning...Well I'm very happy to be one of "Those" people now. I proudly sport a mickey watch and my car is know at the elementary as the Mickey car...Mikey antenna ball and silver Mickey decal. Our Family goal is to stay at every Disney Hotel. We've done Caribbean, Coronado, and Wilderness Lodge...Only a few dozen to go!

I hope to see you all there this year!

Take Care,
Becky

i know this question has probably been asked, but i don't have enough time to read every thread, can we get free dining if we have an annual pass?:confused3 :confused3

Yes but it wont be AS free because you will be required to purchase a 1 day base ticket for everyone in the room regardless. At least this is the way it has been in the past.

If all the speculation is true, there is one item that seems to be a bit unfair. I am arriving on 8/23 for 10 nights. I will then have to have a seperate reservation for the first night in order to qualify for the free DDP. However, if someone checks in on the last day of free DDP they get if for the length of their stay.

It's not really unfair. Think about this. If a restaurant opens at 11am and closes at 10pm, you can't enter before 11, but most of the time, you can enter at 9:59pm and still eat, as long as you get there before they close.

It is a package, that requires rack rate for the room AND at least a one day ticket for every one in your room. BUT you can keep the ticket and use it towards your next AP!

I will keep my fingers crossed for all of you who are hoping for free dining this summer!! :goodvibes

I just spoke to VERY helpful CM. He could not confirm dates but did confirm that tomorrow is the day! I told him I am arriving 9/25 & have "heard" that the FD will end on the 20th, the CM told me they wouldn't do that b/c the promo is September free dining! He said if the promo was to end before the end of the month it would most likely be over on the last Saturday of the month (9/27). I hope he's right. Just a few more hours until we know for sure

I also spoke to a CM this AM and he was less than magical:confused3 He offered up no information and said, "We don't even know if it will be offered this year...." I was only asking a hypothetical question about applying it to 4 rooms. He then replied,"I can't answer that...you will just have to call and see..." He was awful and had a terrible tone:mad: I hate the inconsistency among the CMs- it makes me mad that you have to call back to get a decent one! Sorry for the rant but glad to hear others are getting information from good CMs

I understand that the minimum required nights for free dining are 3, but does anyone know what the maximum amount of nights are, right now I have nine nights reserved with the DDP and will switch to the free dining plan when it becomes available

We did eleven nights last year and ten the year before. I know that you can only get up to a 10 day park ticket, but I am not sure what the upper limit on room nights is. I believe I have heard of people doing as many as 14 nights.
