Free Dining 2008 Watch

You have a good chance starting on the 10th ! Last year people called until June.
Good Luck :thumbsup2
also don't forget, people will call back with cancellations. So if you don't get the resort you want, you can keep trying for a while.

Did any of you who booked your "free dining 08" ressie as a bounce back from 07, not have "free dining 07" but were just there during those dates? I'm having a type-A freak out about my options! :scared1:
DH isn't willing to move resorts even if "free dining" is offerred and I'm so wanting to be able to "bounce back with free dining 09" if it is offerred. He's right, we can't spend huge amounts more to get free dining just in hopes of getting a bouce back 09 deal, but this waiting is killing me and I'd very much like to avoid this wait next year. We even got a mailing from Disney Rewards - only to discover it was an offer for a Disney Visa - ARGH! We already have the Disney Visa and are anxiously awaiting the info as are you all...

Would it work for you to get the 20% off for the first 3 days as room only. Get the last 7 days with the free dining and a one day base ticket at $76.77 per person. Go through the mouse savers email on they send out on the 15th of each month and buy discounted 10 day park tickets through them saving a few bucks over what Disney charges and use them for the whole vacation. Then just save the one day tickets to use for an upgrade on a future trip. We did it this way a couple years ago during free dining when we got in 4 days before our free dining package. Now to see if they will even offer free dining at WL which I think was one resort they didn't have available last year.

HTH

Thanks for the suggestion. I could buy the one day ticket now and save it for a later date, but I would essentially be at a wash (buy 3 base tickets to save $210... but I'd have the base tickets for sometime in the future!). I'll have to ponder that one...

Has anyone else run the figures for the same dates/tickets and found the bounceback offer more expensive?

The bounceback offer said moderate resort, 6 days-5 nights, 6 MYW tickets and it was 652 per adult ($1956 for 2 adults and my 11 yr old)

When I tried the Disney web site, I put in moderate resort , 6 days-5 nights in mid Sept and 6 day MYW tickets and got a price of $1534

Is it me or is the "free" dining offer not really free?

I no longer have my 2005 free dining plan figures, and I am wondering....

In the past, how close has the rack rate MYW package (without dining) been to to your actual free dining MYW package price? In other words, was the free dining package EXACTLY the same amount as the rack rate quote provided by disneyworld.com for a basic MYW package (no dining) - or was it a few dollars off (more or less)?

Yes, all other package details are the same (i.e., dates, # days on tix, type of tix, room type, etc.).

:thanks:

If I sign up for a Disney card today, is it too late to get the offer if it comes out Monday??? How would I be notified or what would I need to do???

HOW FUNNY!! We posted at the exact same time!!! ;) Great minds....

It should be exactly the same, rack rate + tickets = vaction with free dining

From what I've read, it's too late.

Double check what type of ticket and if insurance is quoted...

you may want to check to be sure that the ticket component is the same (i.e. no hopping, water parks, etc) and that the room view is the same... plus your bounceback quote may not include insurance and your website quote may...

otherwise it should be exactly the same :)

Mine is exact to the penny with the web site ..........

I am so confused by all these recent posts... I think I read on the previous page, that if you are booked before 9/20 you can still get the dining for the length of stay, is this correct?

I have read this here a few times but just cannot seem to find it. We are going to disney Sept 18, leaving mid morning Sept 22. Does this mean I would be eligible for only 3 nights of free dining (assuming I get it)? Or does this completely disqualify me? Thanks for the help.

We booked in June but we didn't get the exact resort we wanted. I was just happy to have a room though :woohoo:

What have you read to make you think that? I've tried to go back through and its a looooot of pages. I think I may need glasses :sad2:

The reason I'd agree with AlexWyattMommy's post is because you need to actually have your CC# in order to book the free dining deal. If you apply now for the card, you likely won't get the CC # for several days. Just a guess....

I do not think they allow a courtesy hold on the Disney VISA FD offers....you must provide your Disney VISA number at the time of booking.

Its still unkown until Monday if it can extend past the 20th. In years past yes. However this year Disney has changed thier policy on recent offers making offers end when posted (20th). Check back on Monday I'm sure someone will post. At the moment IMO I woulsd say no, but only Disney will say. Also don't forget with free dining you need a package thats rack rate for the room plus a mimimum number of nights for your stay!
Good Luck!

fwiw, i had a bounceback free dining package booked for early sept staying at pop century... things have changed w/in our family, making us want a "better" resort (more amenities 'cause we'll be spending more time in the resort this year, better pool, etc) and a bit more space... plus, the kids' school finally released their '08-'09 calendar so i had to work around that...

so, i called a little while ago, switched to beach club, no problem and changed our dates to 9/25-10/2 and again, no problem... so, although we are going to be there after the promo dates end (the bounceback promo ended on 9/27 i think), we are still eligible for free dining throughout our entire stay... whether this will hold true for new bookings (either visa or general public) is anyone's GUESS, but it does make things look hopeful (imo)...

I'm such a dork...one more question!!! I have seen this mentioned but don't recall any definite answers. If we arrive 2 days before the FD promo ends, do they extend FD during our trip or is it cut off? I need an absolute from someone that has done it in the past or truly knows for sure! I want to book one set of dates and not move it if at all possible...puhleeese :lovestruc
