Free Dining '10 Update: Disney Visa FD Released (See pages 1 & 57+ for details)

Reading the threads about free dining reminds me of why I decided to join DVC.....I just couldn't standing the waiting, wondering, and obsessing. I hope free dining does happen for all those who really want it. It is a great promotion, but its really starting to turn into an expectation for many people.

Just so you all know, there is a free dining update thread by canadian guy now. It does not sound like free dining will be coming out. Although he does say he has heard rumors both ways. The no free dining rumors sound more concrete by his post. I think I am just packing it in and giving up. Going from excitment to let down too many times in one week is very depressing. I am willing to pay full price and if it comes out, great.

I do have FD on a bounceback, but waiting for others in my party. Seems odd that the UK would be offered FD, but not the US. Perhaps it comes out tomorrow with an April Fools, laughing at all of us.

Even if it doesn't come out tomorrow, I'm fully expecting somebody to start a thread with a title something along the lines of FREE DINING ANNOUNCED with April Fools as the body. Boy, wouldn't that just be hillarious? NOT!!!!! I still foresee it happening followed by a whole lot of VERY angry responses. You don't dangle a piece of meat in front of a hungry lion without expecting to be bitten or mauled. Anybody planning this joke, be forewarned.

all of the speculation is killing me. We are already booked at CBR for Oct 4-11 with the regulard dining plan. If FD comes out for travel by Oct 2 do we move our trip up and leave on Friday instead of on Monday to get in on the FD. Or do I hold out to see if they extend the offer further through October?????

Let's all say "sorry fivebyfive"

I remember a lot of people being upset at her a few days ago, but never figured out why. Do we say "sorry" if FD doesn't come out because most were wrong and she is right, or do we say "sorry" because she was counting on it?

I don't have one ounce of inside information, but I don't think you can count FD out for mid-August to September until the end of June. And let's all keep in mind, except for last year, FD wasn't announced until April.

I remember a line out of Men in Black when Will Smith says something about telling people there are aliens on the planet. He says something like "people are smart, they can handle it." His partner answers "a person is smart, but people are stupid and panicky." I am reminded of that when I see FD coming each year. When I feel the panic feeling in my gut, I realize how true that exchange is.

Late fall offers tend to come out in mid-late august. Any changes then to drop days will result in a $50 change fee. But adding days later might be tricky depending on availability.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will wait to see if the Visa offer comes out. If it does I'll mention to DH we may think about moving up the vaca. Thank goodness we are flexible on the days. I even checked the airfare and its a little cheaper too. So with that and FD, its a decent savings. Maybe we can upgrade the room or even take a long weekend away somewhere else over the summer. Hmmmmm......

It seems better not to wait until the next offer, just in case.

The first weekend in October is the beginning of F&W and a marathon. I am assuming Epcot will be really crowded; but if we avoid it over the weekend. The week should be ok!!!

Oh the waiting, the speculating, the planning, the hoping.......... I love Disney!!!!

I have booked for September 16th-21st. "If" free dinning promotion happens, can I call Disney and take advantage of this promotion for my pre-existing reservation or do I need to cancel and re-book?
