Free DDP with AP question

Could someone please clarify something for me?

To get the free DDP you must buy a one day MYW ticket. Everyone in the room is wanting to buy an AP. I am sure I read that you can upgrade the MYW to AP when you get there. Please say that is right.

Also, would it be possible to upgrade before hand? Say when booking the room. Is it possible to book the room with free DDP and rather than buy MYW buy AP certificate? I can see problems with that, but figured someone here would know either way.

You can upgrade to an AP, but you have to upgrade when you get there. I did this last year and it went fine.

I am wanting to do the same thing but I read that for some people it voided out their free dining when they upgraded to AP. Any advise or experience? Ann, did you upgrade right when you got there and if so did it void out your dining plan? Thanks

We did this 2 years ago, and didn't have a problem. I think (I can't remember for sure now) I read of people having problems last year when they upgraded before using the pass. Try using your pass and upgrading inside the park.

We used our pass before upgrading. Since we were sure we were going to upgrade anyway, we opted for 10day hoppers with the free dining package, and on the last day of our trip (I think the hoppers had been used 5 or 6 days), DH and I upgraded to APs. On that trip, DS's AP was still valid and we saved his unused pass to upgrade 6 months later with no problem.

We upgraded our MYW tickets at the MK during Easter Week. We had paid for the DP but I don't think that FD credits are any different on your room key. I too was concerned about losing my dining credits, (as I had also read about people having problems losing their dining credits) and asked the people at the MK guest services the same question. They were familiar with upgrading the ticket and preserving the dining credits. They removed the MYW ticket and issued us annual passes and we still continued to use the remaining dining credits without any problems. They were very helpful, efficient and reassuring in the MK.
