Thanks so much for sharing this!! My daughter just began college classes this week and is majoring in dance. So, an extra pair of ballet slippers for $5 is a great thing. :thumbsup2

Only a good deal for a girl up to size 8-1/2. There is no choice of color, so my guess is they are sending out pink. Guys are out of luck....again. :sad2:

A good tip on ordering shoes for older children or adults with smaller feet...

The adult size (woman's) is two number sizes greater that the same sized shoes in girls...for example -- A size 5 woman's shoes is just about the same as a girl's size 3. The only thing to remember with this rule of thumb is that typically kids shoes are a tad wider than woman's shoes. So anyone with very slender feet might have a problem buying from the girl's section

DD16 has small feet (a size 5 1/2 or 6). She usually finds the best clearance deals on really cute flats and boots in the kids shoe department.

We actually received the two pairs I ordered through this promotion yesterday. And yes, DD14 got pink slippers. They were also canvas with the tightening cords tying at the back, not the front of the slipper.

DD will definitely use these for practice and I am thrilled to get inexpensive Capezios for her. However, since they are not leather, I am not sure her school will let her use them for class. Something to keep in mind for anyone who is hoping to use the slippers for class. Some dance schools are very regimented regarding apparel and shoes for class.

I also got the pink canvas ones when I ordered. Not really sure it was worth the $5 shipping, but DD can play around with them.

Around here the canvas ones are what the older or more serious dancers wear. I hope that is what we get, but I ordered when this was advertised here initially but have not gotten the pair yet. Are the ones you all received split sole?

For anyone who has ordered a pair, did you order the real shoe size? Or the ballet shoe size? We were at the dance store the other day, and I noticed that the sizes seemed almost 2 sizes bigger...so a 7 would be 9? I know that the canvas isn't as forgiving in sizes. For $5, I'd like to get my dd a pair for musical theatre. Thanks :goodvibes

There was just a post yesterday about a women who ordered a pair for her daughter with her CC and another pair and used her husbands CC. She was sent a pink pair and a black pair (which was in men's size).

Can't remember the size, but for the male that wanted a pair here's the thread and see if it's your size. She was selling it for $5. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2785167

Yes, they have the split sole.

We ordered a size 6 1/2, and received a 7 1/2. And they do fit! lol.

One question though, are we supposed to sew the elastic bands? I'm assuming the bands criss-cross in the front and then they need to be cut & sewn???? DD is just starting dance in a week, so we are new to all of this.

TIA!

Actually no.. you do not have control over which ones you get. I put in for two, one on my credit card and one on dh's credit card and they sent him MEN's. I posted a few days ago I have apair of men's size 8 if anyone wants them, pm me... otherwise going to put them on ebay. I did get the size I wanted under my cc.

Right. Have her teacher check them before you cut anything though.

I'll be taking an intro to ballet class for adults in the next couple of weeks and the studio "highly recommends" that we wear ballet slippers. Do you think these would be ok? I'd much rather pay $5 for slippers than $20 I'm seeing in other places. I'm not a serious dancer or anything, just doing it for fun :cutie:

Oh! Also, I wear an 8 or 8.5 in regular shoes. What size would I order in these?

The first pair came - black, size 8.5W. They fit perfectly (DD wears an 8R in sneakers)
I sewed the elastic to criss-cross in the front.

I think they're split sole: that's what they call it when it's got two leather pads on the bottom, right?

Update: Second pair arrived a week later. Pink, split sole - the box says Ladies Canvas.

Got my DD's order last night - pink canvas with split sole - she loved them! I will have her wear those to class and save the better ones for performances. Might order another pair in larger size - does anyone know if they do this every year?

I'm so glad someone posted this. My DD's ballet shoes are getting very tight and I needed to get her a new pair. How long between ordering did it take to receive them?
