...I have too much responsiblity worrying about these poor kids! I am a basket case wondering if the few cats that roam the neigborhood might pounce on all the baby birds walking around now!

How can all of you be parents!!!?? :faint: :lmao:
We're all crazy!!! It makes us insane for years on end!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Momma turkey looks really healthy...those chicks are so cute! :lovestruc Do you get alot of wild birds and their babies visiting you in the warm months?

Last time we had 4 wild turkeys come up onto our property (as I mentioned before) and they followed us around like pets! :rotfl: They were so sweet! I left one of the outside water hydrants dripping so they could have easy access to water and we always have corn on the ground around here from the cattle's feed.

Whenever DH trims any trees or bushes, he hauls the trimmings out into one of the pastures and stacks it up in a heap with the hope that ground birds, like turkeys and pheasants, will use the protection to nest...but it hasn't happened yet. We have about 5 barn cats (which are too well fed and lazy to actually hunt anything  ) but birds with their babies attract the attention of dogs, foxes, and coyotes out here.

Does anybody have hummingbirds around their place? We always see one or two but, when I put sugar water out, they don't stick around to utilize it. I would really like to learn a way to keep the hummingbirds around.

OMG- first off- your colonscopy- great to hear you had no problems! I have never had one- I don't think I need one for a few years- but just the WORD makes me want to be sedated- that and the word....ROOT CANAL!- instant sedation, OMG- I think I need sedation right now for even typing them! :lmao: :scared1: Those words freak me out!

I can't beleive you watched! It makes me sick when the dentist has my mouth on the TV screen overhead- I tell him- ok, enough- I don't want to see the inside of my mouth! Do your job and leave me out of it:lmao:

We do not get many wild birds that I know of- we have had turkeys in the past- but never baby turkeys. I would love to have them follow me around! But right now momma turkey does not want to know from anyone with her babies around her!

We also have hummingbirds- last year I put out the feeder and I saw a few all summer long- I saw one this year and I just bought another feeder just last night. I will put it out today- I also planted a butterfly garden and I am pretty sure the hummingbirds are attracted to those flowers too. That is where I will put the feeder.

I had my colonoscopy this morning....it was a cinch! :thumbsup2 I had some misconceptions about them and I had heard not so pleasant stories about them but I didn't have a bad experience at all! I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. :yay:

I worked yesterday and Walmart did not get the prescription solution in until yesterday so I didn't get started with the prep until much later than I should have last night....I was up until 1:00 this morning. But, it all worked out.

I thought I would have to be put under for the procedure but that wasn't the case. They gave me a sedative and I watched the whole thing on a tv screen...I got to see what the doctor saw. No problems in there at all. The doctor told me I wouldn't need another one for 5 years.

I was so comfortable with the procedure that, next time, I have decided to ask to forgo the sedative if I can. I really don't see why it was necessary. DH has an appointment to do it on Wednesday and I told him he should ask to not use sedative and then he could go right to work after. We're both curious as to what the doctor will say.

Then, I made DH take me out for a burger and fries...at 10:00am. :hyper:

Generally speaking the will not forego the sedation because it helps you relax "those" muscles to make the procedure easier to perform. It's more of a instinct for those muscles to tighten/contract so by them giving you a sedative it is making it more "pleasant" for you to endure it. Glad things went well! The only thing I can not watch is eye surgery - the eyeball wiggling around while the dr is working his magic......ewwww :faint:

Babies are tooooooo cute! Momma looks like she's been dieting:confused3 But that could be because it's spring vs. bulking up for winter. Or maybe she's got a 2 piece she wants to fit into by June :rotfl2:

I am right there with 'ya on the root canal...OMG I hate those!! :headache:

They had me lay on the table on my side and I was facing the tv set so I couldn't help but watch the procedure. It was really kinda' interesting. I should clarify that, as long as the procedure does not involve blood, I am ok watching. For some reason, seeing my own blood can make me pass right out! I don't know what's up with that :confused3 I might have a 'chicken gene' that kicks in when my own blood is present. :rotfl2:

What did you plant in your butterfly garden? I should do that! :thumbsup2

That makes sense about the sedative. I can imagine that eye surgery would be creepy, too. DH had a torn retina repair a couple of years ago and I don't even want to hear about what he went through. :scared1:

Madd...if you catch a photo of a 2-piece clad momma turkey next month, you GOTTA share that one! :rotfl:

You know what is sad- momma will get into shape before me and look good in a 2 piece:rotfl2:

Don't feel bad- DH is so chicken- I swear to you, when he get's his blood pressure taken, he feels nauseous!!!!

Guess what- you girls told me to keep a journal of my plants- and I did- that is how I know all the flowers Ihave in my gardens!:cool1:

My butterfly garden has- a butterfy bush (of course), Lots of day lillies, woods blue asters, firewitch dianthus' (OMG- they smell wonderful!:faint: ) grace ward lithodoras and thriller lady mantles- and off to the side I have 2 climbing rose bushes, a dublin bay climber and a skys the limit. One is red the other yellow and they already have lots of buds and a few roses already! I have my bird bath in the middle of the garden too.

Everything is still kind of small b/c I just planted them last month- but hopefully next year everything will moosh together!

I am sure there are so many other flowers that would attract hummingbirds- go and Goggle the info!

Hi y'all! Boy no action on this thread for days, and then y'all are chatty cathy's...(remember my chatty cathy???:rotfl: )

Kellie, I'm so sorry honey about more aches and pains for you..You are my hero, going at it for 3 more weeks instead of waiting and having to start over. It sounds so obvious to us, but we are not enduring the pain like you are -go gettem' girl!!

Madd, you crack me up with all your "kids" you are keeping track of. One thing I should have told you when I was talking about the baby ducks we had at our pond...don't count them...:sad1:

mtblujeans, I'm glad your colonoscopy went well. I still have to make that appointment..it will have to wait til DH gets back from Montana.

I thought you guys in MT had a lot of hummingbirds? Our neighbor there has a bunch of feeders and they get a lot of action. I have read that in colder climates you should make sure they feeder doesn't have a perch. In the colder mornings, the little guys stop on the perch and get too cold to move..and fall down. that is what I have heard, may or may not be true.
We planted a milkweed plant we bought from the 5th grade fundraiser this year. It is the only thing monarch caterpillars will eat. I hope it survives, it wasn't looking so good the last time I looked at it. Really pretty flowers..

I hope all the freaps are doing well. I have been over at wdwwow a lot, it's a cool site. I think about you guys a lot..you could start a thread over there on the "cliques" forum!

take care....

 I am so sorry about the pain. You are so brave. I don't know if I could be so brave.
It is not so much being brave just doing what I have to do.
Hopefully you never have to deal with this but if you did you would find a way.

Kellie- You are very amazing to me. I know John will pamper you silly, but be sure to take it easy and take care of yourself. Drink lots and eat really good foods- they will help you to heal. When I worked at the VA we did lots of skin grafts- the thought of it can be a bit ick, but when they take you can look good as new. And that was at the VA- imagine what a real plastics guy could do :thumbsup2 . I'll be thinking of you :wizard: .
John is so good to me. (but don't tell him I said so) I told them I do not think I would do the grafts. How weird this sounds but I think I will wear the scar as a badge of honor that I was able to survive.

Awwww hon, I'm sorry it's been such a witch with the burns! Have they given you silvadene to at least help with the burn(s)? And I hope their keeping you stocked with happy pills too :thumbsup2 Hopefully the next 3 weeks will go by quickly and make sure to tell John you should get a nice BIG surprise the day your finished with the treatments! Hopefully the naseau (sp?) has cut back some too. I'm ticked you've got 3 more weeks but then I also thank God you've "only" got 3 more weeks....hard to believe how far you've come already :worship: I will be thinking happy thoughts and crossing everything that its smooth sailing here on out.
I also think 3 weeks is nothing. Sadly I ca not use silvadene do to the fact it has metals in it. Doing radition you ca not use anything with metals in it. They have me using these cool gel packs but the are not pulling out the heat they wished it would. They make me see the DR now every day before treatment so they can check it. Today they said no go but I told her we are to far into this to stop now. They say what I have going is like a 3rd degree burn.

BUt you freaps have been a god send to me thru this so you know I :worship: all of you

Oh if your DH is anything like most DH"s then he will need to be knocked out for a week:rotfl2: You men they can be big babys. Hopefully his will be all good also

:worship: You simply amaze me. I hope that if I am ever faced with a trial like yours I'll have half your strength.

OK- who is ready for more wildlife drama from me.....

This morning DH and I walk behind his pole barn...and what do we see...?

2 of these.....yes, baby racoons! Where is the mother- I have no idea- DH ran and got the camera and told me took look out for mom!:scared1: I can only imagine her charging at DH and me just screaming like a school girl:rotfl:

014.jpg

I called the wildlife refuge (aka my best friends:rolleyes1 ) and they told me to keep an eye out and mom might come back w/ food for them, or she could be dead:eek:

I am just worried b/c the one walked over to a wood pile we have in the back and I do not want them to make their home there.

027-1.jpg

So- tomorrow I will go and rent a trap from the wildlife refuge and set it- and then take the little critters there to live.

Bhaaaaaa!!!:headache:

Bhhhaaaaa!!!!

Some of my critters will be gettin' TIME OUT!

I just went out and was checking on my roses! ALL of the petals were chewed off and they are strewn about the garden.....AND THE BUDS ARE MISSING!

I THINK it is the squirrels! We do not have rabbits and there are no deer tracks in the dirt!

I have to go to the garden center today so I will ask!

You KNOW you are soooo right! Silly me...I forgot that I am a woman and I can take just about anything*...he's not and he can't! :rolleyes1

Awww Madd you are such a good critter mommie
There's Madd's next tag: good critter baby mamma! :rotfl:

Oh yeah...sounds like you are having a "mom summer"....'Ok...which one of you kids tore up my flower bed'...'he did'...'not me, she did it'...'I did not'... :rotfl2:

On a different note...every summer when DS comes home from college, I screw up our wireless internet connection royally, trying to get him connected back in, because I have no clue what I am doing! He uses a CAT 5 cable at school so he doesn't know how to do the wireless router, either. Well, this summer is no different! :sad2:

For the last 2 weeks, we have been taking turns NOT having a wireless internet connection. Last night, I got a message on my laptop that the wireless connection was, somehow, no longer secure either! I was worried that someone was trying to hack in thru our wireless so I decided I had to 'fix' it this morning. I have just spent the last 5 hours doing everything I know how to do to screw up our wireless router!

Bless the people at our local internet provider because they are not supposed to help us with our own equipment...but they do! I finally called them and told them I needed help and the young man I spoke with helped me set up the router enough so that he could go in and set up the security settings, password, and everything else from their end. Then, he told me not to go in there any more and mess with it! :rotfl:

So, now, we all have a wireless connection and most of my hair is still intact! :cloud9: DH told me I should take them some donuts on Monday morning and I think that is a good idea. I may have to :worship: a little, too. :rotfl2:

*except knee surgery: a big fat knee that makes scary popping noises and gushes blood!

madd you new babies are cute. But be on the look out for mom. Racoons ca be so mean. I think we just need to call you EllieMae for now on.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Mt I never play with the internet. If DD is not home I have one of the It guys from work come to the house. I would mess up everything and then all heck would break lose around the house. We have 2 desk tops and and 2 lap tops that are all on the wireless and I have no clue what I am doing.

Argg...I've missed so much drama this weekend. Kellie, first I have to say I am so sorry about your pain. I hope the next couple of weeks fly by and tell John that as soon as you feel up to it he needs to get you a puppy.

mtblujeans-Glad the colonoscopy was no biggie. I'll try to remember that if the time ever comes for me.:scared1:

Madd-love the critter pictures. We get tons of stuff in our yard but I never think to take a photo.:confused3 Unfortunately, we now have a dead deer down next to our barn. Someone must have hit it last week and the grass was so tall we didn't notice it until way, way too late. It's nowhere near the house, but in order to get the mail I have to hold my breath and run across the road as quickly as possible.:rotfl: We already have hummingbirds this year. We have two feeders on the porch kind of close together. Last year we had times when we would have 15-20 at a time!!!!:hippie: I don't know how to attract them better but we are doing something right. Oh, some of you might not find this exciting, but we also have bats nesting right outside mine and DH's bedroom window. We have a log home but the upstairs is done in hemlock siding and they just "hang" out in there.:rotfl2: The down side is that we have bat guano all over the roof outside our window.
