FP+ with AP question

I asked this in the FP sticky thread above but didn't get any responses - so I'm putting it down here hoping that someone has some experience with this.

We have AP's and we have a 3 day stay on property at the end of May and a 5 day stay on property for July 4th. Since they are all on site, will I be able to have 8 days of FP reserved instead of the normal 7?

And once I book the FP for the July trip (which I will book at the beginning of May) does this mean if I do any day trips in May that I won't be able to do any same day FP at all?

thx

If I’m understanding what you’re asking correctly, you’re asking about the ability to make fastpasses at 60 days out, correct?
If that is correct, then you can make them for any day that you will be in the hotel (check in day, check out day, and every day in between) since you’re staying on site.
Every other day that you’re not staying on site, you can make fastpasses for at 30 days or less. They’re not affected by later trips.

Thanks for the reply - but what I'm actually talking about has to do with Annual Passes specifically. We are only allowed to book 7 days worth of FP at a time, so I'm trying to figure out how the onsite stays affect this. Because I have more than 7 days booked to stay within a 60 day window does that mean that I won't be able to drive over for a day trip and get FP?

We did a 10 day stay last June with APs and I was able to book all of our FP+.

I have this same question, but to put it slightly differently....

An AP normally lets me book up to 7 different days of FP+ at 30 days out. I know if I stay onsite I can book up to 14 days, if my onsite stay is 14 days or more. However, let’s says I have an 8 day onsite stay on July 1, so I book 8 days of FP+ on May 2. Then I decide to do a day trip on June 10 (no onsite stay). Will I be able to make FP+ for my June 10 day trip on May 11? Or are my 7 days of AP FP+ being used up by July stay? I *think* the answer is that the onsite stay FP+ do not count towards your AP 7 day cap, but I’m not sure.

Yes - this is the same as my question. I know I can book for my onsite stays. The question is - do those bookings then block me out from any day trips that don’t have an on-site stay connected to them since I’ll be over the regular 7 days that we’re normally allowed to book.

You won't be able to advance-book any FP+ on any days ("day trip") before those that you have already booked for the resort stay of 7 days or longer.

I recently had a situation where DW had one on-site resort stay and FPs booked, one off-site trip with FPs booked, then she booked another on-site resort stay. When she went to make FPs for that third trip, it maxed her out at 14 days.

Honestly I never totally understood exactly why this happened.

I'm sure the FP pros can explain things a lot better than me.

Sorry, not that helpful, I know.

Aww thanks for the answer - even if it's not the one I wanted. That really sucks that I wouldn't be able to book any same day FPs. Disney really doesn't go out of the way to be nice to their AP guests in my opinion.

I'm no pro... but I have an AP... With 3 weeks worth of FP+ booked for an end of April on-site stay... And I just tried to get an MK FP for tomorrow and it worked flawlessly. (Don't worry I released it)

Offsite Stay followed by Onsite Stay
  • Offsite Stay followed by Onsite Package Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the onsite package stay and will extend until the checkout date of the onsite package stay. This booking window will not include the dates of the offsite stay because the package tickets are not considered valid until check-in date of the onsite package stay. The ticket portion of the package can be activated up to 10 days prior of the onsite package check-in date (so that the package tickets can be used during the offsite stay).
  • Offsite Stay followed by Onsite RO Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the onsite RO stay and will extend until the checkout date of the onsite RO stay. Since the offsite stay precedes the onsite RO stay, this window already includes booking for the offsite stay. Additionally, the booking window will roll forward (a “rolling 60”) each day beyond the onsite RO checkout date until the guest checks out of the onsite resort. All of this assumes valid tickets are linked to the MDX account.

I think I’m missing something. Does the offsite before onsite FAQ contain any info about the AP 7 days of FP+ cap? Not trying to be snarky, just want to understand. I don’t think there have been any questions about when booking windows open, just about how many days of FP+ APs can be made when there are a combination of day trips/off-site stays and onsite stays. From the one example above by Sunelis (and thank you for that), it looks like FP+ associated with an onsite stay don’t count towards your 7 day cap, but maybe they are supposed to, or something else is going on, I’m not sure.

They do count towards your 7. I have 8 days of FP's set up right now for our May trip and I just went to see about adding a FP for today and am unable to. I get the FP Limit Reached warning.

For your onsite stay, did you book FP's for every day including both you check in and check out days?

That’s exactly what I wanted to know, thanks so much.

If your on property stays are a combined 7 days or more, once their FPs (available for your entire stay) are booked, you can't book more for day trips. Twice I've done last minute trips that fell within my 60 days and have gotten the FP limit reached message.

Thanks this is what I figured would happen, but I was hoping I was wrong.

My answer was going to be that no, you’ll be locked out. However, I just tried and got s different result. I don’t know if this is in flux or what, but I have:

*8 days of FP for an 8 night onsite stay starting in mid-April
*3 days of FP for a 3 night stay in late May

Just had no issue trying to book for tomorrow. Added two AP friends (same FPs/stays as me,) no issue. Tried to add my Mom (MYW, all days reserved) and it blocked me.

YMMV, of course!
