FP+ When Ride Goes Down

Here's a situation that happened to us today I'm the Magic Kingdom. We had used our first 3 FP+. We went to a Kiosk and picked Pirates as our 4th FP+ of the day.

We headed to Pirates and people were flowing out of it. It was down and we had a FastPass for that time. We didn't know any better, so we headed to the FP+ kiosk by Jungle Cruise. They changed our Pirates FP+ to Jungle Cruise for an hour later.

I got an email alerting me to a change in my scheduled FastPass+. Because Pirates was down, they were offering me to use THAT FP+ for a ride on the following list:

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid
"it's a small world"®
Haunted Mansion®
Jungle Cruise®
Pirates of the Caribbean®
Mickey's PhilharMagic®

The thing was that we had CHANGED our PIRATES FP+ to JUNGLE CRUISE and didn't know this until after. My wife and I explained this situation and let us on Jungle Cruise right away without any questions asked.

Later on in the day, the MyDisneyExperience app showed that I could STILL use the "anytime" FP+ for PIRATES going down, despite I changed it from Pirates to Jungle Cruise.

I took some screen shots, but at the park now and cannot upload any. I'll update later.

Hope this helps other people!!!

I've had a ride go down that I had a fastpass+ for but I never received an anytime fp for another ride. I was just able to use my fp for that rose once it went back up.

This happened to me 3x last week and each time something different happened.

The first time was BTMRR and when our return window opened, MDE automatically updated with a FP+ to use at MK until close for a list of approved attractions. That time it worked great!

The second time we actually got stuck on Pirates and had to be escorted off. That time we were given a paper FP similar to that above - it was good for a certain list of attractions and expired the end of May.

The third time was the most frustrating. It was for RnR. I had an 8:50-9:50am window. The ride was closed. I kept waiting for MDE to update like it did for BTMRR, but it never did. Later when I asked a CM why they said it was probably because RnR reopened in my window. Well how was I to know that? The CMs should've been more accommodating, but refused to give me a FP for something else. Oh well.

Its weird because I got the email about 5 minutes after Pirates went down. Which means if Pirates went back up during our time window, I was still told via email I could use the FP+ for any ride until the end of the day.

I also found my situation odd because even after i had chosen to REPLACE my Pirates FP, the "anytime" Fp+ still worked, giving me an additional one!

We got right up to Aerosmith, within time to be loaded on the car and the ride went down, this was our Tier 1 FP. We would have waited, but they cleared all the lines. We were concerned about our FP, but they literally handed us a PAPER one (remember those good old days?) and it said TO BE USED ANYWHERE ON ANY OF THESE: and it had an extensive list of EVERYTHING in HS, including RR, EXCEPT for TSMM. We kept an eye on the wait times (because it said whether the ride was back up) and then we went and re-redeemed it for RR. So we didn't lose it even if we couldn't ride it when our time was. I think we went and did muppets and had lunch, then caught our last schedule FP at Star Tours, and then went back on it when it came back up. We could have gone at any time then since the paper FP wasn't tied to a time, or even a ride specifically.

It was up and down quite a bit from the time we got there that morning, actually...
