FP + What we know and what we want to know

I wonder if the suites at Disney are reading this thread rolling in the aisles?

There is so much we don't know -- so much we have speculated on -- that I have to wonder if it's half as bad as some of us think it is?

I for one look forward to using the system as an educated guest. I can't believe the execs at Disney will willingly destroy the loyalty of so many of its guests. The stingy process of withholding information has definitely cost them business in the short term (at least from me).

Hopefully all will be revealed soon and much of the anxiety expressed here will pass...

Sorry, I didn't mean to question you, it's just we"ve never found it necessary to get to the parks early to use FP. Maybe you're right and we've just been lucky!

It's fine, and I am glad you were, I just think many have not been as successful and when you read of others getting more than they know they truly are going to personally use, and riding the same rides in the same day, over and over, it does make one feel like it needs some tweaking.

If you mean are the Suits, reading, not personally but there is a staff that does.

I don't think it will be as bad as some think. Of course if anything at all changes some will think it is horrible.

I don't think all will be revealed soon, but pieces will begin to be revealed. It is going to be a work in progress.

Yes, Suits. It's past my bed time!

I'll tell you this... I am more steamed about the loss of that last Evening EMH than I am about this FP+ nonsense. That was the best time to visit the parks. Going in the hot summer with teenagers - the parks are cool - the lights are awesome - and the crowds don't start to leave until the end of the second hour. I will miss that. The double whammy of that and these FP restrictions - is a lot to take.

OK, this is from Al Lutz, so you can take it or leave it (though I do feel he is right most of the time). He says that this WILL replace the fastpass system we all know (Disney has no intention of keeping those FP machines around) and it WILL be used to lure people to stay onsite and to upgrade to better resorts. It will become a pay for play system.

While mousemerf says it's 3 per day, it won't stay that way for long.

disney already said its going to be free for all... ( I believe I read this somewhere)

Why would they let everyone have it, and then start charging for it?
It makes to company /brand look bad....

They way they rolled out dinning plan, was to offer it as a FREE upgrade.. But they made it clear that it was something that others normally pay for..
I don't see disney putting it out for a year or two.. Stating its free for all..
Then start charging for it..

Maybe for added FP+ or an upgraded version..
But not for the basic magic band or basic FP+..

The plot thickens! :stir: too bad there isn't an earthquake smilie. That story ties in with RustyScuppers claim on the other thread - he says DVC would be excluded. So, if we play along... 3 for everyone! More for those that pay or stay in a deluxe. My son has been begging for this since page one (as long as it is connected to my bank account and not his.) I know all speculation!!!

I was going to remove that question from page one. All speculation. But this does connect all the pieces and completely makes sense. Speculation!!

Three for free! Sounds like a slogan!

Well...if thats true....ill just pony up the monies and pay to play more!!!:thumbsup2
Gotta do what ya gotta do

If this is true, we will definitely cut our trips to maybe once or every two years instead of 3-4 years and just use our DVC in that one trip. We stay at least 10-17 days each trip using our points and paying cash for the extra nights. We use fast passes all day, if they limit the use of fast passes, we will not be doing any parks at all. For the first time in years, we did not renew our APs, I'm just waiting for the official FP+ announcement before we commit to spend our $ at Disney.

Some have been saying for a few years that Disney has been moving to a fast pass system based upon the level of your resort stay. Looks like they may have been correct.

I can see disney offering you a "bonus" for booking higher resort..
But I don't think it's going to be the norm..
I think it will be an offer like free dinning..

3-4 times a year we may get an offer of " if you book and stay at a WDW hotel you can get up to 5 extra FP+!"

Deluxe -5
Mod- 3
Value-2

But to do this they would need to put a price on each FP+, and there is a rub..
Then they will start charging for extra FP+

This could be how they are going to phase out free dinning?

Basically a pay to play however they work it. You'll pay either outright like Uni does with its Express Pass or you'll pay by staying onsite. We've never done free dining but you could be right about using this to get rid of it. I wonder how that will impact attendance????

Ba-a-a-a-a.... Ugh

I need to stay away from these threads until the big announcements come. It all sounds so awful so far. For us and our touring style that is.

Another question left dangling on the first page. Keep working through this, you almost have connected all the dots! :). Do you see dynamic pricing in your crystal ball? :) it's like a big puzzle!

We did FD a few back.. Before the ruined it..
It was a great deal... (My DH works in finance and ran the numbers)
It worked perfectly.. But disney was losing to much money...

So for our up coming trip we found out, it cheaper to get a AP and buy TIW.. To get the 20% off...

And the best part is we get to eat at 20 TS+ 10 QS for the same price on the dinning plan of (10 TS + 10 QS + 10 snacks ( which we never used)

I hope the FP+ doesn't become like free dinning....

Well let me see... Looking.. Looking.. .

This one may take awhile ;-)

I'm surprised at how some want to make me feel bad that I think that if I do the work by doing research and being at the park at RD and stay until closing that I think is okay that I get more FPs. Isn't that what we are taught as children? You do the work and you reap the rewards. I don't want anyone to have a bad time on their vacation but why should I be happy that Disney wants to take from my family that will do the work and give it to someone that doesn't want to do the same. I really really do not like getting up early. I am so not a morning person but I do it for Disney so that I can reap my rewards.

Also it keeps getting pointed out that just because Disney may limit my FP to 1 headliner, it is NOT keeping me from riding anything I want to ride because I can get in the SB line. But yet, my "super-using" of FPs is keeping others from riding rides. Aren't they just as able to get in the SB line as me? And as long as you are in line by the time the park closing, aren't you allowed to ride? We pull FPs until well in the late afternoon and early evening so the idea that FPs are running out by 12:00 or 1:00 all over DW just doesn't fly. We travel in June for the past 6 years and have only seen this as a problem with TSM and Soaring. If that is the main problem it could have been fixed easily without spending a billion dollars.

Another point is if more had decided to use the old FP system, there would have been less FPs for all of us "super-users". Disney could have just spent money on trying to make more people aware of their FP system that way it was. This would have cut how many FPs I was able to get.

I believe this is about so much more that FPs but just something that Disney saw a chance to do something about. But I refuse to take the blame (super-user) for all these changes and I refuse to feel bad that I feel like I deserve more for my "work". Just as someone that paid more for their ticket at US deserves more than the normal ticket by moving to the front of the line. And maybe that is where Disney is headed anyway!
