FP+ questions... Really lost

it will be interesting to see if it holds true that FP+ usage negates regular FP usage in the parks and IF regular FPs will eventually be phased out.

Hard for me to judge until it all sorts out and Disney finalizes the FP+ program.

It does clearly say in terms and conditions. But it could change. Currently the technology is separate for FP and FP+, so you can't physically use both systems. But I guess they could program the RFID machines to use both systems. That would be great, but there is no indication this going to happen. Everything points to the FP+ is a way to evenly distribute crowds and market the under utilized areas more.

I am not getting the feeling that this is being designed so that the customer will have more fun - a more 21st century type interactive experience. It looks like it is being done for sake of efficiency. Not that that is a bad thing, but I think a lot of people were hoping for new exciting addition to WDW, and it looks like we are just getting a different WDW that will be limiting for a lot of people.

It will definitely be a lot more work, just try to manage your friends list. :badpc:

If you click on explore and then attractions, it should give you an option to click on specific attractions. It's on each attraction's page that I see the "Select FP+" button.

I must be doing something wrong... I updated the app. But still can't find it.. No biggie tho..

Pretty sure it's Disney's way of attempting to distribute the crowds. People on their first visit may have no idea what attractions normally don't need a FP so they'll "waste" them, and it brings people to "underutilized attractions".

Just curious. What percentage of first time visitors do you think use the current FP system?

And there it is! Wow. I can book a FP+ for Rafikkis Planet watch. ;)

Thanks for the directions.

How are you chosen to be a FP+ recipient?

You are not right now. They are not currently testing.

Early tests involved people being approached while waiting for the DME bus at MCO.

Glad to help! :goodvibes

They've only done periodic trials up until this point. During the trial periods people were randomly selected and the only way to be chosen was to be take Disney's Magical Express from the airport. There haven't been any more trials announced yet.

Not that it matters.... but people enrolled with Magical Express were contacted by email or mail prior to their trip. They then followed the instructions to log on and select dates and attractions. They were mailed cards to take with them.

Just so nobod has their fingers crossed that they will be selected going through the line for ME.

Tests even earlier than those had people approached getting right off ME. I don't think (though I could be wrong) that those people knew anything prior to getting there.

Ah yes, that was the second wave...first pass was people with clipboards at the DME line :)

Yes, i do understand the technology is different but they can run the two different systems side by side. They could have an RFID reader and a CM that checks FPs as they currently do. Personally, I would prefer an either/or selection between FP or FP+ but I wonder if regular FPs will be phased out.

Time will definitely tell....

Based on the app, this looks like it is going to be live soon.

When it does go live I can even book a FP+ to see DiVine. I am not sure what that would do for me, but it is nice to see times connected to all the characters and DiVine is under Entertainment. That temptress is hard to find. Or at least was.

You know, that wouldn't have been vastly different from being tapped on the shoulder by the Dream Team. During the tests, there was no down side at all to participation. Just extra rides with no hassle or loss of FP.

Uugg! I feel like I'm the only one who can't find it..... If my DD (6) was here she could have found it 10 min ago!!
I'll keep trying.... Do you guys have to type in a location?. It keeps making me pick a location
Then when I pick it, I pick a ride and nothing... Just stated the time and shows me where it is on the map...

I think the problem is the tickets. You will have either the paper or the RFID not both. That is what limits the FP and FP+. They could integrate everything to RFID, but that is clearly not their intent. I think the regular FP will be phased out. Practically Every ride and attraction in wdw will have the RFID scanner. Every attraction in wdw has a FP+ option on the app.

I wonder if these are the character interactions they kept touting where characters will call your child by name. Not exactly sure how that works with DeVine though...... Maybe if you choose that for FP+ you get to put on leaves and wear stilts around the parks yourself......

Has anyone tested the fastpass+ on dis yet?
Were they able to use FP+ and the current FP?

Having both options would have been cool. As long as everyone had both options. Your experience at Belles would be the exemplar for how not to run the program.

Our friends had it on our last trip, but not us. Regular FP was not taken away for the test. It was a win/win. Which is why I think it was more of an operational test than an opinion test.
