FP+ question

My son will be going on a school trip to Disney, staying offsite. The tickets will be given them once they arrive. Will I be able to reserve FP+ rides for him without the tickets at 30 days out if we order them magic bands through the mail?

I am thinking I can order the magic bands, link them to the MDE account and reserve the rides. Do I need the tickets also to reserve the rides?

You need the tickets, or at least the numbers from the tickets before you can link them, and you must link them before you can schedule any FPs.

Advance FP+ reservations are not related to MagicBands.
Tickets are what is required to make advanced FP+ reservations.

MagicBands are just used to ACCESS the pre-scheduled FP+, after they have been scheduled.

My daughter went on a HS trip to WDW in November. She was able to make a lot of FP+ reservations once they got there. Only thing she couldn't get was 7 Dwarfs. If your son has an MDE account I think he will be OK. So hard to plan with a school group. Their time in each park is so limited!

The others have already answered about needing a ticket linked to MDE before being able to make FP+ reservations. Did the school group use a travel agent? I work for a group travel agent, and although we do not distribute tickets until arrival, we DO send out an email with ticket numbers before the group's 30 day window opens, so that they can make FP+ reservations. If your travel agent does not do this, you might ask them if it is possible.

magic bands have nothing to do with booking FP+.
you need the ticket and you need to link it to an MDE account in order to book FP+.

Ditto what others have said. I'd ask for the codes, if possible. I'm sure everyone else in the group is wondering the same thing. They'd probably be very grateful to you for asking.
